So it appears I posted the 1,000 message on our previous thread and now it's closed so I've opened us a new home!

Your welcome to join all !
I found my donor on pride angel as many people will tell you, you will get messages of people just looking for sex or saying the natural way is the only way. If you want to do it natural nothing wrong with that but make sure the guy is doing it for a good reason. I messaged a few heard back from about half a couple stopped talking. I messaged to and from a couple asked questions they asked ones of me. Finally I landed on the donor I have know, although he does live quite far.
I so want to try next month I don't think lockdown will be lifted enough for travel. I'm looking into sellmer diers but at £500 I really need to think I about it.

AlltheLemurs · 10/05/2020 12:55

Thank you oh so trying. It sounds like you have a lovely donor. I am quit nervous about the whole process of finding a donor. I do think it would be easier in many ways to go to a clinic but I don’t like the idea of it being unknown.

What is selimer diers? I am very new to all of this? Hi

ohsotrying · 10/05/2020 14:10

I was very nervous and still am. Haven't done first meeting yet! Sellmer diers is a sperm bank and one of the only ones that will deliver to your house, but it's quite expensive.

AlltheLemurs · 11/05/2020 07:54

Would that £500 be only of use for one cycle. That is a lot. Did you consider going to a clinic? I know they are not open at the moment but for me that would give a lot of reassurance but I think it would be better for the child to go for a known donor.

I know clinics are very expensive but I wonder if they were more likely to be successful.

Newchapter2020 · 11/05/2020 11:33

I didn't realise that they still delivered to the home. I was going to go with a sperm bank last year but then because of Brexit they were no longer able to deliver to your home

Sunbird24 · 11/05/2020 23:09

May I join you? I’m 42 and never expected to not have a family by now, but I’ve had a really rubbish time with relationships so seriously considering going it alone. It’s terrifying though! Am I best going straight for IVF at my age?

AlltheLemurs · 12/05/2020 07:21

Sunbird24 I think that it might be better to straight for IVF. I am just at the start of finding out about all of this but I did see somewhere on a clinic website that IUI wasn’t successful after 40 (they had percentage success rates) and they did recommend going straight to IVF.

I do know two people who conceived naturally at 42 so you do have a good chance of getting pregnant.

ohsotrying · 13/06/2020 15:30

Posted on another thread to. But after a two month break my cycle has finally started and I will be meeting my donor for first time. So nervous and so excited I know it probably won't work first time but it's worth a go! I've been taking folic acid, got 5ml syringes and some sterile pots. Might get some sperm age lube, good idea ? Anything else. Hope all you ladies are okay at the moment.

Sunbird24 · 13/06/2020 15:41

@ohsotrying how exciting! All the best of luck for you!
I got my AMH results back and it’s 16/2.24 so the clinic think I should have a good chance. Just waiting for them to have the meeting and discuss that alongside the report from the counsellor to give the thumbs up. Have already earmarked a favourite donor at ESB but he doesn’t have any previous pregnancies so I don’t know if I should pick someone with a proven track record instead?

Leala20 · 13/06/2020 18:59

@Sunbird24 this is a great amh level. I am 38 and unfortunately it’s under 1 so this must have impacted my ttc and this is why I will be getting an egg donation.
@ohsotrying that’s also great news. I am looking forward to August/September for the donation. I will be using frozen eggs.

Sunbird24 · 15/06/2020 20:23

Ooh that’s not too long to wait @Leala20, really hope it works for you!

KLO0224 · 16/06/2020 22:29

So after much debate and deliberation we agreed to do insemination this month- our donor lives around the corner (for now) so got our flashing smiley face on Saturday and inseminated that night. I’ve been testing everyday since, waiting for the solid steady face and up to this morning it’s still flashing. We did another insemination last night, hopefully the test will be positive tomorrow so that will be the last insemination for this cycle. I don’t think for a minute it will work first time but I think we have give it a good shot this month!
We have used pre seed, I’ve been taking evening primrose oil, I laid still for half an hour after and had an O each time. Is there anything else I can do to increase chances?

Waiting2BAMummy · 16/06/2020 23:07

Good luck @KLO0224 how often are you testing with your opk? After you start getting the flashing smiley you’re supposed to start testing twice a day. If you have a short surge and you only test once a day you could miss it. You are supposed to test with FMU and then I usually do my afternoon test around 3/4.

KLO0224 · 17/06/2020 07:53

@Waiting2BAMummy I’ve been testing twice a day with the clear blue connect tests (which I don’t recommend) as I usually get my surge around 5pm. Il be testing today when I get home from work and hopefully it will be solid. I’m having the usual headache, cramps and EWCM consistent with when I ovulate to fingers crossed.

Waiting2BAMummy · 17/06/2020 09:39

Fingers crossed for you @KLO0224

How is everyone doing this weekend?
I discovered today the donor I’d pretty much decided to go for is now no longer available for UK procedures, so it’s back to the drawing board. My mum had a really vivid dream last week about me having a baby girl, it’s so hard not to get carried away thinking about what might be...

ohsotrying · 30/06/2020 22:02

Getting so hard to have to do this with a donor. I've missed this month know. I have found another donor who's 3 1/2 hours away which is a bit closer. Here's to next month !

Sunbird24 · 30/06/2020 22:39

Fingers crossed for you @ohsotrying.
I’m still waiting for the report from the counsellor at the clinic to get to me so I can sign it and send it back. That’s pretty much all they need before we can get started, and they put it in the post a week ago

Emzii · 15/07/2020 11:33

Has someone used sellmer diers?

KLO0224 · 18/08/2020 21:47

Can’t quite believe I am writing this... so after 2 months of trying with our donor we got a positive pregnancy test (well 3 actually) on Sunday! I was 25 days past ovulation and no sign of AF but that isn’t unusual as I have had 47 day cycles before. I just didn’t feel right but we were on holiday last week so waited till we were home to test and it was bloody positive!!! I’m still in shock...

Waiting2BAMummy · 18/08/2020 22:01

Congratulations @KLO0224 great news

KLO0224 · 13/09/2020 19:33

Unfortunately the dream didn’t last, we miscarried at 8 weeks. Heart broken isn’t the word. But on the bright side I now know that I am capable of getting pregnant, which was always a massive question mark hanging over us.
How is everyone else’s journey going? It’s been very quiet since lockdown which is a shame because I always found this group a good source of knowledge and comfort. I hope everyone is doing ok.

Waiting2BAMummy · 13/09/2020 20:19

So sorry to hear of your miscarriage @KLO0224 I had a chemical pregnancy in March and I know hard hard it is for it all to be over after that initial overwhelming happiness.

I’m still trying in fact my donor is due over in around 40 minutes! I’ve just invested in an ovusense as I feel like I never know when I’m ovulating.

Hope you get your rainbow BFP really soon x

OP posts:
KLO0224 · 13/09/2020 20:32

Oh @Waiting2BAMummy I’ve got everything crossed for you I hope this is your month!
How long after your chemical pregnancy did you try again? I only ask because now we are both a little more emotionally stable we will inevitably begin talking about trying again.
Our donor is willing and waiting for us so that’s very lovely of him.
I am physically well, I just fear emotionally I’m not quite there. I had in my head maybe November to start trying again, I’m not getting any younger, I will be 35 this year.
I will begin tracking again from this month, it could be the case that it takes a while for my cycles to click in, so we will just see how it goes.

Waiting2BAMummy · 13/09/2020 21:06

I started the following month @KLO0224 I’m 39 (was 38 at the time) so really don’t have time to waste. There is no right or wrong answer you have to do what’s right for you and that’s not the same for everyone.

I’m here if you need to vent at any time and I hope things move quickly for you once you feel ready to try again.
