Post your listings and questions here. The purpose is to raise money for Christmas and I'll start by showing my (so far) meagre listings here

I wasnt charged when relisting during free listing weekend.

"During the promotional period, if sellers re-list an eligible item that had previously closed without a successful sale, the re-listed item will qualify for the promotion."

I got some photos taken this morning while it was sunny but now dh and dd have gone off up a hill with my camera Hmm

I have scheduled them so I can go back in and start them on Sunday evening. Free listing is an added bonus.

I have also changed the prices on my Wii games as no one was biting. They were on a 30 day BIN and had been on for 10 days with not one selling. I will try the new price and see if anyone is keen.

I haven't got anything finishing until Sunday and everything I sold the other night is posted as everyone paid up quickly.

nocitrus I am terrified of the unhappy buyer. I have been honest in my listings but some people are just mad as a box of frogs and don't see it.

I have listed some tracksuit bottoms that are well worn and have said so in the listing and tried to show it in a photo but I am still scared that, if they sell, someone will go nuts at me.

Postage bags definitely make parcels lighter and easier to pack than brown paper or jiffy bags.

Has anyone done an analysis of what they charge for postage and what it actually costs them. I was considering getting dh to do a spreadsheet for me. [saddo emoticon]

I charge a little extra for the packaging materials eg £1.95 for a £1.72 postage and £2.50 for a £2.16 postage to cover the cost of the bag, tape, bubble wrap when needed etc. Otherwise with cheap items you feel like you are giving them away.

Mousey84 · 14/10/2011 17:02

Dino, I need some of your incredible enthusiasm. I feel a cold or maybe flu coming on (mindee off sick today - hope to goodness I didnt get what he had!) but the free listing weekend is appealing...if I can peel myself off sofa

pud1 · 14/10/2011 17:54

Most of mineareending tonight and I am doing well. Just and someone asking for my adress to send a cheque before they Hve won the item which I find a little strange. Have told them that I would accept a cheque but will only give out my details if they win

MustControlFistOfDeath · 14/10/2011 18:05

Carrots I keep a spreadsheet showing sale price plus postage charged less ebay/paypal/postage fees so that I know how much net I've made per item.

Blush
Carrotsandcelery · 14/10/2011 18:08

MustControl don't Blush that is exactly what I want to do. I don't have the skills but dh does so I will have to bully bribe him somehow Hmm

CristinaaarghdellAaarghPizza · 14/10/2011 18:09

Ooh one of the kid's coats I'm selling is up to £19 Shock I think I got it in the sale and didn't pay much more than that new Blush

Blimey.

I have had very bad experiences with ebay before so I'm hoping this lot will restore my confidence

HalleLouja · 14/10/2011 18:38

I think I might have to screw everything down as the urge to sell all my belongings is too much Grin!

I have a nice coat for DS from Adam's that I might sell. Need to find that Joules jumper and put it on.

pud1 · 14/10/2011 19:34

Made £108 not counting p and p. Got loads more to list but my bloody camera has broken

Seabright · 14/10/2011 20:58

I'm up to £228.55 on ebay, plus about £100 from other sources. Best of all, my feedback is 999; one more positive and my little star will change colour!

dizzyday07 · 14/10/2011 21:23

Carrots - Amazon is selling Up for £11.77 with free postage.

With regard to postage prices - I tend to charge @ the 1st class price and send 2nd class (listing say will be sent 2nd) so the difference covers the packaging etc.

Must - I have a spreadsheet exactly the same! Blush

Carrotsandcelery · 14/10/2011 22:00

Well, changing the prices has worked for UP as it sold tonight. Finally! I have now listed Fifa 10 so we will see how that goes. I must check Amazon though and check that they are not underselling me. Wink Thanks for the tip dizzy

Tortoise · 14/10/2011 22:06

Good to see its free listing again this weekend. I have 2 huge bags of DD2s outgrown clothes to list. Think I will put in bundles. Do I do mixed bundles or, for example, dress bundle or tops bundle etc?

Carrotsandcelery · 14/10/2011 22:13

Tortoise I have no experience of this as I sell items individually but the "rubbish at ebay" thread suggests selling outfits that go together or groups of clothes that would create a capsule wardrobe. eg dress, tights and cardigan or jeans, top and hoody etc.

dizzyday07 · 14/10/2011 22:15

Tortoise - they are not age 7-8yrs are they?)

I prefer bundles of same type things - but that is because DD is awkward to buy for (tall but skinny) so mixed bundles tend to contain things she can't wear. But I can see the convenience of buying a mix of items

Tortoise · 14/10/2011 22:36

Dizzy There might be some 7-8 amongst them. Some were DD1s that DD2 doesn't.like or fit in (she's skinner than DD1!).
Mostly 6-7 I think.
I will have to sort through them.

DinosaursHateUnderpants · 15/10/2011 11:23

Well done Seabright!

I've added just a few new things this week HERE. I'm planning on taking photos of the 2 bags of stuff we have left tomorrow and then tackling the unused/unwanted toys that the boys have.

OP posts:
JarethTheGoblinKing · 15/10/2011 13:14

Few items ending tomorrow here

Seem to be going OK, but hardly any of them have any watches. Don't really understand why the brand new Next Jeans have no bids, and the VGC ones have £8+ already. Ebay baffles me sometimes!

Have just realised that I barely have enough mail bags to send out what I've listed though, so have ordered them to arrive on Tuesday so should be fine. :)

mogs0 · 15/10/2011 13:43

Is the 'signed for' fee included in the price shown on the postage sticker on a parcel/packet/letter?

I received a parcel today, the stamp sticker says £3.3?. I'm wondering whether that includes the 'signed for' bit or whether the person posting it paid that on top.

Tortoise · 15/10/2011 13:48

Mogs I'm not sure, I think its the whole price paid. You could weigh it and look price up online.

DinosaursHateUnderpants · 15/10/2011 15:04

Mogs - the price you can see is the entire price paid for postage.

OP posts:
mogs0 · 15/10/2011 15:33

Thanks, both! I was too lazy to go and weigh the item Blush and hoped someone would know the answer Grin.

In that case, I've paid £2.6? more than it actually cost. That's twice in as many weeks.

mogs0 · 15/10/2011 15:39

It has taken me bloomin ages to list just one item Hmm.

I love ebaying - both buying and selling but I find listing the stuff so tediously boring.

There is so much waiting to go on and I put it off and put it off and now my house is so full of things waiting to be listed that it's crazy.

Ds' old bedroom/my new bedroom is having a new carpet fitted on Tuesday so my plan of turning it into a temporary ebay room has been scrapped.

Also, my landlady (who is also my Aunt) has now said she won't pay for carpet for both bedrooms so my ebay winnings will now be going towards ds' new bedroom carpet - grr!

Carrotsandcelery · 15/10/2011 16:36

I have had the same Jareth - it is utterly bizarre. I have some new Next jeans to list and now I am wary as they don't seem to be highly sought after. I am wondering if I don't mention they are new in the listings if they would sell better now. [mad emoticon]

Carrotsandcelery · 15/10/2011 17:03

Can I ask some advice yet again please?

I have several Monsoon boy's shirts to sell and I can't decide whether to put them all on tomorrow since it is a free listing weekend or whether to put them on one at a time so they don't compete against each other (they are the same size). I think I should probably put them on one at a time but wondered what everyone else would advise?
