8 teenagers in one car that crashed

So they were driving the wrong way on a motorway and crashed in to a single driver. At 5.30am. Apparently the car was stolen. I'm seeing photos on tiktok and they look to be very young.

Where the hell are the parents in this?! I'm seeing tiktoks where the families of these 8 boys are asking for prayers, etc. I wonder if they feel any shame at all?! Or is that an emotion they are unfamiliar with.

I think these parents need to be held accountable in some way... My sympathy lies entirely with the driver of the other car.

You know absolutely nothing about the circumstances that resulted in this.

Shame on you.

They were in a stolen car, wearing balaclavas and had weapons. They were driving fast the wrong way on a motorway as part of a ThickTok challenge. Innocent people have been seriously injured. I'll save my sympathies for other people.

“…..let’s hope that it has a sobering effect on any others who think it’s a good idea to play such stupid games.”
I seriously doubt it @lessglittermoremudif, as reported, one of those killed was also involved in the previous headline grabbing crash on the M50 last week where a car containing 8 teenagers going the wrong way on a ramp hit an innocent motorist who was seriously injured. 😢

I KNOW. Please read the OP and my first reply properly. The OP was asking the parents to be shamed.

Well 5 of them won't be doing it again

That incident didn’t wipe out 5 of themselves though, in their brains they probably still felt invincible.
You would have be so incredibly stupid to survive a crash that has killed 5 friends and continue to joy ride/steal cars.
Hopefully they will be under some sort of supervision from the authorities going forward if they make a full recovery.

The parents absolutely should be shamed and held accountable, but that won’t happen, instead the parents will try to make hero’s out of their gurrier offspring, and god help the nurses and doctors working the local A&E on the day of the funerals.

Social media platforms must ban accounts that show this content. Make it a law. I am baffled as to why so many things could be done by the lawmakers for the benefit of law abiding citizens but it seems to me that the laws are constantly skewed so as to make OUR lives harder and the scrotes' lives easier.

Nail on the head.

Looking at the photos of the aftermath I'm surprised that only 5 died, I feel so sorry for the emergency services having to attend scenes like this and obviously I feel sorry for the passengers and driver of the other vehicle. I wonder if the other 3 passengers will learn a lesson from this but looking at the FB posts they are not likely to do so, more like be treated as martyrs, chased by a police car.

Don’t be so bloody ridiculous with your bizarre rose tinted specs. 🤦🏻‍♀️
The Catholic Church didn’t make it a safe secure place at all.

It was a deeply misogynistic society that failed women and girls very badly and allowed dangerous men to cause deep harm and flourish unhindered. Unfortunately, there are still plenty of families who use the pretence of being regular church goers as a sanctuary to continue their bad deeds. The ongoing hypocrisy and wilful blindness is astounding.

LOL you have misunderstood the point I was making. My point was this sort of entitled free for all crime didnt happen years ago because of the values of family, country and presence of local guard living and working in the area. That's gone so now theres a vacuum and these scrotes know they can do what they want, when they want and other people's things are theirs to take.
PS im not the only one with bizarre rose tinted glasses if you think we now live in a non misogynistic society free from men who cause harm. Different topic but have a look at what the failed referendum last year wanted to do and the stats for murder victims to date this year. Anyhow I'm off to re educate myself on trad wives

honeyrider · 17/08/2026 10:38

Three sisters and the son of one of them on the way to the airport to go to the UK for a family wedding. Innocent victims whose lives have been changed by scumbags.

These are children. Where is your humanity? We can have sympathy for them all.

I disagree. I think we need to quit the weird narrative that anyone under the age of 18 simply doesn’t have any brain cells and should get. away with everything because ‘they’re just kids’.

they’re self entitled little shits who got and will get everything they deserve. They won’t learn from it either, it will just be something funny and another badge they can brag about to their other little shit mates.

I genuinely think we need to start charging children as adults for crimes that have or could have involved the harm of the general public.

Do you have teenagers?

Yep & they all knew the highway code….
you can’t drive on motorway till you’ve passed your test…
& don’t overload the vehicle.

Bloozie · 17/08/2026 10:46

Where is it reported that there were 8 lads in the car?

parallolo · 17/08/2026 10:46

I reckon the police will get the blame for this. Imagine that they are constricted in what they can do and how they can follow and stop these maggots. I realise that's for reasons of public safety etc. but there are methods that can be used like stingers and as we are now in 2026, surely someone somewhere can come up with a jamming device to stop them using their phones. Or something, anything at all?

I am constantly baffled that at the first sign of the police TRYING to apprehend and stop these criminals, they are immediately subject to Fiosru scrutiny. Which of course stops all discourse while an investigation is ongoing. You would think it was all for the benefit of the law abiding citizen, but I have other thoughts. Sinister that criminals get the benefit of the doubt like this, and the Gardai are deemed to be doing something wrong every time. Mad Ted.

I think you’re mixing up two separate incidents. The 8 last week survived, though I think one was reported as critical. The 5 in the later incident at Moone all died.

Bloozie · 17/08/2026 10:46

Where is it reported that there were 8 lads in the car?

It was last week that there were 8 young teenagers in a car that went the wrong way down the motorway, they were escaping the gardai. Yesterday's crash that killed the scumbags is a different crash.

I think the Garda Commissioner was correct not to offer condolences to those that died but instead focused on the innocent victims in hospital and for the gardai and emergency services who had to deal with the scene.

DallasMajor · 17/08/2026 10:53

It has been reported that the driver of the 8 teens in the car is the same as the one driving yesterday.

Out on bail, signing on every day I'm sure.

I know nothing of this incident and so I am reticent to offer any judgement.

But, there is an important point about this ageof kids.

Adolescents are 'hard wired' to take risks. It's a developmental thing. And they find those risks in multiple ways - from inappropriate dressing, hanging out with wrong crowd, drink, drugs, sex, rock n roll...but also positive risks like performing on stage, most sports, trying new activities, solo travel, first date, risky play etc.

On top of that, most cannot make good risk judgements at that age. Thier brain needs to risks and consequences to develop that skill and emotional response.

It's complicated.

Stop making excuses for little cunts ( hate the word but that is what they are) It is adults like you that allow appalling behaviour. No wonder they youngsters know they can do as they please.

Bloozie · 17/08/2026 10:46

Where is it reported that there were 8 lads in the car?

It is two separate incidents.

August 9th, 8 kids driving a stolen car the wrong way down the motorway to avoid the gardai. They crashed into a 20 year old who was seriously injured.

August 16th, 5 balaclava wearing teens killed driving the wrong way on the motorway, crashed into a car with 4 occupants who are seriously injured.

It is being said at least 1, if not 2, of the dead teens, were involved in the crash on August 9th.

JulietteHasAGun · 17/08/2026 10:56

I have no sympathy for the lads in the car at all. I hope the family in the other car recover.

parallolo · 17/08/2026 10:58

Enda Kenny should bow his head in shame. He was the one who made a sacred caste out of these people. And they capitalised on it big time. Untouchable mostly. I don't care if some of them are trying to live decent lives. They stick with their own at the end of the day. I make no apology for saying this. I'd rather be honest than a bleeding heart.

Proving time and time again the majority of them are a scourge on decent society in Ireland.

Cooldani · 17/08/2026 11:06

I wish we could stop this.
It’s hard to have sympathy for the perpetrators but I wish it could have ended differently, that it didn’t take their deaths to stop them. The one who was reported as critical following lasts week’s incident was 13, that is so young. Things have gone very badly wrong.

I am nervous of travelling on the motorway, especially at night now. What is happening recently is terrifying. I hope and pray the family in the other car can recover from this.
The others must be stopped, I don’t know how.

EarthlyNightshade · 17/08/2026 11:06

I could, could have had some sympathy for the boys who were passengers in the first crash. Stupid idiots of course but I would have thought maybe capable of learning a lesson. (The driver not so much.)

Same thing one week later? No sympathy, even if it was not exactly the same kids, they knew what they were doing.
Will anything change now? Two incidents in a small country would make me think twice about using the motorways at very quiet times.
