My DH and I have started going to the theatre Saturday matinees more regularly now our kids are older teens and we can leave them home alone on Saturday afternoons!!

We have booked Dracula so far as Australian friends have raved about it but wondering what else is coming out that people are excited about?

Don’t know if anyone has seen the Hamilton news. Leslie Odom Jr is in Hamilton for a limited run over the summer.

Oooh no, I hadn't.

whatohwhattodo · 06/03/2026 22:44

@tumbletoastmy daughters both want to go and see it again. I think I will register for the sale but expecting prices to be too high.

JennyWreny · 12/03/2026 12:01

Now booked -

Hamilton with Leslie Odom Jr - very excited about this
Inter Alia
War Horse
Abba Voyage

I'm still looking for Paddington tickets. Does anyone have any idea how long the original cast are likely to be in it. I am looking at dates in Nov and realised that's over a year since it started so maybe some original cast will have left by then.

yorkshiretoffee · 12/03/2026 14:08

Hamilton with Leslie Odom Jr - can't wait!

lifeturnsonadime · 12/03/2026 16:54

Darn it I don't have a pre-sale code for Hamilton with Leslie Odom Jr and can't get one : (

JennyWreny · 12/03/2026 21:05

@lifeturnsonadime There's not many seats left at the moment - just expensive ones. Mostly £250 or more apart from a few single cheaper ones on a few dates. Maybe they will release some more seats for the public sale tomorrow - I think they sometimes do that. Hope you manage to get some.

If you’re prepared to pay £250 per ticket you can have mine.

distinctpossibility · 13/03/2026 06:29

I got Hamilton tickets yesterday - £200 each and frankly I was willing to pay more if needed. There were £200-£300 tickets left for every date I looked at last night with my presale code.

We have
Dracula
Jesus Christ Superstar
Harry Styles (lol)
Hamilton
Inter alia

Booked for this year

Comefromaway · 13/03/2026 07:31

I paid £200 per ticket when they originally went on sale. It was worth it but not sure I’d pay it again for four of us.

It was the Leslie Odom Jr factor for us. We have been 3 times and sat in much cheaper seats which were still great. If Leslie wasn't a factor then £30 nosebleeds are fine (and let you see the amazing staging really well)

Comefromaway · 13/03/2026 07:47

My husband has severe vertigo & Ménière’s disease so nosebleeds are unfortunately never an option.

Giles Terrera was fantastic, in fact I’d say he’s my ultimate Burr so I’m not that fussed about seeing Leslie. I would like to see the show again though as in the front stalls we missed some of the effects

distinctpossibility · 13/03/2026 08:37

100%. Looking up at the show vs looking down on it are such different experiences

rumtumtuggeris · 13/03/2026 18:09

For the Hamilton fans, last year the Museum of Broadway had a really interesting exhibit about the work of David Korins who designed Hamilton. This is a short bit where you can see some of the exhibit and him talking about designing Hamilton. You can get a flavour of it here.

Is anyone planning on seeing Middlemarch at the RSC? If so, are you doing both parts on one day or split across a couple of days?

We are doing the full day! We did Forsyth saga over 2 days which also worked well, so not sure there is much in it, other than another night in a hotel if not local.

You're quite right - probably much of a muchness.

Although it is a shame it's on in winter; I'd enjoy the mooching around between shows more in the summer, I reckon.

Florencesndzebedee · 19/03/2026 20:24

Thought Into The Woods was good. The set was great and I’m a big Sondheim music fan. I didn’t enjoy it as much as some things I’ve seen recently though.

Undergroundovergroundwomblingfree · 19/03/2026 21:39

Just booked Teeth n Smiles for myself and my daughter. We saw Self Esteem as a support act for Blur so looking forward to seeing her take this on. Initial reviews look good.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 22/03/2026 14:39

Very keen to book Ride the Cyclone again for the summer now it's getting another run, but it means a trip to London for that as it's in Southwark.

There are other shows I'd like to see too like Beetlejuice, Hades Town and a few other things.

Saw Barnum last night. Lee Mead was very good and the musical instrument ability of the cast was astonishing.

The actual musical is a bit… shit.

You’re not the first mixed review I’ve heard about Barnum. I loved it back in the 80s with Michael Crawford.

Are people expecting The Greatest Showman instead of Barnum? (Not saying you are).

Glad you liked Lee Mead. He’s a very talented performer.

I definitely wasn't expecting The Greatest Showman. I knew a couple of songs from Barnum, but I think I expected a bit more heart - or, failing that, some astonishing circus feats. There were some impressive acrobatics, but not anything you wouldn't see at an actual circus. My children struggled to follow the narrative.

I feel perhaps it's a musical that didn't need a revival.

Is anyone planning to book KST in The Cherry Orchard at the Harold Pinter?

Not strictly 2026, but I’ve just booked tickets for Wuthering Heights ballet, which is touring next year.
