8 teenagers in one car that crashed

So they were driving the wrong way on a motorway and crashed in to a single driver. At 5.30am. Apparently the car was stolen. I'm seeing photos on tiktok and they look to be very young.

Where the hell are the parents in this?! I'm seeing tiktoks where the families of these 8 boys are asking for prayers, etc. I wonder if they feel any shame at all?! Or is that an emotion they are unfamiliar with.

I think these parents need to be held accountable in some way... My sympathy lies entirely with the driver of the other car.

Once upon a time we were a country with Christian morals taught at home and in school and yes there were failings but for the most part having something in law was enough as the citizens respected and lived by the laws of the country and the church.

Then somehow the narrative grew that christian church involvement at any level was a bad thing, it did nothing good ever for society, was holding us back and everything about it had to be cast off so we could live wonderful lives without it. So now everyone is an individual, where parents might not instill moral responsibility school doesn't either and the gardai arent there for law enforcement (unless its a weekend blitz for social media). So you can have as many laws as you want but the vacuum is where these scrotes come from and their number is increasing.

If these kids had been raised with a healthy fear of authority their lives would have been very different.

LiteralNightmare · 16/08/2026 22:49

I live near an N road and every night without fail you can hear cars screaming past, I don't hear the normal traffic but these wake me. I would hate to have to go on it from 1-3am.

I was a brat of a teenager and would have willingly got in to a car like these kids did. We need to stop them being able to. Prosecute parents/lockboxes for keys/hire more Gardaí, I don't know, we just need to do it all.

Livingthebestlife · 17/08/2026 00:24

I'm actually shocked reading the comments on FB from the families of 3 of the kids. There's absolutely no sympathy for the innocent people, they never once amongst all their fake prayers offer hope to those who are critical. All comments saying how nice, kind, loving, caring, bullshit bullshit bullshit their son, cousin, brother was and how they'll get the best bed in heaven and putting up pictures of them in balaclavas, cars drinking, horse and trap races on busy roads and some family saying cars can be replaced be careful boys with a pic of them all in balaclavas ! Dd has tictoc and said there's videos going back years of them robbing and racing cars. I've absolutely no sympathy for any of them. My prayers are with the 7 year old little girl and the 3 women who are critical.

Do you mean comprehension?

I understand very well thank you. That comment was made in relation to the 8 teenagers who survived a similar crash last week. Their parents will see them again. I hope their parents will take the time to teach their children right from wrong. I hope their parents will ensure that their children are at home at 3am, 4am, 5am, etc. I sincerely hope that their parents will actually step up and parent their children.

These teenagers are stealing cars, driving recklessly for fun and crashing on public roads without any regard for the safety of anyone unfortunate enough to cross their paths. My sympathy only extends to those who are driving legally and to all the emergency services and medical staff who deal with the aftermath.

I meant Compassion.
I apologise, I misunderstood your post.

How was it not your fault? If your son was raised to respect you and understand the consequences of his (or his friends’) actions he would have woken you up long before the police were at your door.

Hmmm, do you live in the real world with real boys? Or girls even. Come to think of it me and my friends did something similar just wandered about and went home again.

You know absolutely nothing about the circumstances that resulted in this.

Shame on you.

Pray tell?

Well if those kids need prison level security not to climb out the window in the night, then they’re the ones raised without respect or understanding consequences. That mum should have been angry with herself. If my kids did something like that I’d be mortified. Did you expect PP to sleep in the room with them in case they were planning to escape?

Freysimo · 17/08/2026 07:36

I believe the boys were from the "Irish travelling community" so I expect parental guidance will have been minimal. Yes, I'm judging. How on earth did this group obtain protected status? If Ireland is anything like the UK, the police seem helpless to do anything.

Ahh.

ApologiseAndJustify · 17/08/2026 07:59

Isn't referral to the ombudsman wonderful in cases like this. As soon as its announced its referred theres silence. No one can comment in official circles in case it jeopardises the investigation and then poof its gone and the outrage can die down.

Apparently they were all wearing balaclavas. Must have been cold in dublin that night as they are innocent little kids who are also victims.

DragonsFurry · 17/08/2026 08:07

There is a small percentage of numbskull teenagers getting themselves caught up in some really idiotic things via social media. It's a hard-nut popularity contest for likes.

A result of poor parenting and lack of boundaries. Let's face it, kids who have been reasonably well parented are way less likely to get caught up in that kind of thing.

Yes, many teenagers do stupid things but this is completely beyond reason.

I feel very little empathy for the boys in that car and their families...they clearly didn't give a shit about anyone else that night.

Comprehension is what you are sorely missing.

Mesk · 17/08/2026 08:24

The father of one of the teens is reportedly in jail, they are the next generation following in family tradition. Gurriers.

I have a huge amount of compassion for the other drivers who get caught up in these reckless accidents. I feel for all the emergency services who have to go to that terrible scene. I am sorry for all the medical staff who have to treat the patients and the bodies resulting from this awful event.

I have no sympathy or compassion for the teenage boys who robbed the car and drove it too fast the wrong way down a road...not giving a damn about what other cars they might come across.

They made the decision to drive the wrong way at high speed on a motorway! Zero regard for anybody else's life! Zero compassion here too.

ViciousCurrentBun · 17/08/2026 08:37

Teens can make some questionable choices but stealing cars, that’s not normal teen behaviour however sad it may be when people have severe injuries or lose their lives.

I actually know someone with traveller heritage, she is really quite vocal about behaviour of that community when it’s bad as it makes her feel really uncomfortable as she is from that background, I know her Grandparents still go to the Appleby horse fair every year.

Rondayvu · 17/08/2026 08:40

The fb posts from all the travelling community with their 'Hope you get the best bed in heaven' posts and not one thing about the actual victims who were in the other car shows exactly why this minority group are disliked. They have zero compassion for anyone outside themselves and zero comprehension it seems as to why 5 of their finest are all dead having brought it on themselves. The driver is the one from last weeks episode too so he clearly did not learn his lesson the first time and has now paid the ultimate price.

The driver was one of the 8 from last week?

Another one of the 5, maybe the same one, was involved in a similar incident in July where a motorcyclist was seriously injured after they crashed a stolen pickup truck. www.thejournal.ie/four-teenagers-arrested-after-stolen-pickup-truck-they-were-driving-crashed-into-motorcyclist-7095980-Jul2026/

Rondayvu · 17/08/2026 08:53

Yes apparently the driver from the crash with 8 of them is the same one from the other night. Their names and faces have been plastered all over social media by members of the travelling community themselves and are receiving backlash but absolutely deaf towards it all. Mental carry on. All this shite about how they were the gentlest souls - gentle souls DO NOT go out stealing cars and then driving around for internet likes knowing there is a high chance innocent people can get hurt.

ApologiseAndJustify · 17/08/2026 08:57

Queue horse drawn carriages and flowers galore and gold coffins and blocked streets as their cortege makes its way to the graveyard and then a kick ass headstone dwarfing everything around it to mark their passing to their eternal reward.

Don’t be so bloody ridiculous with your bizarre rose tinted specs. 🤦🏻‍♀️
The Catholic Church didn’t make it a safe secure place at all.

It was a deeply misogynistic society that failed women and girls very badly and allowed dangerous men to cause deep harm and flourish unhindered. Unfortunately, there are still plenty of families who use the pretence of being regular church goers as a sanctuary to continue their bad deeds. The ongoing hypocrisy and wilful blindness is astounding.

parallolo · 17/08/2026 09:03

Ah, they were member of the sacred caste of Nomads. That won't be mentioned, we have to join the dots ourselves.

Await the gold coffins and the horse drawn hearses followed by a line of sulkys and no doubt a big melee in the graveyard and every hotel and hostelry within miles closed down on the days of the funerals.

Great little country altogether.

lessglittermoremud · 17/08/2026 09:15

The poor driver and family of the other car heading to the airport to go on holiday, I really hope they pull through.
I have boys and I look at my 13 year old and know there is no way on earth he would get in a stolen car, he’s not one to give into peer pressure and has a strong moral code.
Its easy to blame the parents and perhaps they are to blame but equally maybe the kids were sucked into gangs, leaving parents pulling their hair out because what can you actually do to keep a teen at home that is determined to be out pleasing themselves?!
They wouldn’t have got into that car thinking it was the last journey they would ever take and whilst I don’t have much sympathy for them, I have a huge amount of empathy for their families.
Ive always told my Sons that if they are really reckless and stupid, do something that makes them to cease to exist or others, it’s not them that have to deal with the consequences, it destroys the families that are left behind.
It all would have just seemed like a great laugh to the passengers, let’s hope that it has a sobering effect on any others who think it’s a good idea to play such stupid games.

parallolo · 17/08/2026 09:27

Social media platforms must ban accounts that show this content. Make it a law. I am baffled as to why so many things could be done by the lawmakers for the benefit of law abiding citizens but it seems to me that the laws are constantly skewed so as to make OUR lives harder and the scrotes' lives easier.
