Has anyone used Hermes couriers? Are they Ok or dodgy?

Frrrightattendant · 30/10/2009 08:14

I had to send something back tracked, so decided to use these people as they were cheap.
In hindsight I ought to have used parcelforce but anyway...

parcel picked up on Weds. Courier is our usual home shopping guy, so far so good.

The delivery is meant to take 3-5 days. I've checked the tracking, nothing on Weds, Thurs it says 'collected at 13.08 weds'

There is nothing else yet. I rang the company. I get Janice who has only been there a week but tries to log into the screen which shows them 'more detail'. It says 'collected' too.

I ask Janice whether there is anyone else I can speak to as I am not feeling reassured. (I have seen some awful reviews on the net by now)

She looks around,
'Can't see anyone, no...'

I tell Janice I will call back later. She is very nice. My parcel is probably in Outer Mongolia by now.

Help.

I've sent 30 parcels with them in the last few days, all good so far and no queuing in the post office.

I have ordered some stuff from USC based on next day delivery. It was supposed to be delivered next day, but today I received a message that Hermes made an attempt, but there wasn't any response. I have been sitting in my sitting from 7 in the morning till now and no body even knocked on my door. I contacted Hermes via online chat and received the same information. They know how to justify themselves, they know how to cover themselves too. When I said, nobody left anything on my doorstep, then I was sent this information: (On a missed collection or delivery, the courier may choose to leave a contact number on the calling card. However, our couriers do not have to leave their details as they are self-employed and use their personal mobile phones) . Also, when I called on their number: 0330 333 6556, after providing all the information, I was asked to contact my retailer as they don't have any information. During the online chat, the so-called guy Saeed told me that his firm Hermes is different than other Hermes home delivery company. This company is a total liar, they changed their name recently to Hermes, but they haven't changed their old stupid tactics. I am sick of them now. I will post this to each and every blog, atleast Hermes could know, how sick they are.

ONLY IF YOU EXPECT TO EVER SEE YOUR PARCEL AGAIN, THEY ARE TOTAL RUBBISH!!! USE THEM AT YOUR PERIL, I HAVE FIRST HAND EXPERIENCE OF THIS, ALSO READ REVIEWS ON THEM, THE LIVE CHAT WILL TELL YOU ANYTHING JUST TO GET YOU OFF OF THE CHAT

Ragusa · 02/12/2017 19:39

I've used them a lot (as a seller) and have only ever had one problem, which was rectified at their cost quite quickly.. I think it depends on where you are. They are the absolute cheapest usually. They will collect from your house for 50p, ffs!

aituahi · 06/05/2018 10:24

Disgraceful service. A luggage bag sent from Luton to Glasgow in April 2018 went missing - stolen by their staff. Last tracking showed it arrived Glasgow but between their depot and the recipients house it went missing. Their compensation scheme was also ridiculous. My mum who lives oversea was disappointed that a crap service like this is allowed in the courier sector. Please do not use them. Do trust them unless you are sending dead Autumn leaves to nobody.
Gabriel.

The last time that happened to one of my Hermes deliveries, I also assumed the driver had nicked the parcel but it turned up safe and sound at the delivery address. What had happened is that the driver hadn't bothered to scan the parcel to confirm the status as "delivered".

RedWineAllMine · 08/05/2018 01:38

Avoid this firm like a bullet. Terrible for not delivering stuff and items mysteriously going missing.

CointreauVersial · 10/05/2018 14:24

Have sent hundreds of eBay parcels with them, never had a single problem.

nauticant · 11/05/2018 10:15

Same number here but I'd say I have a problem in about 1% of cases.
