Navy blazer, grey skirt (supposed to be worn knee length but constantly shorted to bum-skimming length) and white shirt.

As I look out my window at work, I can still identify the school girls who attend my old school by the length of their skirt Smile

TambaTheDragonSlayer · 08/03/2006 17:00

Mine was ok, Dark green sweatshirt, white shirt and black skirt / trousers.

For PE we had grey gym skirts and white t-shirts.

Cookey · 08/03/2006 17:02

We used to roll the waistbands over too. The trick was to get it just high enough that a little bit of your leg showed between the hem of your skirt and the top of your socks Smile

I'm sure I must win (along with the otehr mn-er who went to the same school) a brown and beige kilt in Bannockburn tartan (this was in England - so Bannockburn a particularly strange choice). It was dry clean only and very expensive and I was only allowed to have one (1,2,3,ahhh) so by the end of term it was truly rank. Cream shirts and brown jumpers. We had yellow airtex shirts, BIG brown knickers and bright orange sweatshirts for PE. I think we were allowed gym skirts when we hit 12. We had one very strange gym teacher who said we weren't allowed to wear skirts when it was indoor gym - unless we were having a period, in which case it was ok to wear a skirt to protect our modesty!!!! wtf!? oh I'm 13 and still a bit coy about these things I'll just go and put a ruddy great sign on my forehead shall I?

Cookey · 08/03/2006 17:07

I'd have bitten your hand off if you'd offered me brown gym knickers! Envy

GDG · 08/03/2006 17:07

Primary uniform - navy skirt, white shirt, navy tie with red stripes (alternating one stripe then two together), navy cardigan/jumper

Secondary uniform - navy skirt, white open neck blouse, navy jumper, school blazer

Manchester Girls Choir uniform - royal blue pinafore, pale blue shirt, dark blue velvet ribbon tied round the neck in a bow Shock

nutcracker · 08/03/2006 17:15

Juniors was white blouse, grey pinafore, grey cardi and green , yellow and blac tie i think.

Secondary was Black skirt, white blouse, black tights, black blazer and green and blue tie.

Cookey · 08/03/2006 17:16

That's just so pleasant! How dare you?Smile

No horrible stories of gym knickers?!

Smurfgirl · 08/03/2006 18:47

Primary school - grey/navy/black skirt, white polo shirt, royal blue school jumper

Secondary - Brown skirt, brown v-neck, blue shirt, blue and brown striped tie, brown skirt, brown shoes, brown blazer...

And for PE it was a blue artex shirt, royal blue gym knickers, brown gym skirt, 70s style royal blue polyester tracksuit

Uniform was a complete throwback, wouldn't mind but this was the late 90s! Massivly got the piss taken out of when walking down the street...people used to shout poo at us!

MaggieT · 08/03/2006 18:48

Oh my god - bottle green knickers at my secondary school. Compulsory for all girls.

SorenLorensen · 08/03/2006 19:09

I don't think comprehensives can compete with fee-paying schools when it comes to uniforms but mine was pretty bad. Brown scratchy polyester A-line skirt, brown scratchy polyester blazer, cream shirt, blue and brown tie, brown jumper with blue trim. And for PE - brown skirt with velcro (excellent for Bucks Fizz routines), blue aertex shirt, and...brown gym knickers with a tiny pocket. I never knew what the pocket was for. A condom?

I was also hindered by being on the small side and my Mum buying everything for me "to grow into" - ie., the blazer sleeves were so long you couldn't see my hands, the aertex shirt went past my knees...

Chocolate brown skirt, chocolate brown jumper, chocolate brown blazer with yellow and blue trim, light blue shirt and yellow and blue tie - I looked like a big jobby

SorenLorensen · 08/03/2006 19:17

Whalley Range High School for Girls, Manchester, lockets.

zippitippitoes · 08/03/2006 19:20

my first school had for winter navy skirt in some sort of woolish scratchy fabric which couldn't be washed with straps that crossed over at the back, a light red jumper with a collar which was worn with a scarlet tie, beige woollen knee socks, and a gaberdine with a belt and a beret

in summer we had a red check dress with a white collar and a bow tie and it did up the back with poppers and short white socks, blazer and a panama hat

and the only outlet supplying it was Harrods!

thewomanwhothoughtshewasahat · 08/03/2006 19:22

when I was really tiny we had polyester shirts with blue flowers on - worn with brown pinafores. At the time I thought it was HORRENDOUS. Blue and brown made my stomach turn. Now I think it was actually quite funky - and I love blue and brown together. (tho obviously not polyester)

getbakainyourjimjams · 08/03/2006 19:24

someone brroke into our school and stole 200 pairs of navy blue gym knickers.

Summer uniform was a blue dress with little tiny daisy type flowers in strips, and a purse belt!

yep we had berets too in the junior school- yo be worn with macs. Felt hats to go with the blazer.

serenity · 08/03/2006 19:26

Horrible school uniform, which could only be bought from a snobby school outfitters in Dulwich. I had an assisted place so paid no school fees, and got a bursary for part of the cost but it paid for half a blazer I think!

Olive green A line skirts, matching V neck jumpers with white and burgandy stripe, bottle green money belt, and an olive green wool blazer that smelt like wet dog when it got wet.

We also had to wear green knickers, and were 'inspected' to make sure we were wearing them Shock We soon learnt to wear great big granny green knickers over our proper ones instead (did gym in artex and knickers!)

We got called bogey bums by the other local schools.....

getbakainyourjimjams · 08/03/2006 19:27

yes jackieno! have many ridulous photos of me with my tie tied back to front!

zippitippitoes · 08/03/2006 19:28

suddenly got a memory of a leather purse on a strap that you wore all day too!

cheltenhamgal · 08/03/2006 19:29

mine was quite decent methinks, grey A-line skirt, pale blue blouses with revere collar, maroon jumper or cardigan, no tie thank god. Although my mum did insist on buying my skirts to last about 2 years so they were nearly down to my ankles. But we had to wear navy gym knickers for PE and I hated them
