Right, new thread ready to make cash for Christmas!
Good luck Ebayers.

That is true!! I must leave MN now because all I have done in an hour is 3 listings!! Off to make Mickey Mouse waffles then definitely going to tidy the cupboard!!!

sushistar · 07/11/2009 10:57

Umm, hi...
I'm a bit late, I see you started this in August, but can I join in? I want to set myself of making £100 by Christmas on ebay, and I HAVE to sell some stuff because DS2 is due in Jan and we need the space and money...
Have started with 3 bits so far, but have a bugaboo sun canopy to list later today which will hopefully give me a good start...
here

Thing is I only have stuff that's not worth much, so I'll have to do a LOT of listings to get to my £100 target!

mogs0 · 07/11/2009 11:15

Hi!! I only joined this one a couple of weeks ago. I'm desperate to get rid of all the bits and pieces that are redundant in this house but I'm sure will have a purpose in someone else's!!

I really am going now!!!

GunpowderTortoiseAndPlot · 07/11/2009 15:33

Good luck sushi .

Finally have a bid on childs clarks boots and 10 watchers.

sushistar · 07/11/2009 19:46

Thanks for the welcome, it's always a bit scary joining a looong thread where everyone knows each other already!
How much have you made so far Mogs? Do you have a target amount?

I only have 2 watchers on one of my items and 1 on another, and noone on the third! But to be honest with stuff like clothes I'm more interested in getting it sold and out of the house than making loads.

I'm about to list my bugaboo bee pink hood - it's as new, from an ex-display bee we bought last week for DS2 (I'm not sure he'll mind a pink hood, but DH will!). Do you think I should put a reserve on it? I've never used that feature before but I don't want it going for tuppence...

sushistar · 07/11/2009 20:16

Just tried to list some printer catridges at 0.99p and the postage HAD to be £0.00 - so I had to make the starting price 3.50 to cover the postage costs, which then meant I had to pay ebay fees! Cheek!

IdrisTheDragon · 07/11/2009 20:21

Hello sushi

I think ebay are getting more mean and evil personally (they have suddenly stopped you from charging any postage on books )

Am listing grobags. It bothers me that in ebay's description they call the make "Growbag". This is Wrong.

IdrisTheDragon · 07/11/2009 20:23

Sushi I looked at your listing and see you have a spotlessly clean house. I would get done under the Trades Description Act for putting that I think

sushistar · 07/11/2009 20:27

Ha I can't say 'pet free' (I had to push the cat out of the way before I could take the pic!) but my house is not covered in cat hair thanks to mr Dyson iyswim, so it was the only way I could think of putting it!

I bought a top for DS on ebay once and although it had been washed the ariel smell did not hide the cigarette and dog fumes it reeked of - and there was dog hair packaged up with it. LOTS of dog hair. Manky.

sushistar · 07/11/2009 20:28

Agree with you about the grobags. Email them and let them know!

IdrisTheDragon · 07/11/2009 20:31

Cat is moved out of our photos .

I don't buy things on ebay unless it says it is from a smoke free house I have to admit.

sushistar · 07/11/2009 20:41

Smoke is the worst, you have to wash things a LOT to get rid of the smell.

sushistar · 07/11/2009 20:42

I copuld use the cat as a marketing tool - 'Ink cartridges - with FREE cat!!!'

What r u selling Idris? Are you trying to make a certain amount by Christmas?

IdrisTheDragon · 07/11/2009 20:44

I'm just wanting to make any amount of money . Have been selling since mid September and made about £100 so far selling clothes, an ipod shuffle and some books.

Need to check over some used Playmobil advent calendars we have as I'm hoping selling them can part fund some new ones for this year.

sushistar · 07/11/2009 20:48

I've never had a lot of luck with books. I sold some old uni textbooks in early OCt (timed it right!) but otherwise they seem too heavy and so I have to up the starting price and they don't sell.

Bellared · 07/11/2009 20:56

Wow, you're all doing really well apart from the odd awkward customer!

I've had to re-list almost everything as 1 seller bought alot. She did not pay within a week so I contacted her to remind her to pay. I got a reply saying her son was ill and she was waiting in for deliveries even though when I looked at her items for sale and feedback she had been out of the house. So I left it another week and nothing. Then, when I checked her account she had disappeared! Argggggggggggh!

What have you done with the items you've re-listed a few times and just not sold?

Bellared · 07/11/2009 20:59

BTW. I worked for City Link for almost 7 years so if you have any courier questions just ask and I'll do my best to answer you.

sushistar · 07/11/2009 21:07

Bellared why are all your listings in 'Baby' except the dinosaur jumpers which are in 'boys clothing'? Just curious.

sushistar · 07/11/2009 21:34

Hooray, listed 2 more items - this tread has been good for me already! Even though I haven't sold anything yet at least I'm actually listing the darn stuff instead of having it piled up in boxes on the landing

sushistar · 07/11/2009 21:35

Bellared, I've only ever listed stuff twice - I gave up after the 2nd time. It starts to become counterproductive in terms of making money I think...

GunpowderTortoiseAndPlot · 07/11/2009 21:36

I relist around 3 times before either putting them away for a bit or putting them in a charity shop.

Looks like that is where my boots will be going if the 1 watcher doesn't bid! Going by the other thread anyway! Everyone hates them!

mogs0 · 07/11/2009 21:39

Sushi - my current total is nearly £350 (plus £160 on current listing) because I've just sold a few high value items. Also, I've sold a couple of items for friends so I can't really include that in my total!! My main objective is to clear some clutter (obviously the extra cash is very useful!!).

I've just been digging around in toy boxes trying to find various bits that go with ds' wooden garage but there are so many to find!! I don't know whether to list everything in one lot or break it up into smaller lots. Altogether I have an ELC garage, a Plan-Toy airport, an ELC car-wash, an ELC rescue centre and about 20 vehicles. Any suggestions?

Bellared - that's really bad that she just disappeared. I usually start my auctions at 99p and if they don't sell after 2 auctions they go back in the cupboard to the charity shop (eventually!).

I'm off to look for more garage stuff!

sushistar · 07/11/2009 21:45

Well done Mogs that's a great total!

Can I ask all of your advice on how to list this pink hood for the bugaboo bee I have? I pretty much always list things at 0.99p but I want at least £15 for this - should I use a higher starting price, or a reserve price, or what?

sushistar · 07/11/2009 21:46

show me your boots gunpwder?

GunpowderTortoiseAndPlot · 07/11/2009 21:49

boots are here. Size as well as people saying they are horrible seems to be reason for no bids!!!
