What’s bioseanh @ColadhSamh?

Is it 'bisneach'? Tá bisneach orm anois, bfhéidir?

FuzzyCaoraDhubh · 21/09/2026 22:07

I wouldn't have a whole load of storage space either for extra things.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 21/09/2026 22:53

If we do end up in another pandemic type situation, I wonder how much the "substantial meal" will have to cost?! It'll be way more than €9 that's for sure!!
Anyway seeing as we're enjoying a little mini heatwave I'm going to put all this emergency planning to the back of my mind 😊

eggandonion · 21/09/2026 23:02

I have a stockpile of partly used suncream bottles.

honeyrider · 21/09/2026 23:05

I'm always well stocked up, my cupboards and freezers are always full.

It was very warm today, I took my temperature today because I felt uncomfortably hot but my temperature was normal.

Biseach?

I think they call it Muphry’s Law @ColadhSamh…when you venture to criticise another’s writing you’re bound to make a mistake or two yourself 😅

FuzzyCaoraDhubh · 22/09/2026 07:45

Yes @Sidewindow that's what I meant.
I'm rusty!

Sidewindow · 22/09/2026 09:11

Not as rusty as me 😁
I had no idea what was meant until you posted!

Bisneach reminds me of misneach. A friend was appointed school principal a few years ago and I was amused when I heard that the professional development/mentoring programme for newly appointed school principals is called Misneach!
Courage!

eggandonion · 22/09/2026 12:03

Was that the name of a presidential dog a few years ago?
Did the presidential cats move to Phoenix Park?

FuzzyCaoraDhubh · 22/09/2026 12:27

That's right Sidewindow, I mixed up those two words!

Also, yes, Misneach was the name of the presidential doggy, eggandonion.

That's a good question about Catherine's cats. Cats don't like to move house.

I have a stockpile of suncream too, by the way.

JaneJeffer · 22/09/2026 12:29

There’s a reason ye have such a pile of sun cream Grin

eggandonion · 22/09/2026 13:32

I wonder if suncream really degrades. I also have assorted insect repellent and insect bite creams.
I have a load of old otc medications which apparently pharmacies will take back.

JaneJeffer · 22/09/2026 13:35

You could stick them in my PIL’s press. There’s so many tablets and medications that they wouldn’t even notice.

eggandonion · 22/09/2026 17:13

My dragon in law also has a pharmacy collection. Her doctor was happy to give a prescription for antibiotics if she rang up. Anything to shut her up.

ColadhSamh · 22/09/2026 21:09

Biseach - damn predicitive text and I didn't check

My Mamó 😻used to say it all the time when she wanted to get something off her chest. She always felt better having said her piece and that was her finishing phrase. We all say it in our family. Didn't realise it wasn't commonly used. The beauty of Gaeilge. Anyway no sweat.

@deeahgwitch Dia dhuit to you too. Yes, you are correct. Mumsnet would not allow the fada. I did contact them but never got it resolved. Can use it elsewhere but not at the time in a username. Might have changed since as it was a good few years ago.
Slán agus beannacht leat. Coladh sámh gach duine.

I thought I wasn't allowed wine on my Dunnes voucher anyway. I have to make up the fifty euros with chocolate.

turkeyboots · 24/09/2026 18:01

I thought that was the rule too, my Dunnes is the same. But Tesco does clubcard discount prices on wine, so not sure what loophole they missed last time.

🤣

yeah it’s the clubcard offers she wants to do away with

eggandonion · 24/09/2026 20:50

I am not allowed a Tesco club card. I had one but with an eircom.net email address which doesn't exist now. They won't let me have one because I have one even though I don't have one.
So I boycott Tesco. I don't think they care. But now I discover I have missed out on bargain liebfraumilch!

FuzzyCaoraDhubh · 24/09/2026 21:20

Wagon 😁
I thought that wasn't allowed already?!

deeahgwitch · 24/09/2026 21:41

I had an eircom.net email account also @eggandonionbut someone was able to sort me out so that I received emails from there to my google account. I didn’t do it myself as I am a technophobe.
Bloody eircom said they would charge me for having an email account with them so I moved to google.
I wonder does anyone pay Eircom to have an Eircom email account ?

eggandonion · 24/09/2026 22:03

The charges were just before covid. I had a friend who used an eircom.net account for a club she ran but didn't want to pay...we had that chat then she told me her kids were going skiing in Italy 😮

Táim anseo!

I would dress for winter. It's still very nippy. I wouldn't be happy if I'm cold.

We had snow on my dd's confirmation in late March years ago. It was very unexpected!

I would over heat horribly if I dressed for winter, it's still quite warm. Layers?
