Summer Ebay Challenge!!! Shall we try for another £300?

I need motivating to de-clutter and make my bank account look a bit healthier!!! I've got loads of bags and boxes packed with car-boot stuff that didn't sell the other week so might start with that and list those things at 99p just to make a bit of space.

Anyone with me? Shall we set the deadline for end of Summer term (about the 18th July here)?

Late in joining but have so much junk to clear out so going to start tonight would like to make £500 for the summer!

TheOtherMaryPoppinsDiets · 05/05/2009 20:29

Eeek! Bulgaria is on a lot of the EBay forum peoples list of countries they will not send to as there are so many problems that end with postal service. Wishing you luck, make sure it's insured!!

Tortoise · 05/05/2009 21:15

More items listed

Not sure if i should add more or not. Don't want to struggle to post them if lots sell .

Only listed one thing, I've spent most of the BH weekend doing my accounts for last year (just submitted my Tax Return!!!! Earliest ever for me & Tax Credits renewal). In 08/09 I spent over £500 on Postage and I wasn't even Ebaying for most of the year . And so far this year I've spent £120+ !

Tortoise · 05/05/2009 22:10

Decided not to list more tonight. Will wait until thurs/fri.
Have photographed it all and weighed each item and noted it all down. So it shouldn't take so long to list next time!

FlappytheBat · 05/05/2009 22:40

Made £170 tonight, both ds Lites sold with a good price. Have 3 games ending tomorrow and they are currently up at £18.

Will get baby clothes organised at the weekend and probably list them on Sunday.

Tortoise · 05/05/2009 22:42

That is good Flappy.
Helps the total add up if you have items worth more. I have nothing like that to sell but will keep plodding on.

Forgot about the bloody paypal fees, they really do like to take as much money off you as possible!

It does all add up though and will help my non existent bank balance

Will be back to reality next week when I start listing my usual stuff.

Tortoise · 05/05/2009 23:07

Oh yes paypal do like to take a big chunk! Very annoying!

TheOtherMaryPoppinsDiets · 06/05/2009 07:48

Aimsmum, whatever you do don't send without insurance, the insurance is for you not them, you will be the one left out of pocket should it "not turn up".

That goes for everyone actually, regardless of country, don't send anything less than recorded.

Aimsmum, gorgeous clothes, P&P is quite high though and might put people off or lead them to mark low on the feedback stars. A little T Shirt will probably only cost 44p - 66p to post so still room to make a little profit on postage if you lower the costs.

FlappytheBat · 06/05/2009 10:46

Agree re postage&packing being quite high, those prices would put me off, sorry.

Have just posted ds lites and games this morning, ds was sent 2nd class recorded and cost £2.60, games only cost £0.76, already had the packing in the house.
Think that the fact I offered free P&P helped as I got £80 for dh's ds which is an awful lot more than I was expecting.

I used to be tempted to make P&P higher but start my listings at 99p, now I'm going to offer cheap/free P&P but start with a slightly higher price.

Think it will (hopefully) swing in roundabouts re fees.

Tortoise · 06/05/2009 11:39

I weigh everything and work out postage from there. Normally add 20p or round it up a bit.

Couple of watchers on newly listed stuff. So fingers crossed for some bidders!

I need to package up DS1's mobile and get that sent. Probably be tomorrow now.

Games only cost 76p each to post 2nd class and weighed 130g.

Last year I bought lots of plastic packing envelopes, which work out at a few pence each and weigh very little.
We are going to have to offer free P&P soon on lots of different items, although on eBay site says clothing accessories so might be able to still charge for sending out clothes.

Would love to be able to include ALL fees though in the selling price too

that's the problem, have to be strict with myself and not spend what I earn!

have just found apple iSight camera, that can go on eBay too, have new laptop with built in webcam.

off to check to see how much they go for!!

mygirllollipop · 06/05/2009 13:27

I'm the same with spending money in my paypal account!
Made another £15 yesterday bringing my total to £120. I don't think I will make the target (!) but have a few small bits to go on tomorrow which might take me to £130.
I am on a couple of swapping sites for books and clothes and have done about 15 swaps in the last couple of weeks so although I have more junk stuff in my house, I have got rid of stuff I didn't want (and would have been ebayed) and have stuff I do want.

Tortoise · 06/05/2009 13:46

Another one here trying not to spend money in Paypal!
Only essential items like Birthday presents which will save me money in the long run!

FlappytheBat · 06/05/2009 13:59

My problem this time, was I'd spent the money before I had even sold anything

Luckily for me, the gamble has paid off!!!

Will have made £200 this week

SNOWBall4girlz · 06/05/2009 22:04
