8 teenagers in one car that crashed

So they were driving the wrong way on a motorway and crashed in to a single driver. At 5.30am. Apparently the car was stolen. I'm seeing photos on tiktok and they look to be very young.

Where the hell are the parents in this?! I'm seeing tiktoks where the families of these 8 boys are asking for prayers, etc. I wonder if they feel any shame at all?! Or is that an emotion they are unfamiliar with.

I think these parents need to be held accountable in some way... My sympathy lies entirely with the driver of the other car.

What actual enjoyment does it bring people to go to funerals and fight? I mean, if you're a violent and aggressive person, I'm sure there are countless opportunities for starting fights in the pub or in the street... so why the deliberate association with funerals? Or is it just the way some people like to pay their respects and mark the sad occasion: by smashing somebody's face in and going to prison (or dying themselves) as a result?

The Irish "traveller" community isn't one homogonous mass of similarly minded people, all wanting to get on well together. There are gangs/factions and long running "family" feuds within the overall community. With the addition of some of them being "thugs" with knives, guns, machetes etc. Any kind of big gathering has the potential for long running feuds to re-open. It's not really much different to two mothers in law not getting on in a "normal" family so potential for rows etc at say a family christening etc if not kept apart, with the exception that the average mother in law doesn't have a machete down their pants! You also have to remember that violence/aggression is part of the culture with some travellers, i.e. dog fighting, bare knuckle boxing, etc., so "real" fights are often just an extension of the entertainment, often egged on by friends/family etc.

I'd also be concerned that they may end up with their graves getting the Willy Collins treatment - and anybody who dares to protest will be painted as a racist bigot hating a bunch of loveable rogue 'rough diamond' kids.

I've just seen that Willy's two brothers have also since died, and the Disneyworld-style memorial has been expanded even more.

I can only assume that people at Sheffield council may have had members of the family 'strongly advising' them that they shouldn't do anything about removing it. When you think about how eager most councils are to jump on the most minor breach of the strict regulations surrounding anything that they control, allowing this to remain in place for years just beggars belief.

Thanks, I suppose I sort of see their 'thinking'. So is it done deliberately, then: for a rival group to deliberately choose a funeral to exact their revenge, knowing that it will cause the maximum hurt to the family of their enemy at such a sad time?

Yes, but that's "two tier" laws/rules in action. A "normal" person gets the full weight of laws/regulations thrown at them, but "special" groups/communities can basically do as they wish.

It was the same back in the 80s when I was in the police. We were told in no uncertain terms NOT to try to deal with our local Irish travelling community except for the most serious of offences (i.e. basically GBH and murder) and even then we had to obtain clearance from a senior officer before we approached a traveller or went onto their site. So basically, we had to ignore anything "minor", i.e. assaults, drunkeness, motoring offences, burglaries etc (even if caught red handed). It was utterly insane back then and doesn't seem to have changed.

When I joined, I'm sure the oath was "without fear nor favour". My arse! The police were afraid of the travelling community and gave them no end of "favours" in terms of letting them get away with things than "normal" people would have been arrested/reported for.

Abhannmor · Yesterday 10:39

Well , @ParsleySageToiletDuckAndBinBags with such a mobile community a funeral , wedding , christening might be the only time feuding groups meet up for extended periods of time?
On the graveyard memorial thing , I remember a case recently where a family wanted an Irish blessing - ' ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam dílis ' I'm guessing - for their mother but the council opposed it . Somewhere in England. Can't remember the outcome now.

When the first photographic images appeared on tombstones I remember my Nan saying ' now that's very common!' I think they are quite sweet , usually. She didn't live to see the Disneyesque creations . She might have insisted on being buried somewhere else lol.

What do people mean do you have teenagers to some of the posters on here?

I don’t know about anyone else but stealing cars and joyriding never occurred to me and was never regarded as normal teenage behaviour.

I hope they all go through the courts and get criminal records- this will severely impact their job prospects.. once they’ve grown up.

SinisterBumFacedCat · Yesterday 11:04

I have teenagers, I’ve been a teenager, arguably it’s worse for 99.9% of teenagers who have to put up with people like this because they a stuck in school with them and have to endure inevitable bullying from them. We’ve all done reckless and irresponsible stuff as teenagers, but throwing up in a park after too much alcohol is not the same as stealing a car and driving it deliberately the wrong way on a motorway.

They probably won't be applying for "normal" jobs so a criminal record won't bother them. A huge proportion work within their community and "self employment" is the norm for them, so they get "jobs" from family/friends or start up their own self employments - look at the sheer number of tradesmen vans when you see pictures of travellers' camps.

Nail on the head. At least "normal" teenagers know they're doing wrong with minor misdemeanors and often the consequences are minimal or don't impact other people. "Normal" teens don't go around stealing cars, joy-riding, and playing chicken on the wrong side of a motorway. As you say, getting drunk in a park is simply not comparable to maiming and killing people when joy-riding especially when doing something stupidly dangerous like deliberately driving on the wrong side of a motorway!

Only two out of the five boys were travellers. I don’t know why the travellers are claiming this gang. The gang consists of about 60 youths, from working class areas, whose parents were aware of their antics. At least 2/3 of the youths involved are not travelling people, just local thugs or neglected children dragged up.

The driver was Polish. He was in the care of the state.

SM has some part in it but for over two years those boys have been out robbing anything that moves. They use WiFi blockers approaching your home. They were in DH car last week, doorbell didn’t pick them up, they stole aftershave. The car was left open, that’s why they’re called the lucky dip gang. They’ll take bikes, plant pots, your car.

The Garda know who they are but they wear face coverings, they could have, should have, put surveillance on this months ago.

The Garda didn’t use the emergency system to alert other motorists, those lunatics were on that road for 20 minutes before they hit that innocent family.

They have a large fan group of younger lads waiting to join. I’d sadly like to believe that this is a wake up call, it’s not.

The Garda like every service has been distracted by immigration issues therefore allow these shits to terrorise areas for months, years, them and their copycat fan group.

Not likely as they are all dead.

The driver wasn't Polish. The driver was Jeremy O'Brien. Jack Kennedy had been in the care of the state at some point, I don't know about Kamil Pustkowski.

Not those 8 involved in the first crash, which was the original subject of this thread. They survived the crash.

What does the emergency system involve?
Shutting sections of the motorway?

😂I didn't realise being a thieving conman was classed as a job.

EmeraldShamrock000 · Yesterday 12:30

I thought Kamil Pustkowski was driving. He is Polish, he was in state care too.
He is one of the main leaders widely know for his driving skills in their circle of scum.
He openly mocked people online after they were reporting their car stolen in local community groups, jeering them for their loss. He had been questioned recently for an attempted murder of a motorcyclist and the gang is suspected for a hit and run in June. A cyclist from Malaga, father of 3, dead, hIs body wasn’t discovered for hours.

As in? I don’t usually venture over to craicnet as it is such a sneering judgy little cesspit whenever I pop in. I have been on mumsnet nearly 20 years. Craicnet is full of people who have huge notion’s. Anyway, take care.

There is an alert traffic system. If there is an accident or car search, child missing etc, they could have used that to notify oncoming drivers.

Where are you getting this info?
I thought the 18 year old was driving, this time and the previous week.

There seems to be a lot of conflicting info about, it's hard to find out what is true.

As in you had the driver of the car wrong and are making lots of assertions in your post so you might want to go over it and check that the things you are saying in your posts are true ie facts rather than sharing misinformation like you have by the saying the driver was Kamil Pustkowski.

I'm not sure why not wanting misinformation to be spread about this awful incident is 'sneering', 'judgy' or having 'notions'. Obviously I hit a nerve there somewhere, I apologise for that, it wasn't my intention to make you feel judged or sneered at.

I am not going to open up as to how I know information about this particular gang, and the mindset in the car, the inquest will inform the public. Don’t assume that the paper has it right.
Anyway, it’ll be a few years, the next catastrophe in Ireland before I’m stupid enough to venture over here again.

It's natural that if you have different info to what is available to the public, that people might want to know where you got the info.
But understandable if you know through some personal knowledge and don't want to say.

It surprises me a bit though that the papers would name the wrong driver.

2027 I heard.
I mean there’s AA roadwatch and some local initiatives, but you have to go looking for them.
