What theatre productions are you looking forward to booking for 2026?

My DH and I have started going to the theatre Saturday matinees more regularly now our kids are older teens and we can leave them home alone on Saturday afternoons!!

We have booked Dracula so far as Australian friends have raved about it but wondering what else is coming out that people are excited about?

@AndresyFiorella oh gosh I had erased that from my memory! It really was truly terrible. Poor Brie Larson having to do all that stupid screaming every time she said a certain word (was it “no”?) and the messing around with a microphone. Awful.

For me it's a toss up between that and When we have sufficiently tortured each other with Cate Blanchett. We suspected that there was no interval in that to avoid everyone leaving....

Oooh, will you report back? DH and I are making a rare trip to London during the run. I'm not a massive fan of Ayckbourn, but I am a big fan of Roger Allam so I'm quite tempted. Might be a hard sell for DH though!

Very excited to have tickets for No Man’s Land at the Donmar with Simon Russell Beale and Rupert Everett

I saw Beetlejuice with DD13 and DD10 on Monday. Very funny, excellent songs, more “heart” than the movie (though the plot is still basically nonsense). A technical hitch meant the second act had to restart but we had a lovely time.

Ruder than I realised though. DD10 got to experience some F-bombs, much to her delight.

Any one in Scotland or indeed anyone anywhere in Europe go and see A History of Paper at Pitlochry Festival Theatre. It is probably one of the most beautiful tender things you will ever see. Alan Cumming and Shirley Henderson who have known each other since they were in their 20s. There is a bit of rehearsal of the opening here which gives you a sense of how wonderful it its:

It is about love and loss so likely to have less impact for the very youthful if untouched by such things but it is amazing theatre. Really special. It's easier to get to than you think just not fast - direct trains from King's Cross and the theatre is a 10 minute walk from the station.

I was surprised at how rude Beetlejuice was too. Loved it's energy and humour though.
