Post your listings and questions here. The purpose is to raise money for Christmas and I'll start by showing my (so far) meagre listings here

This week's listings from me!

LaWeasel · 07/09/2011 13:29

Well shit.

The person who bought our Wii off us is claiming it doesn't work. It definately 100% does. What do we do?

fergoose · 07/09/2011 14:00

Did you send it fully insured with a courier - has the buyer kept the packaging?

You will have to tell the buyer to return it for a full refund. You should also pay return postage costs on top of their original full payment. Tell them once it is received back, and you have checked serial number/your security markings(to ensure they do send yours back) tell them you will refund.

If the packaging is damaged/dented, get the buyer to return that too - and you may be able to claim off your courier for damage in transit.

LaWeasel · 07/09/2011 14:07

Yes, we sent it by insured courier so if was them that damaged it I suppose we can get the money back from them.

But I am pissed off and bloody suspicious as buyer has demanded either a new wii or a refund, or they'll give us negative feedback and report us to ebay. We haven't done anything wrong!

Other worrying part is that we can't find the serial number for the wii, to check it if we go for a return. DH is trying to get it off nintendo. Feel like an idiot.

fergoose · 07/09/2011 14:10

Well the buyer could be genuine, or they could return their own faulty console and keep yours.

If they are threatening neg feedback report their email for feedback extortion

If they open a case with ebay they will need to return it at their expense before you refund.

Make sure you mention your security markings/serial number in your response - if they are trying to palm you off with a different unit this may deter them.

LaWeasel · 07/09/2011 14:56

I hope they're genuine. Or can't follow instructions. And we'll get it back and there's nothing wrong.

Nintendo sound positive so we're sitting on our hands waiting for them to get back to us before we decide what to do. I also spoke to the ebay helpline and they said we don't have to accept returns if we don't want to, but that would leave us telling the buyer to open a formal dispute and ebay mediating a pretty he said/she said case. So best option would be to get it returned really.

fergoose · 07/09/2011 15:28

yes and a buyer will always win a not as described case and get a refund (well 99% of the time).

I hope you report them for feedback extortion

pages.ebay.co.uk/help/sell/report_problem.html

what does the buyer say the problem is anyway - could they have it set up wrong I wonder?

LaWeasel · 07/09/2011 15:31

they claim both that it won't turn on and that it won't read discs Hmm (They'd have to have been able to turn it on to find out it won't read discs!)

I think our first step will be to remind them we sent them the instruction manual and link them to nintendo's trouble shooting page, while we buy a bit of time and keep looking for the codes.

fergoose · 07/09/2011 15:33

I agree very odd problem - did you ask them how they know it won't read discs if they can't turn it on then?

LaWeasel · 07/09/2011 15:38

I haven't replied yet. DH wants to make sure we know everything about our position before we decide what to do.

They haven't quite broken the rules for feedback extortion, but we'll see what they say when we suggest they return it.

fergoose · 07/09/2011 15:47

let us know what they say in response - just be polite and businesslike. 'am so sorry you can't get it working, very confusing as it was checked before posting' etc, and don't forget to mention you will check serial no and your own security marks etc. They don't know you didn't UV mark it or whether you have the serial number or not do they. And also say please send back securely packaged in the condition in which it was sent with all leads, manuals etc. in order for a refund to be processed.

LaWeasel · 07/09/2011 15:49

Okay, thanks for the advice, fergoose.

bilblio · 07/09/2011 17:52

I've dealt with lots of customer complaints, not through ebay, but through my job. Always be very polite and professional, even if the other person isn't. It will give you the upper hand if they take any dispute to ebay. Think about what type of email you'd like to receive.
Be careful about apologising in case they take that as you admitting you knew it didn't work. Apologise that it doesn't work for them but stress that it did when you sent it.

Excellent point about serial numbers fergoose. I'm selling some electrical items too so I'll make sure I note the serial numbers down now.

LaWeasel · 07/09/2011 19:51

Is it okay to say we will pay for return postage but only after we have got it back?

fergoose · 07/09/2011 19:56

yes of course - is the buyer returning it then?

DecapitatedLegoman · 07/09/2011 19:58

I can't really offer much advice LaWeasel but sympathy yes, it sounds really crap, poor you :( Good tips about serial numbers and not apologising though.

LaWeasel · 07/09/2011 20:06

Not sure yet. Waiting for a response, they are definately angling for us to refund it right this second, which of course we are not going to do, we need to know what has happened. But they have clarified what is wrong with it and it does sound like there may be a genuine problem and it might have been knocked about it transit.

Very annoying for both of us in which case.

fergoose · 07/09/2011 20:16

well they must think you are daft if they expect a refund without returning the item.

queenmaeve · 07/09/2011 20:55

Blush it might have helped to actually lost my lsitings! listings

mogs0 · 07/09/2011 21:29

I have finally uploaded a photo and revised the details of my one lonely listing!!

I will get more done next week or maybe over the weekend if I can get the house tidy first.

Tortoise · 07/09/2011 21:35

Not much interest in my items so far.
Am at my selling limit so won't be able to.list anymore until ended then I think I can.

Honeydragon · 08/09/2011 07:48

What is the selling limit? I have no idea Blush

Tortoise · 08/09/2011 12:00

Honeydragon I have restriction on my account because of some low detailed seller ratings. It has been like it for months. Just can't seem to get better scores despite doing everything right!

LaWeasel · 08/09/2011 12:38

Well our return seems to be going fine for now, I think hopefully there is nothing dodgy going on, they were just pissed off, thinking we'd screwed them over with their first few emails. We'll see what turns up!

GiraffesHaveMoreFun · 08/09/2011 12:54

Hello
Can I join? Going to sell some clothes to get a winter coat and boots too, if it all goes well Hmm. Listings to follow - need to take photos and write descriptions while DD naps...
