bid on pair of shoes-starting price £5 im only bidder.30 minutes to go i get this email-
hi sorry but i have just realised that i put the wrong start bid price for the shoes as i'm selling them for a friend and she said to put start bid of £15 not £5 so sorry but when this listing ends i will have to relist them at the proper start bid, as she paid over £50 for them brand new.
what can i do.

No that's not right -if you win them them you can put a dispute in if she does that, the contract is binding and if she got it wrong she should have removed the listing, my guess is that she thought she'd get a lot more and is backpedalling now because she cocked up.

This is ridiculous. The whole e-bay auction thing is a contract between you and seller/buyer.
If you win them at £5 or whatever, I believe they are legally YOURS.
It is her mistake and she should be honouring her auction start price etc. x

Sounds to me like she has had a higher offer via email or something.

Only use the email message system in ebay as it can be tracked.

I would state the contract agreement and do a search on 'Seller Non-Performance' and say you are looking into ebays policy on this.

This happened to me with an extremely barginous pair of LK Bennett shoes. The seller emailed me to say that they had made a mistake with the starting price and was withdrawing the auction. I looked into it at the time and it appeared to be ok.

Was very pissed off but just sent a snotty email to the seller and left it. I wasn't out of pocket after all.

Shes only doing it as she expected more. I've got much less than expected before for items but hey, thats just tough luck, I still honoured the buyers and sent them out at the price they paid. I agree, send messages via the ebay message box and make sure you say that as the messages can be traced by ebay you will have to report her and ask them to investigate. Make sure your first one is simply stating the fact you one the item fairly and she should send out after payment. Hopefully she will then reply with 'no i'm relisting' or ' i will if you pay the extra £10'. Then tell her that's fine you will have to report it :D Hopefully she will then realise she is being silly.

Cheeky cow! She obviously hoped to get more for the shoes and that there would be more bids. She can't revise the listing as it is too late, stick to your guns and hopefully win them for a fiver!
If she refuses to sell them for that then leave negative feeback explaining situation.

just read this on ebay help-
You might end your listing early because:

The item is no longer available for sale. (Please note that you shouldn't list an item on eBay if there's a chance you'll sell it elsewhere before the listing ends.)

There was an error in the starting price or reserve amount (and it's too late to change the reserve amount).

There was an error in the listing.

The item was lost or broken.

Note: You don't need to email us to tell us why you ended a listing early. However, please tell any bidders as soon as you realise you'll need to end the listing.

If it's too late to edit or end your listing, for example, it's less than 12 hours before the end of the auction, you must contact any bidders to explain what's happened.

I don't think she can end early as it is too late - anyone else agree on this? I havbe never had to end a listing.

Do not pay an extra £10 to this woman, you will not be protected in anyway with paypal. You should only pay what the invoice states, which should be your winning bid and postage. Do not pay anything extra.
The more expensive the start and end bid, the more fees she will pay too. She will avoid paying her fees if you give her more money, this is also against ebay rules.

Personally I would tell her to stuff her shoes where the sun don't shine!

it was ebay email.i saw them last week in shop for £25.if i pay her £15 plus £6 p and p i may as well have new from shop.2 minutes to go

I don't think the error rule applies here. She must have seen the start price quite a few times previously and did nothing about it, I think that would maybe apply if you listed an item, checked the next day, realised the error but there was a bid (you cannot amend these things once there is a bid). With half an hour to go she is chancing her luck. Wait until it is finished, send a nice friendly 'I won fair, are you going to send?' await a response and then tell her you will report her. Just to be nosey, what is the item number

ask for invoice? If you send payment by paypal, she can refuse it. That won't cost you anything though so you could also do that.

Lol, I think they are cool but probably wouldn't get away with them. They are a bit like irregular choice shoes, love them but would probably just take them out the box, look at them, then put them back

After looking at ebay policies regarding your error in start price I believe this is not allowed. You must have had various opportunities to cancel the listing as you will have noticed the error much earlier that 30 minutes before the end time. I can understand you may be disappointed to have not got quite as much as you had expected but I won the auction fairly and as the seller you are obliged to send me the item at the price stated.

No need to invoice her at all, for all she knows you could have gone to bed ages ago!
Just ignore her and then request invoice, pay, and if she doesn't like it and asks to withdraw, report her.
And certainly don't pay her any more money, the whole point of ebay is that the price they end up at, is the price they are sold for!
Mind you someone else might bid at the last minute, that usually happens after I've gone to bed.
