How many of us have DS or DD going into year 6 and so having secondary transfer this year?

How do you feel about it?

DS goes back to school next Monday into class 6.

He has been at same school since Jan 1999, so sort of 7 years this year.

There is one class per year and they are a very close class, have got 26 children.

How do you feel about them entering into their last year at Junior school?

I feel sad that he is going to be leaving.

Is there anybody else who is going through this especially for the first time?

DS doesn't have any younger siblings so when he leaves primary school that will be the end for the family as well. IYSWIM.

Added to this is the secondary transfer issues.

I am sure when it comes to next summer he will be ready to leave as will probably grown up alot by then.

I was just wondering if others were thinking the same as me or whether it is just me being a silly neurotic mother again

Roisin hopefully they won't be doing them then Smile

Celia no he doesn't get any extra time -- it is a very long story that I won't bore you with now. But his hypermobility is more a problem with his legs and esp. his knees.

DS2 says it was to do with materials changing states, and that was the one that couldn't change back (because it had dissolved). I think thats what he meant!

RTKangaMummy · 08/05/2006 17:29

I will ask DS when he gets home

I drove him to DH school and so he is spending some time there and walking home

He said paper 2 he finished really quickley which is a bit worrying if yours didn't finish - hope he didn't make loads of silly mistakes

I said did he read through and check answers he said he did

He said there was a question on Issac newton which was good cos he has been reading all about him and einstein

RTKangaMummy · 08/05/2006 20:51

Thanks for that Smile

Science and English are his best subjects and as DH is Head of Chemistry, DS has an interest in chemistry - he loves using the molecule models and learning all about chemistry

Maths is his least fav.

DS said that they didn't have any time away from lessons today

ICT + geog etc

I think they should have had some fun stuff to do

What did your guys do afterwards?

DD did PE and spanish.

She got the dissolving question right, then said that she found both exams boringShock, but didn't quite finish the last page of the last paper (she's a little slow at writing), she also mentioned the question regarding Isaac Newton.

RTKangaMummy · 08/05/2006 21:11

Wow does she do spanish and french????

No, just spanish which I think is great, however, her secondary school just do french and german which is a shame.

RTKangaMummy · 08/05/2006 21:28

so she will have knowledge of 2 languages Smile

How are we all coping with SATs??????

DS will be the only one not doing cycling prof next week and DH went to see head today and asked if he could be given a job to do.

The stupid woman {head} said the other children wouldn't notice that he was the only one NOT doing it cos they do it in 2 groups

AngryAngryAngrySadSadSad

I feel sooooooooo frustrated with her sometimes

literacy all finished :)(DS hates writing stories but said the topics were good so he should be ok). Only Maths now!

Hallgerda · 12/05/2006 12:19

DS1 and friends are having an end-of-SATs party this afternoon on the school field with ice cream! And it's great weather for it.

RTKM, I hope the cycling proficiency problem is resolved - what are the school going to do with your son for the week? Angry with the Head on your behalf!

RTKangaMummy · 12/05/2006 12:48

A party sounds a deffo brill idea Smile

I don't know what they will do with him really next week

A letter came home yesterday with all the details

day 1 = 2 hours on the bikes

and 2, 3, 4, & 5 = 1 hour per day

I wish I had the guts to keep him home for the week

On Tuesday afternoon he has his medical and chat with Head of Lower school @ senior school, so we are sorted for then

But the rest of it I don't know SadSadAngry
