Post your listings and questions here. The purpose is to raise money for Christmas and I'll start by showing my (so far) meagre listings here

Thank you Tortoise I'll do that now.

Tortoise · 12/09/2011 22:03

I think I have gone mad! Just bid on and won a bundle of 10 various nerf guns! Some boxed. Worked it out to be over £200 worth. I won them for £70.
Plan is to give DS2 one for birthday and sell the others back on, hopefully for a profit! Grin

Carrotsandcelery · 12/09/2011 22:24

Dh has told me that folk at his work go to TKMaxx and buy heaps of stuff. They put it on ebay with the reserve being just above what they paid for it. If it sells they make a profit, if not they take it back to the shop and get a refund.

It's a bit more hardcore than I dare to go really.

Good luck with the guns Tortoise. I imagine they will be popular in the run up to Christmas. Just watch your reserve.

I bought a pair of Mary Jane Crocs for DD at the beginning of summer, when they arrive they were adult sized, they were £2.50 in the sale, put them on Ebay and they went for £31!

Keep meaning to stock up on sale Crocs!

Redumbdancy · 12/09/2011 22:27

from Sports Direct I meant to add

dizzyday07 · 13/09/2011 10:44

I'm trying to get the house neat and tidy again as we have another estate agent coming to take pictures tomorrow and it's annoying me that we have piles of bulky games & jigsaws that just won't go easily into the storage boxes we have. So I feel they will be next to be uploaded!!

Carrotsandcelery · 13/09/2011 10:50

Redumbdancy that is brilliant.

The bids are beginning to creep up on the items that finish over the next few days. One is selling for more than I paid for it by about £5 at the mo. I just hope it all goes well.

Anyone got anything finishing today?

DecapitatedLegoman · 13/09/2011 10:51

I've spent more than I've earned this week Blush so I think I will dig out some more bits this afternoon and set to listing them tonight. I did get some cool winter hats for the DC and a couple of birthday presents but t's not like I've got anything amazing for myself, just a fugly bag to clutter my wardrobe further!

LaWeasel · 13/09/2011 10:56

Okay, who's refunded before? And how do we do it? The eBay help pages are a load of crap.

fergoose · 13/09/2011 11:06

log into paypal and find the payment, click on it then select refund.

If your paypal account doesn't have sufficient funds you will have to transfer from your bank first which takes a few days.

LaWeasel · 13/09/2011 13:38

Aha, that makes sense. Do I have to do anything in eBay as well? Or will it know once I've done it and automatically mark it up as refunded/cancelled/whatever.

fergoose · 13/09/2011 15:21

no you don't need to do anything else - the eBay item will automatically be marked as refunded.

dizzyday07 · 13/09/2011 21:41

Made a big boo-boo on postage of an item! It went over the 2kg weight so had to pay £7.62 instead of £4.41 (charged £4.50). I sold it for £2.50 so even before taking fees into account I've lost money :(

That will teach me to actually weigh the item instead of using the item weight quoted on Amazon!

DinosaursHateUnderpants · 13/09/2011 22:20

A few more bits listed from me here

Sounds like everyone is doing OK with sales. I still haven't noticed sales picking up much after Summer yet but I'm optimistic about October as I've looked back and can see our sales jumped a fair bit last year.

Few more buy it nows were snapped up last night taking me to over £100 since Sunday. Will list more on Thursday having them as 10 day auctions.

Tortoise · 14/09/2011 16:52

Might list some bits tonight in 4 day listing.
Any experience of doing better the longer items are listed? I hate waiting 10 days for things to end!

JarethTheGoblinKing · 14/09/2011 17:24

Ugh, just remembered I have some boots to list tonight for 10th day listing, must remember to do it later

Machin11 · 14/09/2011 20:22

Ooooh, I'm a bit later than most (and don't think I can make £350 either - maybe £200) but can I please join??? I will be clutter free and richer so I can buy Xmas presents!!! :)

Carrotsandcelery · 14/09/2011 20:31

I have just made my first two sales and I am very excited. My grand total is £18 so I am a long way off the £350 mark but it is still money I would never have had if I hadn't tried.

What does everyone advise as far as packaging and posting? I have heard that a personal note with the item is a good idea and packaging it as nicely as I can etc. What is the etiquette?

Honeydragon · 14/09/2011 20:47

OMG I have 4 min to go logged on and people have gone mad over my dms ShockConfused

Tortoise · 14/09/2011 20:54

Honeydragon What condition are they in? I have a dark red pair that I rarely wear so might list them. They are a bit marked in places though I think.

Honeydragon · 14/09/2011 20:56

I think I need a lie down

Honeydragon · 14/09/2011 20:57

Well look

I thought I did amazing getting £34 odd for my nubuck ones, get them boots listed pronto!

chirpchirp · 14/09/2011 20:58

Nice one Honeydragon! I'm not surprised they went for a fair whack though, they look nicely worn in and I've never seen another pair like them!

Honeydragon · 14/09/2011 20:58

I list both as scuffed and used and showed faults on them, I always try to be transparent.
