I'm getting back into my eBaying, massive clear outs will keep me busy over this free listings weekend, wondered if anyone wanted to join me in making Christmas as cheap as possible and having the good people of eBay pay for most of it!

Well done hiccup! I remember the ma.sion from last year...

McPhee · 12/09/2012 09:22

I went in to my selling page via the free listings link. I wonder if that could be why?

Been selling on ebay since 2006 and never had a limit before Hmm

Bongaloo · 12/09/2012 10:44

Really must do some ironing and photographing today, get more on.

Just about £20 so far - pleased with myself though as I'd normally have just given it to school jumble sale or something. I'm really glad I caught this thread and got into the selling.
I have a couple of things running out tonight with 11 watchers and a bid.

I have got at least one larger item that'll boost my total - but it's the cleaning up of it. I hope I get it together.

CagneyNLacey · 12/09/2012 14:31

I sold quite well the week before last. I'm selling the same sort of stuff this week and only sold one item Confused

LineRunner · 12/09/2012 21:46

I have managed to sell and save up £400 since June!

So pleased, it's helping me be able to look forward to Christmas. And start to tackle my hoarding problem tbh.

MrsKwazii · 12/09/2012 23:24

Hurrah, am halfway already with £150 made Grin. Got a few more toy bits listed to end this weekend, hoping to edge over the £200 mark.

Packing and posting is a PITA though. The local Hermes courier is my new BFF.

lljkk · 13/09/2012 09:45

35 hours to go until auctions end, 60 watchers on the 2 bikes, but still no bids.

Handful of other items with many watchers, but no interest in about 30 listings.

In theory I could have like 80 listings next FLW Shock. If I can find time to list them all.

lljkk · 13/09/2012 20:06

65 watchers on the 2 bikes, & finally, one bid.

Up to 12 watchers on a few other items. 31 items with no watchers or bids.

I'm having a fairly crud week, btw, pity for all the poor watchers who think they might have spotted a bargain only they will be canny enough to snap up, is the only thing cheering me up. I think it's Kinda evil that Ebay doesn't tell you how many other watchers there are on something.

LineRunner · 13/09/2012 20:13

God, my listings are dead.

Good point about watchers, llijkk.

CagneyNLacey · 13/09/2012 20:19

Does anyone know when the next free listings weekend may be?

BlueberryHill · 13/09/2012 20:52

Couple of watchers and bids on two items, at about £3, super. I'm starting to think FLW are a bit of a con, they still charge for extra photos and stuff but just zero out the price I think? I just sell low value stuff so I think I'll avoid these in future, it seems really dead.

MrsKwazii · 13/09/2012 21:14

I have watchers on all of the items I've listed at the moment, mainly 2 or 3, expect for one listing that has 28 people having a butchers. That's the most I've ever racked up. If it goes over 30 I may pop with excitement - lljkk I'd be totally beside myself with your number of watchers!

lljkk · 14/09/2012 07:52

69 bike watchers this morning, still only one bid.

We were bidding ourselves on a bike recently, which jumped £240+ in price in the last 10 seconds.
Only 5 of my other items are even sure to sell.

Bongaloo · 14/09/2012 12:28

I met a man in the post office yesterday who is just about to go abroad for the first time and he's paid for it by selling bits on ebay.

LineRunner · 14/09/2012 13:59

I am now on quite friendly terms with my post office staff! They love ebay because it keeps the post office really busy and thriving even on a Sunday, so their jobs are more secure.

They are very helpful about about trying to keep things to a £1.10 large letter charge, rather than a £2.20 packet charge. Apparently clingflim is good for keeping items of clothing flat! Not sure about the buyers' perceptions of that, though - although if they were aware they got cheaper P&P as a result might be ok.

HiccupHaddockHorrendous · 14/09/2012 18:12

I've scheduled 5 items for tonight. I've also put them on Gumtree and FB - hopefully they'll attract more interest than the last lot Grin.

Only got the ABC buggy listed at the moment. Trying to decide whether to list and pay to have a higher start price, list at 99p and risk selling for 99p or wait until FL for a couple of other items.

BlueberryHill · 14/09/2012 18:36

Linerunner, do you wrap the clothes in cling film before putting it in the envelop, does that stop them bunching up?

HiccupHaddockHorrendous · 14/09/2012 21:38

Woohoo! My items have only been on 10 minutes and I've already got a bid!!

HiccupHaddockHorrendous · 14/09/2012 21:40

Also, meant to add, I've just organised postage through the drop box on the selling page and it's so easy Grin. I usually send everything through the post office or through a courier company that I've used for years. I didn't realise you could book collect+ directly...learn something new everyday Grin

LineRunner · 14/09/2012 23:42

Blueberry, apparently you wrap the clothing item (eg a shirt) directly in clingfilm to keep it flat and keep the air out, so it fits through the large letter slot.

I'm a bit wary of how that might look to a buyer.

MrsKwazii · 15/09/2012 08:52

Re: the clingfilm, for small bits you could also try comic bags. You can get self sealing ones and can also buy acid-free backing boards that fit them perfectly. Would look professional. Best to get silver age bags as they're bigger, and modern age comic boards. 100 bags and boards are £15

MrsKwazii · 15/09/2012 08:53

So 15p per item to pack. Probably best for children's clothes though. Tbh

dizzyday07 · 15/09/2012 09:56

I made @£200 just before our house move - but thiswas mostly from selling some Ikea storage units! Had a real declutter and only kept what hopefully will sell!

BlueberryHill · 15/09/2012 10:07

Thanks all, I need to have a look at how I can pack items better, using Jiffy bags which are safe but bulky and up the postage costs. Bags and boards sound like a great idea. I sell mainly childrens clothes so anything that keeps the relative cost of postage down is great.

Sold a couple of items for a grand total of £5, but at least its £5 and I'm creating space. Or at least that is what I keep telling myself.

LineRunner · 15/09/2012 10:45

I agree Blueberry - the de-cluttering and making space are worthwhile even if the financial rewards aren't that great!
