I'm getting back into my eBaying, massive clear outs will keep me busy over this free listings weekend, wondered if anyone wanted to join me in making Christmas as cheap as possible and having the good people of eBay pay for most of it!

SilveryMoon, I've just been reading and looking at the links - your listing has a spelling mistake in the title - you might miss the boys.

My current listings here

A couple of Joe Browns tops sold well recently and Jojo Maman Bebe - the difference it makes when you can put a brand in the title.
I am on maternity leave at the moment so it's not too bad finding time to iron, photograph, go to PO etc.

SilveryMoon · 22/10/2012 16:46

Has it bonga?
I listed most things from my phone. Bloody predictive t text

SilveryMoon · 22/10/2012 16:48

Thanks. Have just changed it.

HalleLouja · 22/10/2012 17:41

I already have some bids and watchers on my NNS leftovers. I am very sadly excited.

roosterroo · 22/10/2012 18:48

here are a few more www.ebay.co.uk/sch/lrud3454/m.html?item=261116221037&ssPageName=STRK%3AMESELX%3AIT&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2562 bit of a mixed bunch here.
Has anyone any idea when the next free listing is likely - my dad wants me to sell some freeview box things!

I've cleared £300,and am making about £25 a week via ebay at present, which is a good thing as my day job has been rubbish recently. Most of my stuff is under £5,so it has been hard work, but is worth my while at present.

ontheedgeofwhatever · 22/10/2012 21:49

Thanks for reminding me about the clocks. I've just listed a few items so they'll go between 8-9pm next week.

I did really badly on lots of my auctions at the weekend. They went for 99p or £1.04 - barely worth the trip to the post office once you've paid paypal and ebay. I had to send the maternity clothes in two parcels in the end or they'd have had to go first class because of the weight so I ended up with 10p change from the postage (still better than a loss though)

SilveryMoon · 23/10/2012 18:01

How much do you pay PayPal?
I've been watching some cricket dolls. Anyone remember cricket? I really wish I still had mine. She was taken away and put in the loft by my dad after I'd seen chucky at a very young age and started having nightmares. She's not there now. Dad says he doesn't remember what happened to her. :-(

lljkk · 23/10/2012 20:15

PAYPAL: (Fees are well hidden on individual transactions, what else do expect from tax-dodging Ebay empire?)

Out of each transaction Paypal charges a fixed fee of 20p + 3.4% of the whole amount transferred (so that's on the sale price + postage charge). You have to login to your Paypal account, find the transaction, and click on "details" to see your net intake after fees. Also, if you need to issue a refund, Paypal keeps the 20p (so generous of them).

Ebay also gets a final valuation fee (10% of the sale price on each item). They'll try to take that out of your Paypal balance.

My rule of thumb is to assume that Ebay gets 20% of the sale price, unless I try to be cunning about how I charge (not all that successfully).

ontheedgeofwhatever · 23/10/2012 23:06

I've done a spreadsheet which calculates ebay and paypal fees and your final profit. I think its accurate. If anyone wants it drop me a PM with an email address and I'll try sending it out. I like it because it shows your real total profit after fees rather than relying on the ebay page.

Very pleased as just had an item go for £23 which was quite unexpected :)

LineRunner · 23/10/2012 23:09

Things do seem to be picking up a little.

lljkk · 24/10/2012 09:19

Definitely things are picking up for my sales, too. Next 6 weeks should be good. Dire sales in Jan & Feb though.

HalleLouja · 24/10/2012 12:09

I have someone offering £15 BIN on something I didn't think would sell. Yes please. Do need to get it couriered though.

LineRunner · 24/10/2012 15:23

So do we spend Jan and Feb just photographing things and writing quirky descriptions?! Grin

ontheedgeofwhatever · 24/10/2012 17:49

the £23 item has not been paid for - hope its not going to turn into a problem.

None of my items are doing well tonight but still a couple of hours to go so hopefully they'll at least sell

notcitrus · 24/10/2012 18:42

A whole £3.98 last week. £1.99 unpaid - was just weighing to sort out EU postage when buyer said wanted to collect. Fine, except wanted to collect last night before going home, and didn't see messages until today. I think we can guess chances of payment...

Who was it upthread who had Chalet School books listed last week? Meant to watch and bid so PM me if they didn't sell.

PurpleFrog · 24/10/2012 22:24

I sold 5 things on Sunday. That works out as 4 fewer things to take to the NCT NNS this coming Saturday! I spent 1.5 hours helping dd sort out stuff in her bedroom this this evening - there is now lots of crap in the recycling but very little new in the "For Sale" pile - not quite what I had hoped for! Hmm I am trying to avoid the situation we had last year when dd had a major clearout 2 weeks AFTER the NCT Sale.

LineRunner - I think it depends what you intend to sell in Jan and Feb. I got good prices for Nintendo DS games this year - lots of people with new consoles and not much money to buy lots of new games, I think! I also did well a couple of years ago with Baby Born and Baby Annabell doll's clothes and accessories.

RachelHRD · 24/10/2012 22:27

Sold 11 items over the weekend - mostly my clothes and made over £100 :) sales are definitely picking up. That takes me to £152.80 so far and I relisted over 40 items so fingers crossed for next weekend :)

ontheedgeofwhatever · 25/10/2012 10:09

Phew the £23 has come through over night. Was getting very slightly edgy ad waiting for the "my daughter bid without my permission" message

LineRunner · 25/10/2012 10:21

Good point, Purple. We have console games all over the house...

SilveryMoon · 25/10/2012 12:31

I've got 2 watchers on one of my items
How exciting!

SilveryMoon · 26/10/2012 12:03

I got a bid on 1 item. Exciting times

lljkk · 26/10/2012 12:56

I've got only 2 bids on 71 items, and very few watchers otherwise. I expect next week will be a dip for sales, pick up after half term.

HalleLouja · 26/10/2012 13:01

I have about 5 bidders on 18 items. Some watchers on other items. So hopefully make about £20. We will see.

ontheedgeofwhatever · 26/10/2012 17:31

I'm not getting any bids at all and I've got 7 items ending tonight and think they'll all but one go for 99p so barely worth it once paypal and ebay have had their cut :(

Is it really half term next week? DD's is just ending - Confused
