It's sad alright about the Queen. I didn't think I would find it this sad. Now I'm not sitting here crying but feel quite down about it. Some of the threads on here are a bit 😲😲 some not so nice things being said.

It's a shame that Charles can't really celebrate his new title, but fair play to him running around the place meeting so many people,, I wonder if he rolls his eyes when he gets in the car.

I got new varifocals today, GOD, they're awful. I'm actually feeling sick wearing them. They're making me dizzy too. Seemily takes 2 weeks to adjust 😭😭 I'm very tempted to ring optician tomorrow and ask to go back to what I had, I'll just suffer not seeing things far away. I'm sure he'll be impressed, he's a lovely man but I think he doesn't really like me.

Iblinkedandiamold · 13/09/2022 22:30

@Thethreecs I didn't think I would find it sad either. Like you said, not crying over it but sort of more like strange. She's been around since many of us have been born. So strange her not being around anymore.
In other news, many in the childcare sector are getting a pay raise on Thursday. Myself included Odd day to do it isn't it.
Can't wait to see how much the tax man will take off me on Friday 😂

eggandonion · 14/09/2022 17:12

Im linked to the minimum wage, so will get a payrise in January, assuming the electricity bill hasn't bankrupted my workplace.
The Queen is like a nice elderly lady who you meet out and about, and exchange pleasantries with, youd miss bumping into her. Poor Harry and William, following another coffin at the same time of year as their mums funeral.

JaneJeffer · 16/09/2022 18:55

I blame Liz Truss for starting it!

Definitely. They never did it before!

LadyEloise1 · 19/09/2022 12:30

Anyone watch the funeral ?
I didn't intend to but got sucked in.

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 19/09/2022 12:39

I switched in for half an hour from before midday. It's compelling to watch.

I loved the Queen's Piper who played 'Sleep, Dearie, Sleep'. A lovely touch.

The music is beautiful. The pageantry is amazing. It's a hard day for the family, who are like any another family grieving for their mother or grandmother or relative.

JaneJeffer · 19/09/2022 14:05

I've had it on. I didn't hear the archbishop's sermon but the funeral in general seemed very impersonal to me and the marching was over long. I think the Scottish ceremony was better.

OP posts:
Carriemac · 20/09/2022 12:47

I think the private family committal
last night was more personal
.

JaneJeffer · 20/09/2022 13:02

I've got a Beethoven's Funeral March No. 1 earworm. I love it though. It's very calming!

😂I know. I have one too. It was fabulous. What a spectacle.

eggandonion · 27/09/2022 11:53

It's suddenly chilly and autumn here, I had to nip out of work for a takeaway coffee It's so cold Whinge whinge.
I wonder what Halloween will be like this year, will it be normal. Will i have to buy excessive numbers of fun size bars?

Deadringer · 27/09/2022 12:29

Definitely getting colder, I hope we are not in for a freezing, miserable winter.

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 27/09/2022 12:43

Yes. A seasonal change. Boo!
I resisted the urge to turn the heating on.
It's tempting on a chilly, wet day.

JaneJeffer · 27/09/2022 12:49

I put the heating on for a while the last couple of days. Trying to resist putting a fire down until October mostly because I don't want to have to deal with the ashes! September has been lovely until the weekend.

Saw that 😮😂

TarasChoc · 30/09/2022 09:23

It's really miserable out here today, wind and rain. Strange though our house is the toasty even though there's no heating on.
I got my electricity bill via email at bedtime last night. Not a pretty Sight and that's before the large hike which kicks in tomorrow. I suppose at least there'll be €200 credit on at least the next 3 bills.
