how is your man around the house???

Im sitting here now thinking i should be doing more in the house when im not at work and when i come home i would like to know if the majority of blokes are the same as me? lazy

1. Does your man work? fulltime/partime?

2. Do you work? or are you a SAHM?

3. What does your man do around the house i:e chores etc?

1. my man works full time but doing different jobs, of which only 1 is regularly paid and one is his own business he is setting up so doesn't yet count

2. i am a SAHM

3)he does no chores. he will make tea on occasion and will do the dishes if i tell him he has to do them or i destroy a guitar(hes in a band) he can make a damn fine mess tho

I will answer my own questions too,

1. I work full time

2. my wife is a SAHM

3. I do occassionally help round the house, i feel i maybe should do more thats why i have started this thread, so far its looking good

My OH works fulltime.

I also work fulltime.

He works random hours so when he's got a day off & I haven't he'll do any chores that need doing & vice versa for me on my days off. We both clear up our own mess and when we're both on a day off we share it out. We also share childcare between us. He is pretty good cos if I ask him to do something he'll do it without moaning.

He works full time and I work 4 days a week and we split all the chores. Today he has cleaned the whole flat (other weeks it is me) and he cooks dinner every night while I am putting ds to bed. And I love the fact that he doesn't take me for granted or assume that I will just do all that stuff.

My dh is a saint in the house.
This is why i married him.When I saw how lovely his student digs were (bizarre i know) I knew I could rely on him to look afterme.

Miondshaker,women find thi thoguht of thing very attractive and are far more inclined to engage in wild abandoned sex if they know the kitchen has been mopped,the ironing put away and the dishwasher emptied.

dh is lazy but then so am I so I don't judge him. He unloads the dishwasher every morning (starts work late but finishes late) and helps me with the kids in the morning. Other than that, he often helps put the washing away and he always does the rubbish (the only chore I have nothing to do with!).

Dh workd full time, me 3 days a week.

I do the proper cleaning or the 'bottoming' as I call it, he always clean the kitchen and mops floors down stairs.

If he cooks I wash up and vice versa, however he goes no where near the laundy as it scares him!!

Ok another question -

1. What would you EXPECT from your man who worked full time if you were a SAHM?

Have just answered this on the other thread. Just looking after young kids is a full-time, valuable job and you wouldn't ask your nursery nurse or child-minder to do your housework.

On my 2 days as a SAHM I look after my kids, make lunch and usually dinner, maybe put a wash on and maybe do some shopping. I expect dh who works full-time to do nearly 50% of childcare when he's at home and about 50% of housework. I do most of shopping, most of cooking and all ironing (or pay someone else to do it).

We're a bit complicated though. We're both teachers but I have more work to bring home and I do freelance work too for extra money.

Yes, I'm just starting to realize how lucky I am with dh. I had a very domesticated dad so just thought all men did their fair share. Really hope dh doesn't find out this isn't the case.

Fulltime, often odd shifts.

25 hours per week.

DH can and does turn his hand to almost everything. Cooks if he's in most nights. Only thing he lacks is in the "thinking ahead" department, but I really can't criticise cos he does loads, and often far more than me.

i thougth this was regarding DIY stuff
and dh is excellant, i never need a handyman to repair anything - he even attempted the washing machine - but we got a new one instead,#

re housework - hmmm hovering yes, anthing else not worht his while as ill find fault.
childcare - hmmm - good and bad times

do some of oyu get days where they mind the children - me seldom. he just says they miss u

Flip the question if your wife worked F/T and you stayed at home.....how much help would you expect?

My dH works 25 hrs a week (for me)

I work 52 hrs a week

We share childcare 50:50 (I often take DD to "work" with me)

I do all the business paperwork all the H/H paperwork

Also half the cooking 2/3rd of diy & painting

He does all cleaning, washing up, laundry, ironing bins and about 1/3rd DIY stuff

Yep, dh does nearly 50% of childcare though he has had the odd weekend away (which I never have) and quite a few nights out (which I rarely have).

My earlier response would be different if all kids were at school though. Can't really see the point of being a full-time SAHM then TBH (hope that doesn't offend anyone) and certainly wouldn't expect much housework from dh in that case.

If I was a SAHM I'd expect OH to:

tidy up after himself
iron his shirts (he's very particular about his ironing so it's easier for him to just do it himself!)
maybe make the odd meal, although it would depend on what time he was home (we usually end up doing it together which is nice)
50% of childcare when he was home
help out with chores at the weekend.

If I was a SAHM it would be good as OH sometimes works early or late in the day so I would be able to spend time with him.

However, I don't think I could be a SAHM now that LO's at school. Quite like working (not sure how much I'll like working & studying tho, but that's another matter!)

he'd also have to mow the lawn as I hate doing that!
