8 teenagers in one car that crashed

So they were driving the wrong way on a motorway and crashed in to a single driver. At 5.30am. Apparently the car was stolen. I'm seeing photos on tiktok and they look to be very young.

Where the hell are the parents in this?! I'm seeing tiktoks where the families of these 8 boys are asking for prayers, etc. I wonder if they feel any shame at all?! Or is that an emotion they are unfamiliar with.

I think these parents need to be held accountable in some way... My sympathy lies entirely with the driver of the other car.

Your honour i plead for a non custodial sentence as my client was disadvantaged from birth, parents were addicts, fell in with the wrong crowd, diagnosed with ADHD and depression, never had a chance. Be that one person that recognises society and the states failing of my client.
Those people he crashed into were privileged in a way my client never was as they had jobs and got to go on holidays and paid taxes just not enough taxes to give my client the life he was entitled to. Their suffering even in death should not be apportioned to my client.

That is exactly the mentality sadly.

topcat2014 · 16/08/2026 11:57

We all know these are not "nice" kids who are just a bit loud or sweary.

They will all be known to police and or social services.

Parents won't be much better.

That being said, I hope any injuries are too serious.

Its the same excuse all over the world. The difference in Ireland is that we have 46 youth detention spaces. 40 for boys.

Thats practically a sleep away camp, especially if you are locked up with your gang besties. We need a massive expansion in infrastructure, from prisons to trains to the airport and sewage plants and all the other boring essential stuff the Government doesn't care for.

Wrong way on the motorway in the early hours of the morning so innocent driver probably doing the limit 120kph, scrotes probably doing more, so at a guess additive speed of a head on >240kph. Miracle if those young women and the child escape death or life changing injury.

Last nights are all dead from the car going the wrong way.

I'm guessing TikTok has no censorship filter to ban this kind of stuff, well it gets clicks and views obviously. I presume they filter out child pornography and the like, so why not lawlessness....

Fromhere1 · 16/08/2026 12:32

This mornings story is so similar to last weeks. It's awful.

My sympathy to the three women and child who were on the way to the airport. I hope they can make good recovery.

Brenda Power describes the sort of people who steal cars and drive the wrong way on motorways as 'untamed' and 'coldly amoral'. I agree with her completely. These sort of people know all about their rights but take no responsibility and don't think that the normal rules of society apply to them...we can make all the rules and laws we like but these sort of people don't care.

That is of course horrific. I remember reading (when DD was a few years younger) that the biggest cause of death for a teenage girl was a teenage boy driving.

Maybe the state needs to intervene more rather than less in young peoples lives.

Intervention in their parents' lives would be more productive. There's a reason why most teenagers in the country do NOT engage in this kind of criminality, and that would be how they are raised IMV.

I think we need to be more other countries with new drivers. They have restrictions of driving in dark, power of car etc. I think it's called 'graduated licenses'.
However, none of this works when people are stealing cars, driving illegally or under age etc.

Once upon a time we were a country with Christian morals taught at home and in school and yes there were failings but for the most part having something in law was enough as the citizens respected and lived by the laws of the country and the church.

Then somehow the narrative grew that christian church involvement at any level was a bad thing, it did nothing good ever for society, was holding us back and everything about it had to be cast off so we could live wonderful lives without it. So now everyone is an individual, where parents might not instill moral responsibility school doesn't either and the gardai arent there for law enforcement (unless its a weekend blitz for social media). So you can have as many laws as you want but the vacuum is where these scrotes come from and their number is increasing.

Re-open Spike Island or similar. Anyone remember the time joy riders were all sent there. It's a tourist attraction now ironically.

During the week I watched the first episode of Martin and Roman Kemp in Ireland on tv.

They visited Spike Island and as I watched it I thought it was very short sighted of the Government to close it as a prison.
As short sighted as the decision in 2012/2013, to shut so many police stations , by Alan Shatter the Minister for Justice at the time, to save money following the financial crash.
There were other, better ways to save money than this.
The country has gone to hell. 😢

A few months ago we were heading back to Dublin. Passed two poor horses being tortured by a certain demographic and then a jeep passed us going at speed going the wrong way down a slip road coming onto a motorway. Luckily no one was injured or worse that day. This was in heavy traffic on a Sunday evening. Many moons ago I looked after a 14 year old male teenager who was joyriding one night, when I was a student nurse in the 90s so nothing has changed. If anything it’s gotten worse. The poor innocent victims is who I feel sorry for. And I have always thought it should be called something else like death riding or looking to cause injury riding not joyriding when it is anything but!

I have sympathy only for the innocent people in the cars going the right way. For the others, it’s a matter of natural selection and it seems they are gradually reducing their numbers by killing and injuring themselves. So hopefully the problem will resolve when they’re all dead. Although I’d prefer it if it didn’t involve innocent people in the meantime.

ColadhSamh · 16/08/2026 19:05

5th body found.
Sympathy with those women and child travelling to Dublin airport, presumably going on holiday
All alive but some critical in hospital.
Have watched some tik tok of those in the stolen car. Zero sympathy, based on their behaviour. Some of the comments are nauseating.

DeterminedRat · 16/08/2026 19:10

I feel some kind of sympathy for the 5 lads who died. Some of them have popped up on my tiktok and they look so young, they've been failed along the way by the people who were supposed to be guiding them. Nobody is born a scrote.

At the same time something needs to be done quickly to crack down on this. These kids are posting about robbing a different car every night of the week, posting the Gardaí chasing them, all of their mates laughing and bigging them up in the comments. It's at the point where you'd nearly be afraid to drive on motorways at night for fear of running into one of them(literally).

I don't know what the answer is but I really hope one is found before there are any more innocent victims impacted by this.

parallolo · 16/08/2026 19:28

Surely their actions mean attempted murder. Harsher sentencing than careless/reckless driving anyway. Just a thought and maybe that's the deal I don't know.

Nope no sympathy not even a hint of sympathy for those yokes. Least theres 5 less of them to pose a risk to ordinary law abiding citizens who dont need likes and views on tiktok.
True they weren't born scrotes but thats what they are. The people they crashed into are the only ones deserving sympathy.
It wont stop as theres no consequences.
I travelled M50 not long before last week's crash and realised how close any of us are to life changing injuries due to them and their buddies.

Is there something wrong with your compression, "held responsible"....these parents will never see their children again. Do you understand that?

Rondayvu · 16/08/2026 20:35

I do not have tik tok nor would I know how to use it but facebook has people saying it was a gang of travellers and others saying it was the lads from the other night out a second time and from just a bad area. Has anything been released about them at all?

They are probably minors so little will be revealed apart from their suburbs of residence, which will allow those in the leafy suburbs to sigh with relief that it is "THAT SORT FROM THERE" again as usual. And normal service resumes.

It's like everything else, until the affluent areas are affected, nothing will be resolved.

That post is from a few days ago and was about the crash last week, not this morning's crash where people died. The 8 teenagers in the crash she's referring to survived.

TheCandidPoet · 16/08/2026 21:57

It seems they drive the wrong way up the road because they know the guards aren't allowed to chase them, it being deemed too dangerous to other roadusers. Mad stuff.

Do you mean comprehension?

I understand very well thank you. That comment was made in relation to the 8 teenagers who survived a similar crash last week. Their parents will see them again. I hope their parents will take the time to teach their children right from wrong. I hope their parents will ensure that their children are at home at 3am, 4am, 5am, etc. I sincerely hope that their parents will actually step up and parent their children.

These teenagers are stealing cars, driving recklessly for fun and crashing on public roads without any regard for the safety of anyone unfortunate enough to cross their paths. My sympathy only extends to those who are driving legally and to all the emergency services and medical staff who deal with the aftermath.
