Post your listings and questions here. The purpose is to raise money for Christmas and I'll start by showing my (so far) meagre listings here

Not ebay, but I sold some old LP's & singles today at the secondhand record shop in Guildford. nothing special, but he has a "I'll buy anything" policy, so that's an extra £5 & some space freed up.

Off to do some more listing!

DecapitatedLegoman · 29/09/2011 19:31

Hi Gossip. You've had good advice, I too use my local Post Office rather than printing labels via eBay because they need the business - and printed labels don't save me having to trek up there with parcels Grin

I've got a few items with lots of watchers, hopefully that will lead to an all-out bidding frenzy . And they'd better all pay up because I forgot I'm going away next Friday!

Carrotsandcelery · 29/09/2011 19:40

I was away last weekend and I am away again tomorrow Legoman - I did need to plan my finish times around it.

Fingers crossed your watchers go mad in a bidding war!

GossipWitch · 29/09/2011 19:44

Hey carrots I've made a list of the things I want to try and sell, or are in good nick to sell, and I have to say its pretty impressive. I will get back to you when I get on the case, have a free afternoon and whole weekend to go.

How would I weigh stuff? the only thing I have for weighing things is a little kitchen scales thing, no bathroom scales or I will obsess and end up with an eating disorder.
Will the post office do that for me too?

DecapitatedLegoman · 29/09/2011 19:56

They might, Gossip, but you'd need to weigh them before listing your items on eBay so you can price the postage accurately. I get by with my kitchen scales and they are really small and basic. For large lumpy items like clothes I just put a tray on top of them then zero them before weighing.

Forgot to leave a link to my items doh!

Carrotsandcelery · 29/09/2011 20:03

I do the same as Lego Gossip. I put a plastic plate on the scales, zero it, and then put the clothes on the plate. Then add a bit to take into account the packaging.

I would suggest just putting one thing on a day until you get the hang of it. I have got more on now but I worked up to it over a couple of weeks.

I am fearful of having too much to package and post at once and getting in a guddle with it.

Millie1 · 29/09/2011 20:11

Everyone is doing so well. I'm going to get listing again tomorrow - found a couple of new ornaments, remembered some Wilton cake tins, one of which I paid around £20 for on eBay a few years back and am cleaning the highchairs ready to go.

One of my buyers has emailed asking whether I would accept a return on a Gap girl's jacket. I have no problem but can someone tell me how to refund her and show it as a return on eBay, if I need to do that, please. Also, I'm assuming that I don't refund her the postage costs as if I did I would be out money?

Thanks

fergoose · 29/09/2011 20:15

You refund via the original paypal payment, log into paypal, find the payment and click on it, then click refund. You need credit in your paypal account to do this though.

You would have to refund all of their payment, and if item not as described you should refund their return post costs too. This extra amount would need to be sent as a paypal payment or maybe a cheque as you can't refund more than the buyer paid you.

Tortoise · 29/09/2011 20:15

Millie make sure you don't refund until you have the item and tell them to send signed for.
Depends on the reason for returning whether you should pay return cost or not.

Seabright · 29/09/2011 20:16

More done! Am trying to do three items per day, that way I don't feel overwhelmed with either doing the listings or doing the packing. Here's my lot so far

Millie1 · 29/09/2011 20:23

Thanks Fergoose and Tortoise. They want to return it as it is too neat a fit so I guess that means I don't pay the return costs - the correct size was on the listing? Good advice about signed for, I'll definitely ask her to do that.

Tortoise · 29/09/2011 21:30

I wouldnt accept returns for not fitting. That's the risk you take with Ebay. Bought DD1 some trousers last week. They have a tiny waist and she can't fit in them but I will just re-list them. Wouldn't dream of asking seller to have them back.

fergoose · 29/09/2011 22:02

trouble is if you refuse a return the buyer will go to eBay open dispute and leave bad feedback. Is easier to just tell buyer to return for a refund, and itstops all the stress and upset. Is not worth the agro and bad feeling is it.

Anyway, you can't refuse a return, you have to accept it, whether it is voluntary or if eBay force your hand, so is better all round just to accept, refund and relist and move on.

GossipWitch · 29/09/2011 22:03

Just ordered cd mailers, I have a lot of loose discs.

GossipWitch · 30/09/2011 09:18

I've just sorted out a load of things for ebay just got to take pictures now and put them on!

GossipWitch · 30/09/2011 09:19

after I get my mailing sleeves

oopslateagain · 30/09/2011 09:23

I have had to request a 'cancelled transaction' which can take up to 7 days to resolve, otherwise everything else has gone through without a hitch.

Re-listing today, plus taking photos and listing all DH's old Haynes manuals which I can sell, can't wait to see the back of them TBH!

bilblio · 30/09/2011 09:56

Free listings again this weekend!

I was going to relist some some today, but I'll save take pictures today and list tomorrow instead.

I've decided not to list the craft things that aren't selling anymore, they rarely got any watchers either, so I'm going to put them on Etsy instead as they can be listed for ages and you only pay if they sell.

JarethTheGoblinKing · 30/09/2011 10:14

Oh god.. I've got so much to list and just can't be bothered. Big things too so would really benefit from the free listing (everything else just goes on at 99p) but they're big complicated things with detailed descriptions (car stereo and an old console).

Ugh. Someone spur me on?

bilblio · 30/09/2011 10:21

Go on....

Sorry not the most enthustiastic either, too hot, too pregnant, and been awake since 5...

In fact I think I'm going to put the washing on the line and go back to bed.

At least it's a good day for taking photos.

GossipWitch · 30/09/2011 10:55

I put some things on ebay... now I've just got to figure out how to put my page on here, can anyone help?

GossipWitch · 30/09/2011 10:57

Ahhh I found it! Here

GossipWitch · 30/09/2011 11:06

But it says I can only sell seven more items, why?.

PootlePosyPerkin · 30/09/2011 11:21

Gossip If you are a new Seller you will have a listing limit. Initially I think it is 10 items. There are things you can do to increase the limit but otherwise it will be lifted after 90 days.

fergoose · 30/09/2011 11:23

Gossip if you have your listings ending in the evening you may attract more buyers
