He is lovely in real life. Hes a friend of a relative. I know the American cousins coming back used to be a pain but some of them are so happy to visit. Maybe distance has helped over time.
Sad to lose yet another young musician.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 14/04/2023 22:20

Very sad, too young. May he rest in peace.

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 14/04/2023 23:47

I'm so sorry to hear it. Awfully sad news.

May he rest in peace.

halfpasteleven · 15/04/2023 08:07

So so sad RIP Mark. Such a talented band. They seemed to have a genuineness about them that was rare these days.

JaneJeffer · 15/04/2023 22:20

Watching Angela Scanlon. God that Jarlath Regan is a pain in the arse. Keith looks great.

Just listened to the Dr Tony doesn't go to TCD saga. Hard to believe we had a whole list of Dr Tony Dr Cillian Prof Luke etc minding us. What a very weird time three years ago.

LadyEloise1 · 20/04/2023 15:51

@eggandonion "......just listened to the Dr Tony doesn't go to TCD saga....."

The arrogance of some people involved make my blood boil.

Did i understand correctly that €20 million was to be spent over 10 years - I do hope I misunderstood as I was listening to very upset parents of children with special needs who have no school for them in September on Joe Duffy yesterday.
It would break your heart.

eggandonion · 20/04/2023 18:48

That University headhunted a friend of mine from a uk University. Not a Russell Group one which I only ever hear mentioned here. She had just won a really big research grant. She is a former nurse who went into academia. She was promised the earth.
She was given a desk in the corner of someone else's office. And can only use it occasionally. Shes not thrilled. They get all the publicity from her work and shes on the staff website. But somewhere else is paying.

It sounds similar although I hope Dr Tony would have a nice office of his own.
Yes it is a disgrace.

halfpasteleven · 20/04/2023 22:18

What's all this about re Dr Tony?

eggandonion · 20/04/2023 23:21

Tcd lined him up to be a professor or public health...but the hse were going to pay his salary plus a lot of other money besides.

JaneJeffer · 23/04/2023 16:18

RIP Bród, a very good boy

eggandonion · 23/04/2023 16:42

Such sad news. The dogs are an asset in international diplomacy!

FuzzyCaoraDhubh · 23/04/2023 18:57

Bród was the best boy 😢

60smusic · 25/04/2023 08:56

LadyEloise1 · 25/04/2023 11:27

Anyone listen to Liveline yesterday ?
Joe was very cross and rightly so that the drowning of 2 men in Dublin on Good Friday got so little media attention.
A homeless man called James jumped in to rescue a young man who, as his friend who was with him said was a spur of the moment alcohol fuelled decision to jump in to the Liffey ( I'm not sure if the 21 year old was suicidal or it was for the craic ). James came along and without hesitation jumped in to save him. He was ex Army, had battled addictions and knew how to swim.
Sadly both men lost their lives.
A deafening silence from the media.
Too busy with Biden visit news etc.
The death of Bród got more attention.

Heartbreaking for the families and friends of the two men.
May they rest in peace.
I'd love if someone or some official body acknowledged in some way the heroism of James.

3luckystars · 25/04/2023 12:11

I didn’t hear a thing about that. I’m glad it is getting attention now. Thank you.

FuzzyCaoraDhubh · 25/04/2023 19:48

I only heard about it today and I agree that the bravery of that young man should be recognised. It's unacceptable that it wasn't reported until now. May he rest in peace.

60smusic · 25/04/2023 19:52

The young man who was sadly stabbed to death in Kingswood, not sure if anyone remembers, approx 3 years ago. I remember the case going before a jury a few months ago. Does anyone know what the outcome of this was? There's nothing online, just gives details of what was said in court.

Never thought I'd see the day a British newspaper would have a headline like this Grin

When and where is it on ?

JaneJeffer · 30/04/2023 16:15

RTE1 on the 14th @LadyEloise1

LadyEloise1 · 30/04/2023 16:47

Thank you

JaneJeffer · 30/04/2023 15:51

Grin

I couldn't watch it with Charlene McKenna in it, she's a woeful actress, bad enough for Fair City. She plays the same character in everything she's in and has one of the most painful accents.

eggandonion · 04/05/2023 23:16

Are we all organised for the coronation? Im not working this Saturday thankfully.
