Not sure about condition of eBay item

I bid on and win a brand new pram. It's arrived today and has quite a few scratches on. The box it came in was fairly damaged but I'm not sure the marks and scratches were caused in transit.

What are my rights if I don't want to keep it? I got it cheaper than retail but not cheap enough to be happy about the scratches.

no you can't block her messages. If she goes crazy - well not your problem is it. Just report to eBay.

19lottie82 · 28/10/2015 23:54

If eBay do refund you and she hasn't had it collected, you're under no obligation to return the buddy but I'd just send her a message telling her that as a good will gesture, you will hold it for X days if she wishes to arrange collection, after that it will be disposed of.

CointreauVersial · 29/10/2015 00:18

OMG, what a loon! I hope you sort it out soon. You don't need this stress. No heart?! You're only asking for the money back that you paid her in the first place!

For future reference, never buy big stuff on eBay from someone with no seller feedback!

TiredMummy2015 · 30/10/2015 11:13

I contacted the courier myself today and they say the collection was cancelled as "not required".

I have well and truly learn my lesson - never buy anything big from ebay!

OP posts:
nauticant · 30/10/2015 11:41

But it does look like you're getting there. Fingers crossed.

summerwinterton · 30/10/2015 11:44

well in that case you will get your money, and daft seller won't get the pram back will they

nauticant · 30/10/2015 11:45

I do wonder though whether the seller thought that all she had to do was create a courier collection reference and this would make ebay say "everything now looks fine here, we'll close the case".

summerwinterton · 30/10/2015 11:46

yup - she does seem utterly clueless, and obstructive, rude and just not very nice.

TiredMummy2015 · 30/10/2015 12:09

I have no idea what she thinks....

She did message me to say that I am "dicgusting" because I said that her personal circumstances were not my concern. I was only trying to warn her that I would get an automatic refund if she didn't collect by Sunday. I'm not sure why she thinks that I, a complete stranger who is only aware of her existence because she has tried to con me, would care about her baby being premature enough to write off nearly £700!

I am not heartless (as she claims) but if the story is true, then she knew that she would be in this situation several weeks ago. She chose to drag this out and have it hanging over her. If I knew that my baby was going to be in intensive care after birth I would not be interested in getting into protracted wrangling over a bloody buggy and would have sorted it out asap before the birth.

In any case I have warned her that ebay will take the money from her account so what happens next is at her own risk.

they will already have frozen the money, or put her Paypal in neg balance, so she hasn't got a leg to stand on.

glammanana · 01/11/2015 17:12

I've just spent part of the afternoon reading this awful saga and feel so much for the OP,I hope you have had your money back and you can now relax I have never read anything so disgusting in all my time on e-bay what a complete idiot the seller is she must think we are all mad to believe the stuff she has come out with lies right the way through, what a disgrace to the sellers who work so hard to give a good service.

TiredMummy2015 · 01/11/2015 19:50

No, still rumbling on I'm afraid!
I'm hoping I will get my automatic refund tomorrow and that the seller is lying when she said eBay have allowed her more time due to her personal circumstances.

I have contacted hermes and they are useless! The collection on the 29th was cancelled but I can't get them to confirm whether it has been rearranged. They keep responding with scripted replies and seem to think I booked the collection.

Omg.

I'm just stunned at how far this has gone.

Can you open a PayPal case aswell?

I've had to phone Ebay before, more then once. And ta a joyless experience and quite expensive!!

I hope this gets resolved for you. And that crazy lady doesn't give you anymore grief afterwards.

Good luck with baby and birth. Hope she hasn't ruined your pregnancy too much! Thanks

TiredMummy2015 · 02/11/2015 07:10

Aarggh eBay have placed this on hold for another 5 days!!!!!!!!

OP posts:
LiftWantedAroundTheWorld · 02/11/2015 07:21

OMG Shock

Ring Ebay up and see if you can talk to an actual person. That should help.

MrsDeathOfRats · 02/11/2015 07:47

No way. That is horrendous.

I would call. I would be creating hell.
When you get through on the phone don't explain your problem, ask immediately to speak to someone in charge. You want a manager. The higher up you go the more chance you have of speaking to someone with had a brain cell

Can you try to claim it back through PayPal aswell?

BrendaandEddie · 02/11/2015 07:54

This is so interesting and frustrating for you op. I had an unhinged buyer once who basically changed her mind about something and tried to make out id lied

NannyOggsHedgehogs · 02/11/2015 07:55

Wow, what a saga! No practical help from here, but if you get a refund and to keep the buggy I'm sure there are local charities that would be thrilled to take it off your hands - ask at your local children's centre, they usually have links to the right places

bellybuttonfluffy · 02/11/2015 07:59

What a nightmare! Phone back, and quote how you were told in the previous phone call that this would have ended by now and they were no way going to delay it longer. I think the best thing to do is just keep phoning ebay and keep on at their case. Certainly not what you want to be doing with your circumstances, but I think it's the only way this will be resolved anytime soon.

TiredMummy2015 · 02/11/2015 08:54

I will call again but am not holding out much hope now.

I cannot even order my own buggy as I don't have funds until I get this money back and I don't have space to store 2 double buggies.

OP posts:
summerwinterton · 02/11/2015 10:00

Or I would be speaking to your bank - if Verified by Visa you can claim back the funds?

glammanana · 02/11/2015 12:08

The seller is obviously spinning e-bay some fantastic yarn to have the time extended another 5 days she must be very convincing when she phones them ?? I hope you get it sorted soon xx glamma xx

TiredMummy2015 · 02/11/2015 14:08

Well she is probably telling them about her premature baby to make them feel sorry for her. The premature baby that she apparently knew she would be having weeks beforehand but still chose to not sort this out.

I called ebay and the person I spoke to said he would force through a decision in my favour to get me an automatic refund, but that it would be 3-5 days before I would receive anything. So I'm in the same place I was this morning - basically on hold for another 5 days. I should have a refund by the end of this week but am sceptical that they won't have yet another reason for dragging it out.

OP posts:
nauticant · 02/11/2015 14:30

If ebay feel so sorry for the buyer they should refund you out of their own money and hold a baby shower for her.

Keep on at it OP.

19lottie82 · 02/11/2015 16:10

OP once eBay instruct the refund it can take 3-5 days to be re applied to your card via PayPal (just like any form of refund applied back to a card)..... Are you sure this isn't what the CS rep meant?
