I have sold an item for babies/toddlers and have received a message asking for 'discreet packaging'. A little bit of online searching reveals that the buyer is a teenage boy living in a very rural area. It is an item that somebody could use for other than its intended purpose, iyswim.

I don't feel comfortable sending out the item, but don't want to totally embarrass them either. They have paid but I haven't posted yet.

If buyer is an adult (and he'd have to be, I think to be purchasing online?), just pack it up and send.

Crispbutty · 04/05/2018 13:13

Just post it in brown wrapping.

NerrSnerr · 04/05/2018 13:17

I would just stick in a Jiffy bag or wrap up well. I'm now intrigued what it is he's bought and what you think he's going to do with it?

BadSkiingMum · 04/05/2018 13:38

It is not the packaging that bothers me - I have plenty of that - it is more the reason he is buying it. It is something that could be used for a slightly 'suspect' purpose.

If I wanted to get out of this sale, what is the best way to do it?

You know you just HAVE to tell us what it is don't you 😀

Shinygoldbauble · 04/05/2018 13:59

Maybe it's for a gift and he doesn't want to ruin a surprise.
Also teenage boys can have kids.
If he pays i'd send it.

Shinygoldbauble · 04/05/2018 14:00

And what does living in a rural area have to do with it?

NerrSnerr · 04/05/2018 14:04

You have to tell us what it is. I'm trying to think what baby product can be used suspiciously in a rural area?

DollyLlama · 04/05/2018 14:32

Its not a breast pump or something is it? Hmm trying to imagine what a teenage boy could use that would need discretion!

GrowThroughWhatYouGoThrough · 04/05/2018 14:34

Ohhh I want to know what it is!!

SparklySeashell · 04/05/2018 14:36

What is it???

MurielsBottom · 04/05/2018 14:36

Honestly, as long as he isn't go to hurt anyone else I don't see the problem. Not sure what being rural has to do with it though?

Crispbutty · 04/05/2018 14:40

Im dying to know what it is. To be fair though, its up to him what he does with it.

19lottie82 · 04/05/2018 15:03

No, we don’t! Spill! I’m guessing it’s for something kinky?

As long as it isn’t for anything illegal then just send it. It’s not really your job to police your buyers.

GlitteryFluff · 04/05/2018 15:28

Could be a present for someone in the house?
I suppose we need more info.

FrillySpidersWillies · 04/05/2018 15:29

What is the item op

BadSkiingMum · 04/05/2018 18:00

Something for wee and poo! I mentioned the rural area because I guessed that he couldn't just walk into his local shops and buy it...

OP posts:
NerrSnerr · 04/05/2018 18:12

Come on OP, just tell us properly what he's bought. Nappies? A potty? What do you think he's going to do with them?

BadSkiingMum · 04/05/2018 19:58

OK, I really just wanted advice on cancelling the sale - not to get into embarrassing speculation. I am not going to spell it out.

OP posts:
Cel982 · 04/05/2018 21:01

OP, I think you think you’ve dropped major hints, but you really haven’t. I have NO CLUE what the item could be - something infant-toileting-related that could have a kinky other use?! Nappies, wipes, a potty, pants... what else could it be?

PatchworkElmer · 04/05/2018 21:03

Another clueless person here...

lljkk · 04/05/2018 21:08

It could be a gift for someone else in his household! Hence request for discreet.
How can you know the buyer is a teenager?
If it's not criminal or violent purpose, let him do his thing.

lljkk · 04/05/2018 21:09

His girlfriend is expecting a child & he hasn't summoned courage to tell his folks yet?

PoohBearsHole · 04/05/2018 21:13

i had someone ask me if the child’s shoes I was selling were really dirty and all the better if they were. he’d bid. i blocked. really depends on the item🙂

EleanorHooverbelt · 05/05/2018 08:58

I really just wanted advice on cancelling the sale

Contact the site you are using. If Ebay, they will have rules and regs about that I'm sure.
