What look should we go for in the men's bit? The old gentlemen's club look with the green leather chairs, loads of books and papers and a thick fog everywhere? How about modern black leather and chrome furniture and white everything else? How about the garden shed look with tools, things soaking in oil and hidden porn?

taupe chenille.

BelfastBloke · 17/01/2011 19:35

black and chrome, surely?

Pan · 17/01/2011 21:11

Well some years ago I did host a party in Dadsnet, allowing in les girls - for one night only, you understand. We held it in the pluvatorium, which you will see just down the corridor. I did have that room made out in Italian marble, though it hasn't been used much since. Further on is the steam bath, where we congregated to discuss important issues of the day. The plunge pool is the next room, at the end.

For the drawing room I'd go with Tiggy's idea of the 'club feel' - tbh we have left it in a bit of a mess in recent years so it could do with a total make-over. UQD may have an opinion?

That room off it can be a sporting room and have a plasma for important sports occassions, and the last room in the east wing can be a small gym.

Don't let me start on the upstairs.

We would also need to recruit serving staff...any ideas.....??

Truckulente · 17/01/2011 21:21

I'll have a beer fridge by my chair please and the Sky remote.

I like the idea of 'les girls' coming in but perhaps more than once.

Pan · 17/01/2011 21:26

tbh one or two had a bacardi breezer too many, they came over all a bit unnecessary with a couple of the chaps and ended up fighting with each other. Very unseemly - I had to get Helen@HQ to break it all up. We would need agreements on behaviour...

Truckulente · 17/01/2011 22:06

We could call it the Drovers Return.

Truckulente · 17/01/2011 22:10

On the toilet doors the signs could be

'Mansplainers' and 'Feminists'

Pan · 17/01/2011 22:19

ooh we like the name.

I'll organise a granite portico entrance with Drovers Return inlaid in gold on the lintel.

UnquietDad · 18/01/2011 12:54

"Club feel" as long as it is tasteful...

TiggyD · 18/01/2011 13:22

I assume "les girls" doesn't count staff. I don't want to have to plump my own cushions!Shock

OP posts:
Pan · 18/01/2011 13:28

No TD, we would have specific cushion-plumping staff, suitably attired, just for that purpose. Fear not.

We will need a shoe-polishing service, as well as strict admissions policy for the door staff. That bit should be straight-forward though.

UnquietDad · 18/01/2011 13:58

There's a nice Irish girl looking for a job behind the bar.

Pan · 18/01/2011 14:27

Good choice. She already owns a pub in LA, so perhaps she can 'run' the bar?

I'd quite like her to provide some stimulating discussion at pre-set times.

UnquietDad · 18/01/2011 15:49

In charge of games ?

TechLovingDad · 18/01/2011 15:51

Surely, as blokes, we won't notice if it's decorated?

Pan · 18/01/2011 16:15

Capital, UQD.

Don't fight the evolutionary process TLD.Grin

Truckulente · 18/01/2011 16:24

A calendar with tits on it?

Jamie Oliver, Boris Johnson and Hugh Grant. Will that do?

We could throw darts at it.

Pan, should it be MetrosexualDadsnet? Grin

Pan · 18/01/2011 18:14

Hmm..if the only difference is a flair for interior design......

though I do namechange for Style and Beauty.Grin

I would quite like some large potted plants and a ceiling fan in the drawing room/Bar area.

Truckulente · 18/01/2011 18:44

Beertrickspotter- Remember this is Dadsnet you're not allowed any preconceived ideas stereotyping us poor, oppressed, down-trodden men.

D'you know I've never watched Top Gear? Can't stand cars, Clarkson is quite funny on QI though.

Any Clare in the Community fans? In one episode at Brian's men's group there was mentioned a talking stick, we could have one of those to stop us mansplaining all over each other?
