I'm getting back into my eBaying, massive clear outs will keep me busy over this free listings weekend, wondered if anyone wanted to join me in making Christmas as cheap as possible and having the good people of eBay pay for most of it!

Yes, my two have their half term next week. I expect they will sleep it away! (Teens.)

I have a few bids on a couple of things, certainly more than I'd get at a boot sale.

SilveryMoon · 26/10/2012 17:49

What's the deal with amazon? Is that for new items only?

LineRunner · 26/10/2012 19:02

I know you can sell used books on Amazon.

SilveryMoon · 27/10/2012 09:10

Yeah, I just wondered about other stuff. It seems to be a better deal to sell on amazon

lljkk · 27/10/2012 10:32

If I try to sell on Amazon it assumes I'm an American seller & charges in Dollars & won't let me set domestic postage rates within UK. I have no idea why or how, I only ever sold one book on there & that was entirely in the UK. Confused
The deal for sellers is usually better than Ebay, but you have to price carefully. Postage limits are stricter, too.

LineRunner · 27/10/2012 10:46

I just had a look at selling on Amazon and can't fathom it. Is there an idiot's guide?

PurpleFrog · 27/10/2012 15:54

You can also trade-in certain books and console games on Amazon. Sometimes these are a really good deal, but the trade-in value changes from day-to-day.

I agree that working out your potential profit from selling an item on Amazon and comparing it to eBay is complicated. One problem with Amazon is that you have no idea what is selling. People may be charging ridiculous prices for something, but you don't know if they have sold any at that price.

Had a few good sales today another £15 and more importantly SPACE. Stupidly didn't properly check one of the phones we sold and it's now playing up, so have had to send a grovelly message to the buyer and am assuming the sale will be cancelled.

these weeks listings + relistings there's a few good stocking filler/blokey bits in there from DHs clearout.

TeWiDoesTheHulaInHawaii · 28/10/2012 20:36

It seems to be free listings as well although it doesn't say that anywhere... do we think it'll be flw all the way til christmas?

Bongaloo · 28/10/2012 20:49

Oh I'm lagging - Really got to get more on.
Might not be so easy while it's half term.

RachelHRD · 28/10/2012 20:58

Sold another 5 items making £35.60 and a running total of £188.40 so far so not too bad.

Tortoise · 28/10/2012 21:05

Tewi I've got 2 of those zenith cameras tosell for my dad. Listed twice before and didn't sell. Be interesting to see if they sell now.

TeWiDoesTheHulaInHawaii · 28/10/2012 21:37

Yes, I listed it last week and no sale. Have a slightly newer film SLR as well not sure how much of a market there is.

TeWiDoesTheHulaInHawaii · 29/10/2012 14:35

Hmm, somebody is asking if I would post to the ukraine, for/against?

My instinct says, no, I cba - but wondering if I am being unreasonable.

LineRunner · 29/10/2012 15:20

I wouldn't post to Ukraine unless I had specified that I would and had costed it.

dizzyday07 · 29/10/2012 17:11

Sold £20 of stuff on Ebay and a £60 bundle of DD's old clothes on Facebook!

MOSagain · 29/10/2012 17:29

ooh can I join. Just started listing on Saturday and am at £150 sold already (assuming one buyer pays up)

TeWi just read another thread on ebay and several people said they wouldn't post to 'eastern block' countries. Not sure why though.

ontheedgeofwhatever · 29/10/2012 21:29

Friday and the weekend were rubbish with stuff going at 99p or just a bit more.

Tonight's made up for it thought as I've sold about £30 worth of stuff :) £10 of it was an old monsoon coat of DDs that I origially got from ebay for about £10 so its held its value well

Total Profit after ebay, paypal and some under estimated p&pof £179.05 so over half way there.

I've got various things to list including a couple of dd's out grown mini boden dresses, a skirt of mine, an outgrown monsoon jacket of DD's, some game workshop miniatures and a few toys and books. Need to get to work tomorrow as nearly nothing left but a few relists

MOSagain · 30/10/2012 13:14

Do women's clothes tend to sell well? I've loads of brand new items and quite a few evening dresses I've only worn once.

A bit annoyed at something DH listed that sold this morning. Box set of dvds and for some reason it would only let us put a maximum of £2.25 for postage but it cost over £5 Sad oh well, lesson learnt!

TeWiDoesTheHulaInHawaii · 30/10/2012 14:55

I had that problem when I sold boxsets MOS - I used to work it out, then up the start price to cover the postage and explain that in my listing. Really irritating though.

I think with clothes branded stuff sells the best. I decided not to put my dresses on in the end.

HalleLouja · 30/10/2012 20:36

Lots of watchers on my items finishing tomorrow wish me luck. Would be happy with £20 but hoping for more.

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 30/10/2012 20:43

Lots of watchers for my items ending tomorrow too.

When will they bid though?!

HalleLouja · 30/10/2012 22:12

Will they bliming bid?

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 30/10/2012 22:14

They better had do!

SilveryMoon · 31/10/2012 02:47

I posted up a camera, not a very good one, for £1.99, current bid is £6.
Have got a bid on a child's coat I didn't think would go and a watcher on dinner jeans.
So far will def get £20. Before postage. Not bad for my first time and the crap I have.
