What theatre productions are you looking forward to booking for 2026?

My DH and I have started going to the theatre Saturday matinees more regularly now our kids are older teens and we can leave them home alone on Saturday afternoons!!

We have booked Dracula so far as Australian friends have raved about it but wondering what else is coming out that people are excited about?

@AndresyFiorella oh gosh I had erased that from my memory! It really was truly terrible. Poor Brie Larson having to do all that stupid screaming every time she said a certain word (was it “no”?) and the messing around with a microphone. Awful.

For me it's a toss up between that and When we have sufficiently tortured each other with Cate Blanchett. We suspected that there was no interval in that to avoid everyone leaving....

Oooh, will you report back? DH and I are making a rare trip to London during the run. I'm not a massive fan of Ayckbourn, but I am a big fan of Roger Allam so I'm quite tempted. Might be a hard sell for DH though!

Very excited to have tickets for No Man’s Land at the Donmar with Simon Russell Beale and Rupert Everett

I saw Beetlejuice with DD13 and DD10 on Monday. Very funny, excellent songs, more “heart” than the movie (though the plot is still basically nonsense). A technical hitch meant the second act had to restart but we had a lovely time.

Ruder than I realised though. DD10 got to experience some F-bombs, much to her delight.

Any one in Scotland or indeed anyone anywhere in Europe go and see A History of Paper at Pitlochry Festival Theatre. It is probably one of the most beautiful tender things you will ever see. Alan Cumming and Shirley Henderson who have known each other since they were in their 20s. There is a bit of rehearsal of the opening here which gives you a sense of how wonderful it its:

It is about love and loss so likely to have less impact for the very youthful if untouched by such things but it is amazing theatre. Really special. It's easier to get to than you think just not fast - direct trains from King's Cross and the theatre is a 10 minute walk from the station.

I was surprised at how rude Beetlejuice was too. Loved it's energy and humour though.

I went to see How The Other Half Loves tonight at the Old Vic. Mainly because I love Roger Allam.

Sadly I did not enjoy it. It was a farce, which isn’t really my thing, but most of it, I just didn’t find funny. However, I was clearly in the minority and most of the audience (including DH) seemed to love it.

Roger Allam and Dorothy Atkinson were very good.

Just got back from “Jesus Chris Superstar’ in London. What an incredible production. Especially Sam Ryder, ‘Judas’ and the lead dancer. Lots of standing ovations throughout. I admit, I did struggle to follow the storyline at times, and the whole production is sang (so no spoken word) but still really enjoyed the show. Plus Michael Ball was in the audience.

I’ve got tickets for October, looking forward to it 😊

Well I loved it! Amazing acting and comic timing and very funny.. despite seeing it on the same night as the alarms going off on everyone’s phones

Did anyone see Cynthia Erivo's Dracula earlier in the year? Mixed reviews but I loved it. I have tickets to see Hamlet set to Radiohead's music in November, can't wait. Took DS to see Paddington recently, we both seriously enjoyed it, although he preferred Hercules!

I saw this just recently and loved it. I agree with pp that Allam and Atkinson were excellent but the timing of the whole cast was good.

It may take me some time to recover from the sight of Allam parading around in his Y fronts with old style vest tucked in - they certainly recreating the 70s fashions 😀

I lucked out with a cheap random matinee ticket in the good seats a few weeks back and it was even better than I’d expected - after all Ryder is not a trained actor for eight performances a week. I have tickets for next week (was to have been the last week) with Julian Clary as Herod - I’m really looking forward to seeing it again.

I see the extension is going to have Simon Russell Beale for a week in the Herod role, I’d be intrigued to see that but there are too many other shows I want to see.

How The Other Half Loves at the Old Vic was very well done. The ratcheting up of the double dinner parties was brilliant. John Cleese was in the audience and he clearly enjoyed it. Allam and Atkinson were a brilliant pairing. I was a child in the 70s and remember those awful, hideous clothes and the stereotyping, even if it passed me by at the time. Not sure a young audience would like it much.

I think that was the highlight for me.

I finally made it to Cabaret a few weeks back. It's one of my favourite shows ever and I was quite nervous as I've seen some versions I've hated. I needn't have worried; it was amazing! The way they set up the whole theatre as the club is brilliantly done. Got a cheap single ticket high up but view was still amazing. Highly recommended!

When my DCs were at school I went to one of the school productions and the girl in the lead role blew the rest of them away, she went off to theatre school and I started following her on IG, she has just announced she is joining the cast of Cabaret, so I'd like to go and see her.

I’ve booked Singing in the Rain.
Never seen it before.
I also have tickets for Northern Ballets Wuthering Heights.

Just seen The Truth - with DP - who has cheated on me in the past… so i can understand why it is a funny play and well written, and it is a vaudeville, but for me personally it wasnt much fun… Granted, i should really read what the play is about begore i book it…. Two different friends told me it was good fun and “current”. here as well reviews were positive. I booked it blindly. I would have preferred to go with a friend and not with DP!!
is “how the other half loves” also about cheating? I was thinking of booking that… maybe i’ll do my research first… 🙄
