Will be brief, daughter due to be sent down. Any one have a clue what to pack? Do we pack a bag? I've looked on line and it's a bit vague . Any help greatly appreciated.

@drinkswineoutofamug I have only
Just come across this thread, but have RTFT now and I just wanted to say that I think you have coped with this brilliantly in the circumstances, your daughter is a very lucky girl to have such a wonderful mum. I hope that you and your family can all move forward together now Flowers

youarenotkiddingme · 09/04/2017 10:45

Have a good visit.

Not long now and you'll have her home again.

How's her epilepsy ATM?

Mc180768 · 09/04/2017 14:40

I work with women leaving prison. We accommodate women as they are all too often excluded from mainstream housing options.

OP- your daughter is lucky she has you supporting her. It's a known fact that family support is a strong precursor for rehabilitation.

Having read your original post, I hope your daughter is on the road home now and her health has been stabilised while behind the gate. Health in prisons is something I have campaigned for as it's often not as robust as the MoJ mouth propagate.

I think you've been incredibly brave and supportive of your daughter and hope she's able to come to terms with what's happened to her. Prison can be traumatic for many women.

Warm wishes.

How did the visit go, Drinks? I guess it will feel like an age before your DD steps through the gates.

drinkswineoutofamug · 09/04/2017 16:52

Thank you all. It's 10 days to go. The visit went well. She's finished her maths course now and works in the laundry. She's met someone who works for the probation service. They have gone through what she needs to do on the outside. Jobs etc. She says the days are beginning to drag now and she's worrying about how she will cope outside. Told her she will be fine as she will have me.
Her epilepsy is now better controlled now she has the correct meds at the correct dosage which is a relief.
I just need to clear her room, ironing, towels, bedding, storage boxes .......
I'm just ticking off the days on the calendar

Managed to get one more visit . Thought we had used them all up. Room is ready, fresh bedding etc . Spoken to her PA . I'm just praying she doesn't cause any problems for the next 9-12 months or she will be recalled and don't think my nerves could take it

Flowers you're amazing! And this is an amazing thread. Good news about the visit.

youarenotkiddingme · 11/04/2017 10:23

Yay for extra visit and sensible staff realising it's important.

drinkswineoutofamug · 11/04/2017 11:24

I'm rushing home to get my decorating finished etc, get my uni work finished, and take down her dusty curtains for washing . Amazing when you leave the door shut for 3 months the dust that gathers . I'm praying this all turns out well and that this thread gives hope to other people in my situation.

Drinks, you really have been amazing. This is such a tough situation and the way you've coped has been inspiring.

I'm glad to hear your DD has finished her maths course and her epilepsy is more under control. Hopefully your DD will be able to take this temporarily crappy situation and turn it into her turning point.

FortyFacedFuckers · 17/04/2017 00:49

I have been reading this thread from the start but I had nothing helpful to add but just wanted to say how amazing you are and I hope things settle for you and your dd now.

drinkswineoutofamug · 17/04/2017 09:18

Thank you forty , got my last visit today . Release day on Wednesday 😬 . I'm looking forward to having her home but also apprehensive at the same time. The ball will be in her court to sort her shit out.
Don't know what time she does get released find out more today maybe ? Maybe they don't tell you until that day? Can't say I'm going to miss my weekly pat downs!

MaryPoppinsPenguins · 17/04/2017 09:25

You've been an amazing mother...

Mc180768 · 17/04/2017 09:52

Drinks, ..

Release time is early am. 9am ish unless there is an incident where there is a lock down.

Good luck with your DD & for her? 95% of the work has to come from within. I know. I'm an ex offender.

Your DD has everything she needs now including a wonderful mum, I too had my wonderful mum whom stood by me.

Your DD has paid her price. She now has the tools to flourish with some new experiences behind her.

The very best to you both.

Omg theres so many of you and it would be a long post! I thank you all from the bottom of my heart ( very un mumsnet) these past few months have been really hard. You guys have been with me every step of the way. From the start where I asked just simple advice, through her arrest, remand, court, you get the gist.
You have talked me down off the ceiling, supported me, stuck up for me and apart from one , never judged.
Your support has meant so much, knowing that I could come here and rant and someone would be there for me.
GinWineCakeFlowers
For you all.
Thank you .
