Went to NUT meeting at school yesterday re pension reform. Cannot see myself teaching until 68 and who wants their kids taught by oldies not wanting to be there.

really you seem to be doom and gloom

MmeBlueberry · 01/06/2011 16:17

Can't see how you can draw that conclusion.

Apart from the personal loss to me and my colleagues, I am happy that the system is being corrected.

mrz · 01/06/2011 16:29

Really I thought you were predicting a bleak future

JunoWatt · 01/06/2011 16:30

im not in an Onion
do i get balloted?

MmeBlueberry · 01/06/2011 16:30

It depends whether you take a short or long-term view.

mrz · 01/06/2011 16:32

No Juno

MmeBlueberry · 01/06/2011 16:32

I threw my ballot paper in the bin, Juno.

(well I didn't open the latest mailing)

mrz · 01/06/2011 16:32

I don't think anyone sees it as a short term exercise

JunoWatt · 01/06/2011 16:33

oh thats ok then

can you lot do the striking and ill earn Wink and runs

MmeBlueberry · 01/06/2011 16:35

I'll be very happy if state school teachers have lots of strike days. Bring it on!

mrz · 01/06/2011 16:39

Then why are you still whinging MmeB?

MmeBlueberry · 01/06/2011 16:45

I don't believe I am!

mrz · 01/06/2011 16:46

really?

MmeBlueberry · 01/06/2011 16:50

If you have something to say, then please say it. I am totally up for a debate.

I know that you know that you are on dodgy ground with your views. If you need to unpack more, then do it.

Otherwise, we can put this particular debate to bed and reconvene on another day. Either way, I am cool with it.

mrz · 01/06/2011 17:12

Sorry MmeB I don't believe I am on dodgy ground ... I do believe you are trying to turn the debate into a state v independent conflict which it isn't so carry on whinging.

gordongrumblebum · 01/06/2011 17:21

I understood that independent school teachers were being wiped from the pension scheme altogether.

MmeBlueberry · 01/06/2011 17:31

Why would independent school teachers be wiped from the system unless it were an admission that the system was subject to unreasonable subsidy and therefore unfair on ordinary hardworking taxpayers?

MmeBlueberry · 01/06/2011 17:33

It's not and independent/maintained debate, mrz ( which I am sure you know). The point of raising the issue of independent teachers is to bring to a head that the TPS is unfair to ordinary hardworking taxpayers.

mrz · 01/06/2011 17:44

I know it1 but since you introduced it MmeB

MmeBlueberry Wed 01-Jun-11 14:53:06

I wondered what yournpoint of view was on the notion that taxpayers are subsidising private school teachers. The big sacred cow, lolol.

you appear to want to provoke conflict and cause factions Hmm

you're not Mr Gove are you?

mrz · 01/06/2011 17:46

As I have said MmeB we are all ordinary hard working taxpayers (even you) Hmm

MmeBlueberry · 01/06/2011 17:47

Indeed, mrz, quite deliberately.

MmeBlueberry · 01/06/2011 17:48

Private sector taxpayers should be treated fairly.

mrz · 01/06/2011 17:54

As a private sector taxpayer I fully agree MmeB Smile

MrsGuyOfGisbourne · 01/06/2011 17:55

Sorry - what is the logic here?
It is self-sustaining Hmm, it doesn't matter who is in, they are all participating in the funding and the pay-out, so doesn't matter whether it is state/indie teahcers, or indeed any other particpant.
If it is not self-sustaining, and taxpayers are subsidising, then all we taxpayers have a valid view on how it should operate.
Our school fees rose consideraly last year, and the explanation was the funding of the teachers pensions, if it is one fund, then all those anti-indie peopel should be rejoicing at teh fee-paying parents contributing to the general fund.for all teachers.

mrz · 01/06/2011 17:58

Perhaps you are subsidising MmeBs increased contributions MrsGofG
