I'm getting back into my eBaying, massive clear outs will keep me busy over this free listings weekend, wondered if anyone wanted to join me in making Christmas as cheap as possible and having the good people of eBay pay for most of it!

OP posts:
LineRunner · 14/10/2012 17:41

Oh! Some of my photos have disappeared off the listings!

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 14/10/2012 20:27

My 7 things will all end in the next 1/2 hour.

Come on buyers!

Tortoise · 14/10/2012 21:16

I got a few bits listed here.
Finding it so hard to maintain a normal account and my self employed business account. But have to take advantage of free listing weekends. Need to do some re-lists too.

Tortoise · 14/10/2012 21:18

Thats the re-lists done!

BabylonPI · 14/10/2012 21:26

I've listed a load of kids toys and dolls house type things today - 1 got a bid almost before I'd finished uploading it Confused Grin

A few bits ending in the next hour or so - some with bids, some without but all with watchersGrin

BabylonPI · 14/10/2012 21:27

Is there likely to be another flw before Xmas??

RachelHRD · 14/10/2012 21:32

I'm back too after some time away and a quite month or so of sales. Had a busy evening listing here so hoping things will pick up :)

Tortoise · 14/10/2012 21:43

Babylon I would expect another one in 2-3 weeks. Are you still using business account? It's a shame FLW can't be used on business account. Thats why i have 2 accounts running!

Bongaloo · 14/10/2012 21:48

I've had that before: bids or watchers almost immediately.

I've been looking at that box on the left on my 'selling' page to follow my total (£207 - Grin ) .... but of course it's the last 31 days so it's going down at the moment and I'm finding it hard to keep track.
Where can I look to easily see my total since starting last month?

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 14/10/2012 22:20

Oh we'll, all 7 things sold which is great.

I only made £21 though which is a bit disappointing. But as well as the money, I've gained the space so it works out ok!

Add it to the £32 that I made a few weeks ago and it still feels worth the time and effort.

notcitrus · 14/10/2012 23:04

Finally did a relisting and new listing spree - got the basic listings done but need to go back and insert descriptions on the new ones. Got a watcher on a book that no-one has been interested on the last two times...

So hoping to break £100 this week. And take a couple cubic metres worth of junk to the charity shops - lots of baby clothes that people won't buy on Ebay but might from the shop's 20p drawers, or at least give them money for textiles. My ILs are hoarders who just about keep their house under control by acquiring mountains of stuff 'for the grandchildren', so have removed a carload from them this w/e so need to process it all and get rid of 95%...

Tortoise · 14/10/2012 23:27

I'm having so much trouble from a seller, its really annoying me!
I was at fault, i let my Brother bid while i was out and he accidently bid on the wrong item! I emailed as soon as possible (3 hours before item ended) and requested they cancel my bid. No reply and we ended up winning the item (pick up only, miles away!)
So, i emailed again straight after it ended requesting they cancel transaction.
They won't do it and have no opened a non payment case against me! They only have 22 feedback but won't listen to me or Ebay live help who i spoke to earlier and emailed them a copy! I was advised to request again that they cancel the transaction as it was an error. Still they refuse despite me telling them they will still get all fees refunded! Angry
Ebay did say to contact again if any more problems so i guess thats what i will have to do! They said i won't get my account banned or a mark against it as it was a bid in error.

lljkk · 15/10/2012 08:09

Hope you sort it out, Tortoise. I must admit in that kind of situation I would offer them a few quid for the trouble & otherwise grovel.

I have about 120 items listed but don't expect more than 12 to sell.

fergoose · 15/10/2012 08:43

if the seller does the cancellation and the buyer agrees then they will get their fees back - there is no need to offer the seller a penny. Them opening an unpaid item case is just them ensuring you don't refuse the cancellation so they are sure to get the fees back.

I am confused as to why eBay say the strike won't count - I think it will count, but just one strike on your account won't make any difference.

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 15/10/2012 09:11

Wow lljkk. 120 listed is amazing! How do you get it all done? And also how do you keep motivated when only a few sell?

I have a load of snow suits to sell, but am keeping an eye on the market and they're not selling well at all so I'm struggling to motivate myself to get them listed!

TeWiDoesTheHulaInHawaii · 15/10/2012 10:02

Anyone else having trouble with photos - I spoke to the live help desk and it is an eBay issue, they suggested switching to a different browser which worked for me.

kekouan · 15/10/2012 17:15

Yay, the car seat is gone to someone who'll actually use it (rather than the weirdy car seat trader who bought it last time and then never bothered to collect!)

Here's the rest of my stuff anyway. Looks like it will do quite well

Only up to £91 so far. Not too bad but need to get going!

lljkk · 15/10/2012 17:22

Motivation: I'm probably an obsessive! I can't manage to get a real job so this is next best. I've just found the superlong decluttering thread, extra motivation.. As long as I keep relisting most things eventually sell, the main problem is managing listings so that I don't lose the ads into the ether if they got too old.

shugfish · 16/10/2012 11:09

Previously been lurking and learning about eBay tactics so thank you everyone. Have listed loads of maternity clothes over the last few weeks and have made £80 so far. Currently eying up the rest of my wardrobe to see what would make some more pennies for Christmas. Is it best to save summer clothes i.e cut off jeans and short sleeved tops until next year?

kekouan · 16/10/2012 19:41

I'd save sumer clothes until after Easter next year. They might sell now if people are off on holidays but you're more likely to get more money for them if you hold off.

I've found a load of Usborne first reading books that I've put on tonight on a 5 day listing hope that's worth it - lots of them don't seem to sell, which seems odd to me.

LineRunner · 16/10/2012 21:41

I have passed the test of keeping my nose clean for three months so can now list more console games. Everything seems to sell, even quite old DS Nintendo games, Wii, Xbox (thank you DS!) - and so easy to post as well.

DVDs are a dead loss.

MrsKwaHaHaHaAzii · 17/10/2012 08:47

You probably already know, but some DVDs and games can get a good price at CEX LineRunner you can check prices at uk.webuy.com/ and you can sell or trade them.

LineRunner · 17/10/2012 10:39

Yes, thanks, I think that the general consensus is that CEX is best for DVDs and CDs. We were going to take the games down, too, but I've been surprised at some of the little bidding wars that happen over them on ebay!

PurpleFrog · 19/10/2012 13:05

Free Listing again this coming weekend!

I have 15 items ending on Sunday - 6 have watchers so far. Only 4 things are "new", the rest are re-lists, some from the beginning of the year as I thought they might sell better on the run-up to Christmas.

At present I am trying to concentrate on sorting stuff out for an NCT NNS next Saturday, so this FLW is bad timing - next weekend would have been much better! I can't decide whether to put some kid's stuff on for 3 or 5 day auctions or just forget about it for the moment. In fact, I can't decide whether to just take all remaining child-related stuff to the NCT Sale in the interests of de-cluttering, instead of keeping the best stuff back for eBay.

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 19/10/2012 14:49

Thanks for that.

Now I know what I'll be doing tonight!
