Sentencing tomorrow!

Please do not judge, I'm going to court tomorrow to be sentenced. I have plead guilty to 3 x fraud by misrepresentation.

2 years ago, I was working for a sex chat website and took money from 3 different men and went on to talk to them away from the website. I know I did wrong.

I'm so nervous I have a 5 year old little girl, I've never been in trouble before but can't help think I'm going to prison! What will I do! Does anyone know what I should be packing? Maybe the wrong site for this but I am going to be awake all night...

Has your lawyer not given you an indication of sentencing?
There’s a thread in the crime section about what to take to prison, it was very informative

I’m sorry I have no further information, but Flowers

This was the thread op

Praying mum, were these frauds your first offences and is it the chat line administrators who want you prosecuted? Also how much did you take?

I have a feeling you will be given probation or a suspended sentence. Prisons are for far more serious crimes than what you have done. You have a young child and can explain how hard up you were.

Take some toiletries and toilet rolls just in case but I do believe you'll be back here tomorrow.

Good luck Flowers.

Thank you for the thread I'll look over now,

My solicitor has advised he thinks probably suspended but can't guarantee. I understand why.

One of the men reported it to the police when his wife found out from that they took my mobile and bank statements and came across the other two men. I have been fully cooperative since initially arrested in 2018.

I know what I did was wrong if I could go back I would.

In total it's for £15000 as one man was over a long time. I know it's horrific I'm ashamed in myself at the time I was so low and struggling financially it literally paid my bills that's it. I didn't have treats or anything

Hope it goes well for you OP

Pixxie7 · 16/01/2020 06:55

The prisons are full it’s your first offence, unlikely to be custodial more likely a suspended with community service. Try not to worry.

drinkingwineoutofamug · 16/01/2020 06:59

Hi OP , the 'what to take to prison' thread was started by me. My stupid daughter . Not an expert

Anyway, I very much doubt you will go to prison. At the end of the day £15k is nothing. People get let of with a suspended sentence for a lot more. So you will possibly get suspended with a fine. Usually court cost and victim surcharge.

Keep calm when in court, be truthful. Has there been any pre sentencing report done?

Sorry it may be done differently for adults as daughter was a young offender.

I wish you all the best today. Be strong and come back later to let us know how you got on.

Fifteenthnamechange · 16/01/2020 07:17

Good luck. I'm hope u don't go to prison & are able to let us know what your sentence was later on Thanks

Northernsoullover · 16/01/2020 07:20

Fingers crossed. I hope suspended too.

pollyhampton · 16/01/2020 07:21

I'm struggling to see why what you did was classed as fraud but I really hope today goes well. I hope you'll be back to update later. Do you have any support regarding your daughter?

Sleepthiefismyfavourite · 16/01/2020 07:23

I really hope you get suspended sentence too, please let us know how you get on Flowers

londonmarathonhalfwaypoint · 16/01/2020 07:23

Good luck today op x

buckeejit · 16/01/2020 07:25

Good luck OP x

Atalune · 16/01/2020 07:26

Good luck.

OldTownRoadHome · 16/01/2020 07:29

Good luck today, I too am struggling to see how you committed fraud? These men gave their money willingly to a sex chat worker, on the website or not that’s still free choice?

Unbelievable men taking advantage of a woman who clearly wouldn’t be choosing to sex talk strangers if she wasn’t vulnerable, and the woman gets a criminal record! Yet men beat and rape women and don’t even get charged.

So fucked up. I hope you walk away today op x

userxx · 16/01/2020 07:34

I fail to see what you did wrong too. These men willingly gave you money. Good luck today op.

Clevererthanyou · 16/01/2020 07:43

I too cannot see what you did wrong and I hope you walk away free today. Keep your head up op Brew

Knitwit99 · 16/01/2020 07:43

I guess it's because she took the money directly and not through the website so they didn't get their cut.

I hope you get on ok today op. Is it this morning, do you have long to wait?

FloraGreysteel · 16/01/2020 07:51

Good luck today, OP Thanks

2018SoFarSoGreat · 16/01/2020 07:51

Best of luck today. I hope you find some leniency.

HeronLanyon · 16/01/2020 07:53

Good luck op. You can’t mix suspended with community service (community with unpaid work requirement). Can see quite a bit to say in mitigation leading to suspended. If you do receive short custodial sentence remember you would serve half of whatever is said in court (unless something unusual happens) and also your barrister would advise as to whether there are grounds to appeal.
Really hope it goes well. Stay calm. Make sure you’ve told your barrister everything you can think of as to how custody would affect you and your ability to keep family together and ‘rehabilitate yourself’.

GaaaaarlicBread · 16/01/2020 07:56

So sorry OP. I don’t have any advise but didn’t want to read and run. I believe we’ll see you back here later today . Good luck and remember, people have done far worse and got off well. You’ve recognised you’ve done wrong and are very sorry. More than a lot of people . I had a friend in school who’s sister robbed a bank with a gang, hundreds of thousands, but got let off as she pleaded she needed the money and got in with the wrong crowd! .
She was 18 and had a child, I think we are so short on spaces in prisons they will class this as very minor and you’ll have community service or something 🌷💕

mummymayhem18 · 16/01/2020 08:01

Good luck today 🤞☺️

QuantumGirl · 16/01/2020 08:06

wheresmymojo · 16/01/2020 08:11
