From day of separation until Decree Nisi (spelling?).
I'm guessing 2 yrs is about average. Friend managed it in 4-5 months, though.

Separation to Decree Nisi 4months then Decree Absolute 3months after that.

coreyp · 11/11/2019 22:00

Thanks.
Anyone else?

Separation to nisi three months - financial consent order seven weeks and counting - it’s in the pile for the judge to review.

Veronicat · 11/11/2019 22:07

6 weeks start to finish but I'm in Scotland and it was a clean break.

suesylvesterr · 11/11/2019 22:13

Almost a year for me. Was all done online and took a ridiculous amount of time. It was a simple divorce as well.

suesylvesterr · 11/11/2019 22:13

A year from the date of me filing for divorce, not from when we split.

VictoriaBun · 11/11/2019 22:16

Married 19 years, separated in March , divorced by December.

Karou · 11/11/2019 22:19

My solicitor has told me that unless one of us becomes a lot more batshit crazy it will take about 4 months.

OhioOhioOhio · 11/11/2019 22:22

More than 3 years and still counting...

TheHodgeoftheHedge · 11/11/2019 22:28

Almost exactly a year from start to finish.

divorcedtobe · 11/11/2019 22:58

3 and a half years. Nearly 3 years after the divorce I’m still in and out of court.
Beware if you are divorcing a narcissist.

Ilovetolurk · 11/11/2019 23:00

About 3 months

Consent order and absolute just under 6 months

EL8888 · 11/11/2019 23:06

Around 11 months. Partly because of shit solicitors and ex trying to screw me out of money. He failed dismally after trying to give me about 3% of what I was entitled to.

Lonecatwithkitten · 12/11/2019 00:51

5.5 years it is very, very difficult to deal with inactivity. I would complete my side it would then disappear in to black hole of ExH for 9-18 months. Then reappear, but have to be redone as finances had moved or in one case the way the documents had to be presented to court changed.

What did you find out that could help me? It's a nightmare. We are all sick of it.

fishonabicycle · 12/11/2019 06:32

How much does a divorce cost, all done online and uncontested?

stucknoue · 12/11/2019 06:45

Waiting 2 years then filing online. Why spend on solicitors!

Karou · 12/11/2019 06:52

fish it’s going to cost me just over £2000 as my solicitor works on a fixed fee.
You can do it yourself a lit cheaper but we have complicated finances that I’d rather were dealt with correctly so I’ll pay.

Fishcakey · 12/11/2019 07:05

It was much less than a year but neither of us argued and there was no money, property involved.

Thatnovembernight · 12/11/2019 07:13

8 months. It would have been quicker but the court kept saying they were behind and there were 8 weeks delays between paperwork going in and being processed etc.

gemh1984 · 12/11/2019 07:50

Applied for divorce on the 27th January and nisi granted on 24th October this year.

Waiting for an agreement on finances so probably at least another 6 months before divorce will be final.

fishonabicycle · 12/11/2019 09:25

Thank you 👍

PrincessHoneysuckle · 12/11/2019 09:42

One year to the day

Ohio
My lovely. Work out what you are entitled to. Do not accept shitty offers that leave you in a shitty position. It’s not about justice or right snd wrong. The courts don’t care about that. It is about safe guarding your finances. I was and am dealing with someone who would happily have taken the shirt off my back and the socks off my kids feet. All with a smile and claiming to be the victim.
Cost me about 25-30k. We hardly ate. I borrowed from family. It was worth it.
Read Never Split the Difference. Spartanlifecoach on YouTube was really insightful in terms of narcissistic behaviour.
Do lots of inner work

Once you come out the other side you will feel a strength and a power you never knew you had.

WendyMoiraAngelaDarling · 12/11/2019 10:26

12 years because he's a flaky mo-fo who wouldn't give a proper address or engage with the process. Once I pinned him down the divorce itself was done within four months and was very straightforward.
