This thread is for anyone trying to conceive... or thinking about doing so through donor IUI or donor IVF. Nothing TMI - feel free to join, we are a lovely group here to support and help keep the cray-cray away!

Soon, Pickle, soon! Can you do anything else by way of prep like pelvic floor exercises or something?! Or alternatively something completely different to remind you there is life beyond this process? I think that's important too.

Calz81 · 19/03/2017 20:00

Hi everyone,
I'm new here, someone sent me link to this topic. I've been having iui with a donor. I had my iui 2 weeks ago and was supposed to be doing the test tonkorrow but my af has appeared today meaning it hasn't worked. Gutted is one word 😪😪

pickle162 · 19/03/2017 20:07

Ah that's so cool hoping

Haha witch I think that's a very good plan to try and focus on other things. Have got some nice things coming up NOT related to this

Hi calz81 welcome, sorry to hear it's nice work this time round 😔 have you taken a test incase it's a weird implantation bleed?
Was this ur first attempt?

Pez82 · 19/03/2017 20:07

Welcome Calz! Sorry to hear your IUI hasn't worked Flowers. Unfortunately many of us know how heartbreaking this is 😓. Was it your first one?
Which clinic are you using if you don't mind telling us?

witchmountain · 19/03/2017 20:08

Welcome Calz, sorry to hear it hasn't worked out his time Sad was that your first IUI? Lots of people here who've been through the same Flowers

Calz81 · 19/03/2017 20:17

Sadly it's not my first attempt. This was in fact my 5th. My 3rd was a positive but sadly had a stillborn at 29 weeks. 👼🏻
It's def my af. No denying it. Usual back ache and cramps and the rest.
I haven't actually read the other comments so I am playing a bit of catch up. Thanks for welcome me into the chat 😊🌷

Calz81 · 19/03/2017 20:18

Oh and I am using a clinic in London, london women's clinic.

pickle162 · 19/03/2017 20:23

Awe calz I'm so sorry that must have been so awful 😔 have u got any plans to try iui again or move over to ivf or taking a break?

witchmountain · 19/03/2017 20:30

Oh that's awful Calz, I'm so sorry FlowersFlowersFlowers

I'm also with LWC but have frozen embryos for use later rather than done IUI.

Pez82 · 19/03/2017 20:36

Oh Calz, I can't even begin to imagine how hard this must have been.
Will you continue on IUI? I got a BFN on Friday on my 3rd IUI attempt and I'm now moving onto an ivf lite cycle (just about to perform my 2nd injection)

Bear1980 · 19/03/2017 20:49

Aw calz81 that must have been awful. This group is great for providing support so I hope you will be glad you have found it I know I am. Do you know what your next steps will be?

Calz81 · 19/03/2017 21:00

That's all. It has be the best and worst year. 30th march last year I got my bfp, best day ever. then 26th sept my little boy was born. Another amazing day. The best and worst all rolled into one. Only 6 months. Witchmountain I have all my fingers crossed for you. I have found the lwc brilliant.
Pez I know how deflating those bfns are. But It can and will happen. Wishing you all the best on the ivf journey.
I am going to speak to the dr and see what she thinks is the best way forward. It's hard to know as I know I can fall pregnant but I was hoping it would have happened already.
How long have you been on this journey? Are you in a couple or going the single route? I've gone the single route. You don't have to answer if you don't wish too. X

Calz81 · 19/03/2017 21:01

That should say 'thanks all'

kwick · 19/03/2017 21:03

May have over done it slightly at Bletchley... bruised and sore today 🤕

Thanks pez will try that next time.
Is the neighbour's car still there?

witch I enjoyed the Cabinet War Rooms too. Even though I have visited BP twice, seen the films Engima and Imitation Game I am still a bit clueless as to how they did it - I would defo have been a toilet cleaner rather than a code breaker!

pez I have had injection leakage too - tranquila

What a bugger caution looks painful.

@JigglyTuff Thank you so much for lobbying :). although I have been know to start thread just in conception Blush

I love the idea of framing picture of early days baby - I have two photos already of embryo and it just breaks my heart that one resulted in a MC and another in a BFN.

Welcome @Calz81
Really sorry to hear about your BFN and the still birth. I cannot inagine how painful that must have been. Flowers

I'm on single route too, 1st iui booked for May and I'm with care fertility but been planning and researching for 18months
Hope all goes well tomorrow xx

HopingForALittleOne · 19/03/2017 21:09

Welcome Calz I'm so sorry to hear about your BfN it's quite a tough journey this one but this is a great supportive thread! If you flick to beginning of this thread most of us have given a little intro on what we are doing / what fertility clinic and attempts.

pez good luck with second injection xx

Pez82 · 19/03/2017 21:16

I'm doing this solo too Calz, as are many of us on this thread. I started the journey in September last year and had my 1st IUI in January. This is my 4th cycle in a row, no time wasted!
Personally I don't know what I would do without the support from this group. I've told a few close friends and relatives but it's not quite the same...

Kwick, I promise I really want to take a photo to show you but I'm still waiting for a ray of sunshine to do so! The car is still there, to be fair I don't really see it anymore...

Second injection done - I don't think I'm the most delicate person when it comes to pushing the needle in but as I'm doing this to myself it doesn't really matter! Grin

HopingForALittleOne · 19/03/2017 21:25

Well done pez x

pickle162 · 19/03/2017 21:32

How long are you injecting for pez? What meds are u on?

Calz81 · 19/03/2017 21:34

4th, that's impressive. My first three took me a year to do, with having to save between attempts. This time I've had the opportunity to go for two in a row, a third if the dr thinks I should.
It's good to know there's other single women too in the same journey.
Going to the lwc I found a support group there too, some of you might know about it. A good source of help.
I've been and read some of the intros though I now can't remember who wrote what so I'll give a quick into about me.
I'm 35, been on this journey 2 years. I gave up long ago on waiting for the right man to come along. I use donors from the London Sperm bank. My fist two try's were two different donors, my third fourth and fifth have all been the same donor. I have one more sample left. I want to try and have a full genetic sibling for my son.
The idea of ivf scares me and I hop I don't have to go that route, though other woman have said if the dr says to, to just go for it.

Pez82 · 19/03/2017 22:03

The thought of having ivf scared me a few weeks ago (especially as my 3 IUIs were 100% natural) until I realised it could give me a real shot and now I'm actually really excited about it! I hope you're successful with the last vial

Pickle, I'm on 150iu FSH (bemfola, which is similar to gonal f or menopur. Supposed to do this for 8 days, and add Cetrotide from day 5 (to stop ovulation), trigger on day 10 and egg retrieval on day 12. I think that's a pretty standard protocol and dose for mild ivf.

Calz81 · 19/03/2017 22:32

Me too pez, be it iui or ivf I hope it works. All my iui have been natural too.
Hope yours works x

Karendvm · 19/03/2017 22:46

calz81 welcome. Best of luck on your journey!

pez good job on your second injection!

shoes how are you and little shoes? How far along are you now?

Greeneyes5 · 19/03/2017 23:05

Hi everyone I've been following for a while and you all seem very supportive of each other :-) I'm only in the planning / saving up stage it will be a long while off yet for me financially - it's so great to hear your stories and to find out more info on the process. I always thought I would be a mum in my early 20's but it just never happened for me and turning 30 has made me realise I need to start planning ahead!
