Are woman and girls a gender now? If so why waste cabinet time?

You're right - to see serious journos having to say/write words like 'her frozen sperm' and 'her wife gave birth to her child' must surely have helped a lot of people realise just how completely divorced from scientific reality trans ideology is.
But it has to be spoken in tones of due reverence to the T which has taken over the LGB as the face of modern, tolerant Ireland🙄

Trans woman to bring High Court challenge over recognition of her as biological mother of child
Woman says if she has to claim to be the ‘father’ of child as part of the application, it would be an ‘offensive, discriminatory and unjust attack’ on her person, gender identity and legal status
Trans woman to bring High Court challenge over recognition of her as biological mother of child – The Irish Times

"Her sperm" is obviously ridiculous but "her wife gave birth to her child" could, in other circumstances, be a reasonable sentence as they could be lesbians. It's not clear in the sentence who each "her" refers to but it could be the wife's child using her own egg or they could have used a donor egg from one wife with the other wife doing the pregnancy or both hers could refer to the wife. Obviously not in this case though...

I was puzzled this morning as to why the story about Helen McEntee taking her gender project to cabinet, important headline at 6 00, had vanished by 7.30. Now I know. I hope it means we've dodged that bullet.

Funny when you click on the link, it's got Bosco saying "Oh no, boys and girls, we can't find the page you're looking for" - I hope he isn't making assumptions about the gender of the viewers, what a raging bigot of a puppet!!! 😂 https://www.rte.ie/news/ireland/2025/1118/1544517-ireland-cabinet-politics/

It's strange that RTE removed the page instead of updating it. The press release about the five-year plan is still on gov.ie:

Was Bosco's own gender ever made public ? In my mind it was He , coz Bosco was a boy's name way back but I suppose he is in his own universe really. Nice to see him pop up there 😁

I think Bosco may have been the original non-binary entity.

DeanElderberry · 18/11/2025 20:56

In 1980, the news that Bosco was (voiced by someone) gay was big!

TeaHagTeaBag · 18/11/2025 21:06

Speaking of notable non binary RTE presenters, does anyone remember Jonahthan Rachel Clinch? That was 10 years ago. I remember at the time hearing an announcement on a news bulletin that JRC would be presenting in either gender and wondering why anyone should/would care or why it would be on the news. Don't think I've heard about him in either guise since.

No, wasn't Bosco voiced by one of the Lambert's puppet theatre girls? (Well, woman, the grown up daughter of the family, older than me anyway)

Edited cos I thought to Google. Looks like we might both be right!

There was some discussion of gender issues on the Brendan O'Connor Show on RTÉ Radio this morning, prompted by articles about Enoch Burke. Brenda Power was on the panel. The section starts around 26:45:

There's a health programme on Newstalk on Sunday mornings which I sometimes half-listen to over breakfast. This morning I half-heard that it was about men's health. Men. Men need special support. Men don't talk about their feelings. Movember for men's health... BTW it was two women talking about men men men, though I think a man joined in later.

I have absolutely no problem with men getting all the support and advice they need to improve their physical, emotional and mental health.

But when it comes to women's health, we have pregnant people, people with cervixes, gender based violence again people of all genders, and so on. All sorts of verbal gymnastics to avoid saying women. Pregnant women. Women. Mothers. Women victims of male violence.

Men's health? not a circumlocution in sight!🙄

VaddaABeetch · 24/11/2025 09:24

@MarieDeGournay and why is it that women must solve the issue of men not talking about their feelings or not checking their health? If men don't want to do those things well let them at it.

Genesis1v27 · 26/11/2025 18:12

Kathy Sheridan has a "why can't everyone just be kind" column in today's Irish Times:

Where is the kindness when we talk about trans people?

I was once at an international women's day event where Kathy Sheridan introduced Amy Huberman as Brian O'Driscoll's wife. She can fuck off.

Internalised misogyny still exists though Amy herself loves to let people know she's his wife. I find both are painful doses.

Has anyone else read A New Campaign, A new Direction, A New Mission from The Countess? eg
we will apply the same ethos of excellence, action and results-oriented rigour to the issue of open border immigration to protect and vindicate the human rights of the Irish people in particular women and children. ..
Laoise de Brún BL said “I feel about our current immigration system now the way I felt about gender self ID and trans from 2018 onwards: a sense of disbelief that this is being allowed happen and an overwhelming sense of an existential threat to fundamental rights.
The data from Europe is a stark warning that the safety of women and children is risked by current immigration policy specifically by the placing of international protection applicants in residential areas because these men are not screened via European crime databases.”

They've gone full-on 'open borders' =unchecked immigration = unvetted males =sexual violence against women and children = threat to our Irish identity etc etc.

They even manage to link illegal migrants to the grooming gangs in the UK, also the most high-profile ones were British men, not illegal migrants at all. Cheap.

Their ethos of excellence, action and results-oriented rigour hasn't managed to stop unvetted Irish men raping, abusing and murdering women and children, has it?
They should just get on with fighting male violence, regardless of the nationality of the perpetrator.

What difference does it make whether my abuser was Irish, Somalian, Albanian or Klingon? Spoiler alert: he was Irish, and a pillar of the local community. And unvetted.

I'm not denying that there are problems all around the world, including Ireland, caused by what to do with the millions of displaced people who are inevitably going to move from poverty, war, environmental degradation to wherever they think they can survive better. But The Countess focusing on sexual violence by a small number of immigrants, as if this was something new that these evil unvetted males have introduced into Holy Feminist Ireland, is shocking.

It's given me 'A New Direction' too, as far away from The Countess as I can get!

Yes. I got that email and immediately unsubscribed. There was an other option for reason to unsubscribe and I told them I fully supported their work wrt women's spaces and surrogacy but I could not be associated with an organisation that is anti-immigrant.

I agree that open borders can cause issues and that we do need controls but this new direction skinks of racism to me. hey state that they "intend to mobilise a Broadchurch Conservative movement" which does not align with my feminist principles. I'm out. Such a shame as they were doing great work.

Great. I've just unsubscribed too and told them why in no uncertain terms!

Meanwhile back in woo-woo land our girls and young women are being taught good and early that their sex based rights are irrelevant compared to men’s and boy’s ‘feelings’.
Plus ça change in Ireland.

“The Irish Girl Guides organisation has said it will not follow its UK counterpart in introducing a ban on transgender members.
The Irish organisation, which has around 10,000 youth and adult members, states in its Child Safeguarding Statement that its membership is 'open to all who live their lives as female'.
Girl guiding UK announced this week that it had come to the 'difficult decision' to limit its membership to girls and young women'.
It means it will no longer accept applications from people who were not biologically female at birth. But the Irish organisation has said it has no plans to introduce a similar restriction.”

You can only live your life as female if you are female. And while the GRA does allow people to change their sex for legal purposes, no child can have a GRC so no one under 18 who was born male can "live their lives as female".

And yes, I know it's imaginary for those with a GRC but it does have legal standing.

We desperately need a high profile court case to challenge the law here, unfortuntely it's the only way we might ever see change.
