My DH and I have started going to the theatre Saturday matinees more regularly now our kids are older teens and we can leave them home alone on Saturday afternoons!!

We have booked Dracula so far as Australian friends have raved about it but wondering what else is coming out that people are excited about?

You could try todaytix. I think if you download the app you can try for "rush" tickets which are last minute discounted tickets - although I don't think you get a choice about seating.

I've bought discounted tickets through SeatPlan before but with any site always worth checking you're not paying more than if you bought direct!

berlinbaby2025 · 15/02/2026 17:27

Thanks for that @tumbletoast 😀

JennyWreny · 15/02/2026 19:35

@berlinbaby2025 as tumbletoast mentioned, there are rush tickets on Todaytix. I've been looking at them for High Noon and there seem to have been plenty available.

They are released at 10am and I've been checking most days for the last week. I've even been able to find them still available in the afternoon. Obviously that could change. If you are able, check at 10am tomorrow and Tuesday so you can see how it works. Once you've chosen how many tickets you want it goes to the payment screen and if you scroll down you can see which ticket you have been allocated. You can release it and go back and try again. Obviously there's then a chance that they run out and you don't get a ticket.

When it says that all tickets are being held, it doesn't necessarily mean you won't get one because some people may not cash out so keep trying.

Also, I usually look on Theatremonkey website beforehand and look at the venue option and which seats to choose. You'll need to be a bit careful at the Harold Pinter because there's some huge pillars that you don't want to be behind.

Hope you manage to get a ticket, it gets good reviews.

I use this link for on the day discounts

I've just purchased a £15 standing ticket for All My Sons. 2 hours and 15 mins with no interval. I hope my legs can cope! The other tickets are so expensive for this show and I'm desperate to see it. Regretting not buying when there were cheaper seats available.

The seats are so uncomfortable that you are probably better off standing - I was in pain by the end. But the production is truly outstanding - it's honestly one of the best I've seen in 35 years of theatregoing. It's one of those rare moments when a brilliantly-crafted play and a director and actors at the top of their game come together to deliver something that's devastating and magical.

If anyone hasn't had the chance to see this, do try to go and see one of the NT Live screenings. I will probably do so as I was quite a distance from the stage and would like to be able to see the actors more close up in the final act than I was able to do in the theatre.

Has anyone seen Guess How Much I Love You at the Royal Court
It sounds amazing but I wondered if I would just cry all the way through which would not be attractive

DrMadelineMaxwell · 16/02/2026 23:55

Just back from watching Our Town with Michael Sheen. V enjoyable and well staged we thought.

Looking ahead we have got a fair few ones booked in.
Showstoppers in Salford. Going twice in one day as it's improvised so will be a different show each time. :)
Miss Saigon.
Operation Mincemeat in Chester.
Rocky Horror.
Sweeny Todd in Birmingham.
Little Shop of Horrors in Liverpool.
Cats in Llandudno.
Heathers in Blackpool in Oct.
And probably Moulin Rouge in August.

Quite a lot to look forward to. :)

Coming back to say Arcadia at the Old Vic is wonderful. Great cast and I loved the production, and it's such a brilliant play. Get tickets if you can!

Thanks for this, will def go and see the NT live one, I looked last night and the cheapest tickets were £222 ffs

JennyWreny · 17/02/2026 10:27

@OldieButBaddie If you could bear to stand then it seems that the standing tickets go on sale on Monday mornings for the following week (which will be the last week of the run). At least that's what has happened the last two weeks. Mine was £15.

Just went to see Bird Grove at the Hampstead Theatre. Amazing acting, fantastic dresses and really good story! I really recommend it!

Are you referring to All My Sons? Thank you

JellyBabiesmunch · 18/02/2026 16:08

Placestogo · 18/02/2026 16:10

Yes - it does work well. I saw fleabag like this and inter alia
it works really well and is a lot cheaper

Our screening is at an upstairs (small) theatre within the main theatre building. I checked our nearest Vue cinema that was screening it and it was actually £5 more expensive to see it at the cinema rather than the theatre.

EnchantingDecoration · 18/02/2026 16:44

The cost varies between the cinema chains too. I have booked the stream of The Audience next week at a Reel cinema which for normal films is more expensive than Vue but was cheaper for this (£16 vs £20 at Vue).

ErrolTheDragon · 18/02/2026 18:00

The screenings we’ve seen in the past of NTL/RSC productions have been at the Dukes in Lancaster in their Rake theatre, which mostly gets used for films but is also used for plays (their other theatre is the Round, which doesn’t work for everything). So it’s a really good space for the purpose. I need to take a look and see what they’ve got scheduled.

HarpQuartet · 18/02/2026 19:29

Hehe, I was persuaded by the Cyrano enthusiasm too 😀 nice to have that and Operation Mincemeat to look forward to, plus I've booked All My Sons at the cinema.

berlinbaby2025 · 22/02/2026 22:58

Thanks for the tips about getting cheap tickets for west end shows. I had a great time watching High Noon and it seemed slightly bizarre (in a good way) to have paid just £45 to see it and the seat was only five rows from the stage. It was truly the best bargain I've had for many years. I bought the ticket from the officiallondontheatre link that @EnchantingDecoration posted.

I'm back in London the week after Easter and have got my eye on seeing Les Liaisons Dangereuses at the National, which is sold out on the day I can be there, but I'll queue early for a returned ticket and keep checking online before I go for a ticket. I've seen Lesley Manville a few times on stage and she's brilliant.
