Post your listings and questions here. The purpose is to raise money for Christmas and I'll start by showing my (so far) meagre listings here

OP posts:

Right, have spent several hours listing quite a few items www.ebay.co.uk/sch/cubacat1972/m.html?_dmd=1&_ipg=50&_sop=12&_rdc=1 here. Fingers crossed they sell!

Just want to say thanks to the poster who detailed how to list things for a scheduled time then go back and edit them to list immediately, as I used that method today so I could list them all together this evening.

SoftKittyWarmKitty · 18/09/2011 21:04

Christ, that didn't work well did it Blush. Try again.

Machin11 · 18/09/2011 21:08

Phew, 10 items listed!! Lets hope I get some money (although 1 item has already got a bid yey).

Carrotsandcelery · 18/09/2011 21:15

I have listed some more tonight and am now at my listing limit. I need to connect to my bank account tomorrow so that I can list more. How frustrating!

Good luck everyone - let us know how you get on.

DecapitatedLegoman · 18/09/2011 21:42

Well, the one item I had ending tonight didn't sell. I've listed it 4 times now so I guess there's a message there ... nobody wants a blue jacket for their toddler. It was BNWT and everything! I shall give it to a friend. She'll probably bin it once I'm gone Grin

Lots listed for next week and I just need to plan the rest. A sling for starters and possibly a few books. And DH has some archery kit to sell.

Good luck to all with listings finishing now :)

Tortoise · 18/09/2011 21:52

My items all end tomorrow. All in one waterproof has shot up to around £5! With 12 watchers! 4 other items have a bid.

Millie1 · 18/09/2011 22:09

Can I ask another question please? I listed all my stuff for UK birders only but had an email from someone in Spain asking if I would let her bid on an item and how much postage would cost via small packets airmail to Europe. Via RM Price Calculator it came out at £4.25 when I added 50g on for wrapping and obviously upwards if the packaging weighs more. So I went back to her and said it would be £4-4.50 odd but would she be happy to pay £5. So she replied to say no problem but if it comes in at less than £5 I could then refund the difference. So question is, if I pay £4-something for postage then have to pay 60p odd for a post pack, I'm going to end up out of pocket if I refund the difference. All ifs and buts and maybes at the moment but not sure how to respond to that. I don't want to rip anyone off for postage but the costs are for P&P. what does everyone else do as regards packing and what to you use to wrap your things? I live in the country so it's expensive for me to buy the plastic post packets locally. Advice appreciated! Thanks Smile

All my things are live now - I've got a bidder on my Clarks girls boots already! Only the £3.99 starting price but .... Grin

fergoose · 18/09/2011 22:13

I would only send abroad with a signature to be honest. As for packaging, buy mailing sacks on ebay or reuse any clean jiffy bags to keep costs down.

If you don't want to sell abroad then you don't have to - it is your auction.

JarethTheGoblinKing · 18/09/2011 22:16

Tortoise - the boys all in one waterproof I put on last week went for £8 :)
Brilliant, especially as it cost me nothing!

Millie1 · 18/09/2011 22:18

Thanks Fergoose - I did wonder about reusing clean Boden jiffy bags! Hmmm ... did mention to her re the signature on delivery but she hasn't picked up on it. Might go back to her on that one.

Tortoise · 18/09/2011 22:18

For packaging I re-use what I can and buy the parcel bags on Ebay. Quite cheap to get a good supply.

DecapitatedLegoman · 18/09/2011 22:32

I try to reuse what I can - I have a big file where I store any jiffy bags, bubble wrap, pieces of brown paper, and I bought a bulk pack of plastic postage envelopes on eBay for a pittance which has saved me a fortune. Some baby shoes I sold last week were posted out in a modified Shredded Wheat box to save them from damage Grin

I have sold overseas a few times with no problems at all. I would just be honest with your buyer, Millie, and explain that the packaging will also cost a bit, and just give them a final cost which they can take or leave.

SoftKittyWarmKitty · 18/09/2011 22:35

I get a lot of my jiffy bags from work Poundland. Bought 3 large bags yesterday for £1.

mogs0 · 19/09/2011 09:52

Decap - I listed a monsoon shrug 3 times at 2.99 and don't think I even had watchers, certainly no bids. It then got shoved into a bag until I decided what to do with it. I put it on again a year later and it sold for £44 Shock. it's original price was £40 and I only paid £20 for it in the sale. eBay is a very crazy place!

JarethTheGoblinKing · 19/09/2011 10:26

Wow, the price some people will pay for things is incredible :)

Carrotsandcelery · 19/09/2011 11:12

Jareth you look like you will do well today.

I am a bit concerned as two of my sales last week haven't paid yet. The items are parceled and ready to go and I have sent them invoices. How long do I wait? What do I do?

Millie1 · 19/09/2011 11:22

Thanks for the advice everyone. I think I'll parcel it and weigh it properly then give her a firm price today via email.

Can you send reminders Carrots? That's really frustrating.

Carrotsandcelery · 19/09/2011 11:41

I think I will Millie - a polite nudge!

mogs0 · 19/09/2011 11:48

Well, I've finally started adding to my Christmas fund and have sold a buggy for £75 (quite a bit less than I'd hoped for but it had to go!). I spent ages trying to wrap it in bubble wrap and bin bags last night and have taken it to the parcelforce depot this morning.

I have 2 huge bags of clothes from my sister to list and a whole room full of stuff that I've been collecting for years months.

voodoomunkee · 19/09/2011 11:51

I would very much like to join but not sure if my stuff is worth selling? DD's Brownie Uniform, some assorted dc's clothes, some unworn boots and shoes, some books.... I would just like to get back some of what I blew at the weekend on baby stuff!

Machin11 · 19/09/2011 12:12

Hi Voodoo, you would be amazed what sells, it tends to be stuff that I expect to go, never does and stuff that I probably should charity shop flies!! Strange place eBay, it's worth a try, and see if you can get anything for your stuff, have you searched on eBay for th type of thing you will be selling, if theres a few bids around on it, it's well worth it. If theres hundreds of the same, all for 49p with no bids don't bother, and if there are no items at all, list it!! My first venture into eBay was a wooden (huge) gate that when we bought the house was in the garage, it was BN, hubby was going to chop it up, I listed it and it sold for £66 Shock .

dizzyday07 · 19/09/2011 12:14

voodoo - i'm sure the Brownie uniform will do well (I've just sold DD's Rainbows one!)

JarethTheGoblinKing · 19/09/2011 12:17

Wow, good haul this morning. Now if someone would just bid on those damn boots of mine to get things going Wink

voodoomunkee · 19/09/2011 12:59

I have sold shoes etc in the past but as I have been skint for a few years I havent really spent on replacing them! I know I am not the only one that buys shoes and clothes and never wears them! OOO I just remembered the 2 pairs of BNWT Next Jeans, The babybjorn mini worlds BNIB too. I tried to sell some speakers etc that my ex had from when he did up a car for a show and I found in the loft but they didnt go. I need a nice clear couple of days to get listing, am too tired on an evening when I get in from work!

Thanks everyone, hope your sales are going well!

SNOWBall4girlz · 19/09/2011 17:23
