Raise £350 for Christmas - the new eBay challenge

Post your listings and questions here. The purpose is to raise money for Christmas and I'll start by showing my (so far) meagre listings here

Sounds like a good idea to me.

Everyone has paid from the first lot of listings and there are only 2 parcels left all wrapped up and ready to go on monday - DH is annoying me by insisting on keeping loads of boxsets he never ever watched and would probably go for another 40-50 quid.

Will do the car seat cover tonight, it washed pretty well and they seem to go for a good £20+! So wasn't a bad idea to save it from the tip apparently.

Redumbdancy · 04/09/2011 12:33

My listings end tonight and are doing OK, all have a bid on.

Trying to find more stuff to sell tonight!

fergoose · 04/09/2011 12:45

if you do that you must refund the paypal payment in full then get the buyer to pay in cash

if you accept paypal they can pretend not to receive the item then claim their money back as you have no online proof of delivery

fergoose · 04/09/2011 12:46

sorry - the above message is for bilblio about the perfume :)

bilblio · 04/09/2011 14:22

Ooh Right, thanks Fergoose, I didn't know that. I haven't got around to contacting the buyer yet, must do that now. I'm busy photographing and listing more items... in theory. I keep finding distractions, like sewing labels on DD's school clothes and putting washing on the line.

I like the money, but loath the listing! :o

Half of what I pulled out to list has instead gone in a bag to take to the charity shop. Some shoes and some "vintage" 1960's handbags which look a bit too dusty for me to be bothered with.

fergoose · 04/09/2011 15:03

get your listings to end in the evening to attract more buyers :)

DecapitatedLegoman · 04/09/2011 22:02

Phew, listed some more crap items tonight and sold another couple of things. It was great to transfer £100 from my PayPal account earlier, even though a big chunk of that goes on postage and selling fees. Straight to the Christmas savings fund :). I am so chuffed that I've kept this up, thank you so much Dino for this thread :)

Honeydragon · 04/09/2011 22:53

Is it too late to join in? I've taken advantage of the free listings for some bits I don't want to risk at 99 pence and am not sure will go well. But am planning a big clear out as I need funds badly.

mogs0 · 04/09/2011 23:09

My day seems to have flown by without me going anywhere near eBay. I've just put a very basic listing up to try and sell my double mountain buggy and will revise and add photos tomorrow when ds goes to school.

Redumbdancy · 05/09/2011 12:32

Made about £100 last night, all but 2 people have paid, so got the majority of the parcels to the post office this morning.

When is everyone starting listing winter clothes? I've got some knee length boots, baby snow suits and halloween costumes to list, wondering whether I'm too eager?

Honeydragon · 05/09/2011 13:27

I listed two pairs of boots last night and they already have watchers, if that helps?

LaWeasel · 05/09/2011 13:36

I think a lot of people like to buy their winter stuff early to be prepared... not sure how that works in terms of sales though.

pissedrightoff · 05/09/2011 18:17

I have a couple of fred perry items from the Amy Winehouse collection and a couple of mens jackets, Do you think they would be worth selling on ebay?

I've certainly bought plenty but never sold anything, Is it easy enough to do?

LaWeasel · 05/09/2011 18:41

I've just done my first lot (posted the last parcel today) and it was a lot easier than I expected, there's great advice if you want to go back through the thread. But basically work out how much things will cost to post in advance so you don't short sell yourself and write as accurate descriptions as possible.

I'd use the 'quick-sell' listing style, it's a nice logical layout. If you make a mistake you can go back and revise listings too (but not with the prices if someone has already bid!)

pissedrightoff · 05/09/2011 18:53

Thanks LaWeasel.

Will trawl through the house at the weekend and see what I can find to sell.

DecapitatedLegoman · 05/09/2011 19:45

Redumbancy I sold some knee length boots this week and 20% of views then watched them, so there are people looking for that sort of thing now.

Also I'm trying to buy a coat for DS and bidding is fast on them so prices are good.

Honeydragon · 05/09/2011 21:28

Gah! I've just had my first neutral Sad, and crappy comment. And it's my on fault for selling to someone with low bloody feedback who has never purchased anything from a private seller or used Sad

She said the item wasn't clean, I can assure you it was, I've had nice emails about the condition of stuff I've sold. Then she stated that I said it had been cleaned in the listing. I had not stated that it had been cleaned in the listing (even though it had). I described it as in good used condition, and it was.

I am peed of as she waited ages to leave feedback so its right at the top , now other bidders might be put off.

Tortoise · 05/09/2011 21:51

Oh dear honeydragon.
you can reply to the feedback.
Do you still have 100% feedback? I only ever check feedback if below 100% and 1 neutral wouldn't put me off.

LaWeasel · 05/09/2011 21:52

How frustrating. Can you dispute the feedback? (don't know how it works)

Honeydragon · 05/09/2011 22:13

I'm still 100%, and tbh I always think it looks a bit tit for tat when the seller comments.

The buyer never contacted me at all or I'd have told her to return it and refunded her. I honestly think it was a case of someone not "getting" eBay.

Honeydragon · 06/09/2011 00:06

Things may not be all bad, just got my first bid on one of my items with 9 days to go so fx

Tortoise · 06/09/2011 16:11

Got some bits scheduled for later and will edit before due to start. Couple bits still to do to start tonight.

queenmaeve · 06/09/2011 19:05

I'd love to join in. I havn't sold in months on ebay. But thought I should try and shift stuff before bad weather starts to effect postage and to get few pound up for xmas.

Tortoise · 06/09/2011 20:25

My listings. Some new, some re-lists. Hope they sell!

Honeydragon · 06/09/2011 20:57

forgot to do mine Blush
