Post your listings and questions here. The purpose is to raise money for Christmas and I'll start by showing my (so far) meagre listings here

Argh. I've just seen something ridiculously exciting on ebay that threatens to wipe out all my profits so far. erk.

salempickles · 06/10/2011 15:31

tortoise Hope you dont mind me asking but as i posted a thread earlier i was told by dinosaurs your the expert in the know about restricted listings for non seller performance things, how long did you have to wait to be able to sell again, in the email i was sent it doesn't give an indication of how long this will before and with xmas coming up am a bit desperate to sell some stuff an make some money, thanks

Tortoise · 06/10/2011 16:57

Salempickles It took about 6mths to get my account back to normal. It was because of low dsr star ratings. I got disheartened and barely listed anything which I think is why it took so long.
You should have a selling limit, which should be a certain amount of items or upto a certain value.

I suggest listing to this limit when it let's you and doing everything possible to keep buyers happy.
Good luck.

Someone has just asked if they bought my P&T on BIN, would I meet them at the train station with it as they don't have a car.

I will be going near the place where they live in the next week or so so could deliver it to them.

Is there any reason why I should do either of these things?

dyzzidi · 06/10/2011 18:28

Hello!

I'm hoping i can join you ladise I am trying to raise £250 by Christmas. I have already listed about 22 items on the past week. I am trying to set myself a deadline of Christmas as to behonest I am one of those really sad people who buy next years Christmas gifts in the sales so am already done for most people for this year.

I have lots of cheap items like table confetti but also some brand new with tags stuff. I currently have three bin bags I am tryingto get throught to put things up for sale.

wish me luck!

fergoose · 06/10/2011 18:35

Mogs as long as you only accept cash and not paypal then you are fine delivering the item to them.

Carrotsandcelery · 06/10/2011 18:41

Good luck dyzzidi Smile

Tortoise · 06/10/2011 18:47

I have been the person asking seller if they would meet me at train station cos I don't drive. It's always a great relief if they will do it. Plus you get an item sell if you do. You could ask for petrol contribution if it isn't local.

CristinadellaPizza · 06/10/2011 18:54

Right after a day of painful photography and even more painful descriptions, I am ready to join you.

I did the delayed listing tip (whoever suggested that Thanks) and so I will start getting things going around 8pm on a 10 day listing. Wish me luck! I have to say the idea of getting £350 seems as likely as pigs flying - if I make £50 I will be surprised - but it's a start. :)

Question for you expert people: does anyone on ebay buy good quality clothes that are a bit stained? I've rejected loads of stuff on the basis that no one is going to want to pay for mini boden shorts with lily pollen on them but maybe they will?

lljkk · 06/10/2011 19:30

Gosh, I've only added a paltry 11 quid to my total (as of last night).
Still, at least I've made my own personal 35 quid target.
Let's see if I can double it before Xmas? Grin

Carrotsandcelery · 06/10/2011 19:44

Cristi people do buy stained clothes. Just explain that clearly in your description and if you can, add a photo of the problem area. You won't get as much but you will be surprised - I was Shock

Tortoise · 06/10/2011 20:01

The adults rain coat I have listed has some stains. I've taken photos of the stains and explained them in the listing. Don't know if it will sell or not.

I've got one of the newer type Furby to sell but the dog chewed off the toes of one foot. Can't decide whether to list or chuck!

CristinadellaPizza · 06/10/2011 21:26

Ooh blimey, I've just made all my items active and I've got one bid already! Shock

This is quite exciting! :o

Here's my stuff if any of you are interested

CristinadellaPizza · 06/10/2011 21:27

And thanks for the stains tips - I left out a bunch of stuff today because it wasn't 100% perfect but may as well try and sell it. In the past I've become v despondent about not having any bids but that is a bit silly. I must try not to take things too personally

Seabright · 06/10/2011 22:25

Two more things sold - Am up to £155.59! Haven't managed to get anything new listed this week though, so am disappointed with myself on that front.

This is what I'm selling

acsec · 06/10/2011 22:49

dyzzidi can you link to your items? I'd like to look at your table confetti.

dizzyday07 · 07/10/2011 10:27

Can anyone link me to where they get their postage bags from?

mygirllollipop · 07/10/2011 10:38

Well, I've made £60, would be £68 but had to open a case against a non-payer from last Wednesday. That was just the clothes, will re-list the rest. Have books, electronics and toys to go on eBay but waiting 'til right before xmas if my nerve holds.

MustControlFistOfDeath · 07/10/2011 10:53

dizzy this is where I got mine from

Carrotsandcelery · 07/10/2011 11:57

FistOfDeath I think I bought my bags from the same place. I just hunted on ebay for the best deal.

I have spent a while this morning listing more items but have used the scheduling trick so I can start them on Sunday evening as I don't imagine this is the best moment.

I have listed lots of books - infact I have relisted them, as they are not shifting at all. Any tips out there for selling books on ebay?

I think that is me at the end of the dcs outgrown clothes for now although who knows what will emerge as they wear more casual stuff over the holidays.

I have bags and bags of adult clothes I could sell. Do adult clothes sell well?

Seabright · 07/10/2011 12:04

CarrotsandCelery My sister often sells adults clothes, always seems to sell well. She starts it quite low, 99p or £2.50

Carrotsandcelery · 07/10/2011 12:06

Thanks Seabright. I don't have any designer stuff but probably have a few Monsoon tops that might sell. I will have to have a rummage, wash and iron but I might leave that until after the dcs holidays (start today).

I will need to buy bigger postage bags though Grin

MustControlFistOfDeath · 07/10/2011 13:37

carrots I've sold loads of adult clothes, Monsoon should sell quite well but even Tu/George/F+F stuff sells. I try to avoid listing at 99p unless absolutely necessary - I did when I first started selling but sold quite a few nice clothes at 99p and didn't really make anything. Now I just wait for the free listing weekends (which are quite often) to avoid paying any listing fees.

Carrotsandcelery · 07/10/2011 13:43

That sounds like good advice MCFOD (I can't bring myself to call you fist or death). I am beginning to realise that I should photograph everything and get my forms filled out and put them all on scheduled listings using Dino's trick and then wait for free listings to put them on. That way they are done when I have the time and can be listed when the cost is low.

mogs0 · 07/10/2011 14:22

I'd forgotten how frustrating 10day listings are - it feels like they've been on for 2 weeks already and they've still got 4/5 days to go! I've got quite a lot of watchers and a couple of bids so far and am keeping my fingers crossed that the P&T sells well.

Ds' bed and furniture are being collected this afternoon. I was up until midnight last night dismantling it.

I am getting a bit buried under the amount of stuff waiting to be listed but there always seems to something more important to do in the evenings.

As ds is currently bedless, he's bunking down in my room so maybe I should temporarily use his room to store all the eBay stuff and work my way through it and just put off ordering his new bed until I've got it a bit more under control.

I made the mistake of opening one of my floor to ceiling cupboards on Wednesday and it's packed full of last years eBay stash - I sold loads of other things but ran out of time so it's been stuffed in there for ages! I need an eBay fairy to help me wade through it all!
