What theatre productions are you looking forward to booking for 2026?

My DH and I have started going to the theatre Saturday matinees more regularly now our kids are older teens and we can leave them home alone on Saturday afternoons!!

We have booked Dracula so far as Australian friends have raved about it but wondering what else is coming out that people are excited about?

@C8H10N4O2 I went to see the Story on Saturday, and thought that it was well acted. I was not sure what I was expecting really, but I found myself quite immersed in the first half of the play. The second half, I must admit, I did find some of it, a bit confusing. That is most likely a me problem though! There were some good scenes, and a few laugh out loud moments. I am glad that I saw it. It is a good play, and worth seeing. I think I was expecting it to delve more deeply, into how the press can manipulate the narrative, when some incidents happen, depending on who they happen too. I left thinking, that it was a good play, and not much more. The theatre is lovely, and comfortable, and I have now booked to see The Jungle Book, next year.

Thank you (and to @LollyWillow) - I’m really looking forward to it. I also like the NT as a venue - not least because the legroom is not of Victorian proportions.

That said - clunky staging has been a feature of a few productions I’ve seen there this year. Perhaps they lost key staff from last year but its a recurring theme this year.

Saw Tartuffe last night - brilliant! I'd never been to the Marylebone Theatre; it's very lovely. Already booked their next show - Speculations with Janie Dee.

It took half an hour for 2 relatively intelligent people (me and DH) to book seats for the 2 halves of Middlemarch - had to cancel half way through as we realised we'd booked to see them in the wrong order... We've ended up with gallery seats for the Part 1 matinee and then plush spendy ones for the Part 2 evening show. Now just need to book tea somewhere in between!

I’m envious - I’d hoped to see this but couldn’t make dates/times align.

I’ve never been to that theatre, what was your opinion of the rake/view for the seats further back? (for future reference - on Seat Plan it was hard to form a clear idea).

We were in last but one row and had good view - once tall DH and shortarse me had swapped seats due to ridiculously tall bloke in row in front! The stage is quite high - 5 or 6 steps up.

I have just booked Punch at Chichester for February, never been there before.

I've seen some amazing AmDram stuff recently. I saw a production of Come from Away which was incredible. Lots of AmDram groups are doing it at the moment(I suspect the amateur rights have recently come out); if there's a production near you, I I highly recommend it.

I've also seen__ a brilliant version of Into the Woods. Really intimate studio production that was a lot less spendy than going in to London to see it!

Yes I have heard good things. Been waiting quite a while for booking to open up. Seems to be selling fairly quickly as a lot gone when I booked yesterday - if can only have opened a few days ago max.

How The Other Half Loves at the Old Vic was very well done. The ratcheting up of the double dinner parties was brilliant. John Cleese was in the audience and he clearly enjoyed it. Allam and Atkinson were a brilliant pairing. I was a child in the 70s and remember those awful, hideous clothes and the stereotyping, even if it passed me by at the time. Not sure a young audience would like it much.

I'm Gen Z & loved it. I do know a lot of 70s comedy via my mother, though, so it felt familiar to me.

I also want to book The Children at the Lyric as they have £10 tickets currently with code POTXLYRIC on all tickets categories from B and below (according to an email I have had)

Martin Guerre at the old Vic has had to cancel some performances due to a gas leak in waterloo. Had to swap my ticket for later in the run.

Have also just booked for the Don Black concert series.
