I'm getting back into my eBaying, massive clear outs will keep me busy over this free listings weekend, wondered if anyone wanted to join me in making Christmas as cheap as possible and having the good people of eBay pay for most of it!

SilveryMoon · 31/10/2012 03:05

Oh crap. Just thought, do I have to send an invoice or something when I send buyer their item? I have no ink in my printer

TeWiDoesTheHulaInHawaii · 31/10/2012 07:35

I don't wait until they pay before you post anything and then you don't need to.

If you have a non-payer there's an option to send an invoice online.

MOSagain · 31/10/2012 08:36

SM I'd never sent an invoice until yesterday when we had an overseas buyer so P & P was more so DH did it online and sent it via ebay

SNOWBall4girlz · 31/10/2012 15:39

Well my total is about £160 I think i lose track because i delete items after they have sold and spend the money in my paypal as quick as it gets there :)

Going to try to list bundles as i think people are put off by the postage for one item.
Selling a couple of dresses for my niece trying the 99p start but only got one watcher so might have to stop the auction if no bids on it soon.

SNOWBall4girlz · 31/10/2012 15:40

try again

SNOWBall4girlz · 31/10/2012 15:42

i find that most people pay before I can issue an invoice but have to edit and send invoices to non Uk buyers.

HalleLouja · 31/10/2012 18:34

Nearly £33 today and over an hour to go. Keep on bidding people. Some Green Baby leggings have gone crazy here. Its funny what sells for good money you can't always guess. Though Green Baby have recently gone out of business - I used to love their stuff [hsad].

HalleLouja · 31/10/2012 18:36

Sorry make that £36.

SilveryMoon · 31/10/2012 19:18

Thanks everyone. I won't bother then.
Just a quick question......... an item I put up was sold but when I go into the summary page it says that payment is pending but the item is eligible for a Second Chance Offer. What does that mean?

fergoose · 31/10/2012 19:30

did you put the wrong email address on the listing - or is it an echeque?

TeWiDoesTheHulaInHawaii · 31/10/2012 19:31

I'm not sure... I think it says second chance whenever you had more than 1 bidder, so if the sale falls through you can offer it to the other bidder.

Bit upset that I've had my first positive feedback but slightly negative comment. I don't know why they didn't contact me to tell me there was an issue.

I feel like it gives a false impression, when I try really hard to be helpful/resolve issues, even if that just means giving a refund.

SilveryMoon · 31/10/2012 19:47

Thanks. I have the payment being held in my paypal account, just checked it.
TeWi that sucks.

So now I have to send the item.
Do I need to purchase the postage from the paypal page? I don't want to go all through the process incase I have to print somethingout at the end, so can I just do it at the post office like normal?

TeWiDoesTheHulaInHawaii · 31/10/2012 19:54

You can just take it to the PO, I always do it that way. If you click on more actions and then view order details you can see their address.

Does anyone know how long it takes for paypal to refund money btw?

SilveryMoon · 31/10/2012 20:01

Brilliant. Thank you TeWi Smile
I have no idea about anything at all, so can't offer you any help in return! Wink

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 31/10/2012 20:39

Oh well, 3 things sold for a grand total of £15.14 before p+p

SNOWBall4girlz · 01/11/2012 23:53

oh well only sold one thing just got to find it now so I can get it in the post :)

Relisted ten items but wondering if I might be free listing again fingers crossed before I relist any more.
my stuff here

SilveryMoon · 02/11/2012 01:32

I sold 2 items yesterday and 1 today. Just waiting for 2 of them to be paid for so I can send them. So far I'm up £5.45! First time I've attempted to sell anything though so all good

lljkk · 02/11/2012 09:20

MOSAgain I reckon women's clothes don't sell all that well. Look at completed listings for items you have to sell (advanced search feature), to see how they might do. Big names & hard to get stuff can go well; i have been watching NYDJ items for months now, waiting for my size to come up.

ARRRRRGGGGHHHH.
Twice I have moved to cancel transactions recently (but buyer refused, so Ebay gets FVF after all because you can only try to cancel once). I think maybe the trick is to get Ebay messages to confirm that they are willing to cancel before going thru the actual formal Cancel steps (Resolution Centre).

I am probably pants, these are my cancelled transactions of late:

  1. School PE trainers, only I neglected to say in listing that our surname was written inside the shoe; I double checked with buyer who said please cancel (at least they did agree to cancel).

  2. I sent a BNWOT t-shirt for 99p only for buyer to find a small (5p size) hole in it. Buyer refused to cancel because he didn't see I had already sent refund. But he hasn't NEGd me, at least. I moved heaven & earth to post it out to him 1st class next day, perhaps he appreciated that.

  3. I listed something (vague about this as still active problem). It went unsold, I sold it off Ebay but when I was doing mass relisting I relisted it after all (aack). Sure enough it sold this time, I explained to buyer, but she rejected cancel because she didn't like the reason I put down for why I wanted to cancel (Ran out of stock, it was closest of the tickbox options, guess she thinks I'm a trader-scammer). I am offering some alternatives, will see what she says.

  4. Old conventional compact camera, worked fine for us, safely stored. Sure enough buyer found an unobvious crack in casing. Probably been there for years & worked fine for us with that defect, but buyer was nice about it, at least (& did cancel).

  5. Chest Heart monitor that spontaneously disintegrated in transit. This guy gave me a neutral (pout).

  6. I am double checking with a buyer about some books because the binding has more worn spots than I realised; they are implied in the Ebay-tickbox about condition ("Acceptable") but I didn't detail the binding wear in great detail in the text description. Will see what buyer says

I have feedback recorded for 4) & 5), cancelling a transaction definitely does not prevent feedback being left.

TeWiDoesTheHulaInHawaii · 02/11/2012 09:49

I don't know about you llykk but feel like I have learnt my lesson about going through listings really thoroughly. It's not worth the chance on feedback.

Tortoise · 03/11/2012 06:11

Just got free listing email Smile. I was hoping it would be this weekend.

PurpleFrog · 03/11/2012 08:24

Got mine as well! THat's a bit cheeky - sending the email after the FLW has actually started!

I plan to make full use of it this time round...

SilveryMoon · 03/11/2012 08:49

Is it free listing now? Ok. I have some digging around to do!

I sold an item on 31/10 and another on 1/11, neither have been paid for. How long do I wait?

lljkk · 03/11/2012 10:26

Have you sent an invoice, Silvery?
I am usually laid back & wouldn't initiate NPB proceedings until a week or so has passed, but you are entitled to start the procedure 4 days after auction ends.

Ebay have done it before (put up announcement late, I mean).
Oh well, we are private sellers, we are supposed to grovel & be grateful Hmm

SilveryMoon · 03/11/2012 10:37

Ok. Thanks. I'm not too fussed, can wait just wasn't sure what the norm is.
I emailed invoices yesterday. I'll give it a week.

Dingle · 03/11/2012 15:48

Hi there, I've sold on Ebay for a few years now but only on rare occasions and a few bits at a time. I REALLY need to de-clutter and want to step up selling off unused and unwanted items.

Can I join in your quest please? Even £50 this side of Xmas would be good! Hmm
