I've gone wild and booked a back massage for Wednesday after work. I am in desperate need of one. Especially in-between my shoulder blades. It's starting to get painful. Can't wait.

eggandonion · 25/01/2022 00:09

Oh that's a treat as well as a good treatment!
Im going through a phase of feeling I only go to work because I get paid. I m trying to remember this time last year! Not going to work for months is a blur. I wonder if Boris remembers much of lockdown!

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 25/01/2022 09:50

I wonder if Boris remembers much of lockdown! I don't think Boris' experience of lockdown was anything like ours! I'd say he barely noticed any difference Hmm

Iblinkedandiamold · 25/01/2022 18:27

That's true Boris had no idea there was a lock down. Or maybe he thought only "commoners" got Covid.

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 26/01/2022 10:34

Enjoy your back massage today Iblinkedandiamold! I hope you come out feeling like a new woman!

LadyEloise1 · 26/01/2022 15:21

@Iblinkedandiamold Boris got Covid. He was hospitalised and apparently in ICU.

eggandonion · 26/01/2022 22:08

I wonder if he was, or if he was on holiday somewhere! He's terrible for telling fibs, allegedly.

Joolsin · 26/01/2022 23:50

He did look a bit shook after that episode, so I do think he had it then. Can't say I believe some of the other times he conveniently disappeared from view for various reasons, though. He's determined to weather the storms like a bloomin limpet!

JaneJeffer · 28/01/2022 10:10

Does else read the Aldi recommendations on here and decide to shop there for a change but then can never find them in the shop and regret not going to Dunnes in the first place?

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 28/01/2022 10:29

No Jane. I don't go to Aldi at all. I'm sick of those ads. We're the Murphy's/Riordan's/Delaney's Go away!!

JaneJeffer · 28/01/2022 10:36

Grin I was in our local one before Christmas and the constant announcements about the tills drove me daft. I did get some lovely mince pies mind you!

OP posts:
IsFuzzyBeagMise · 28/01/2022 10:56

Oh well! It would be worth it for nice mince pies!

eggandonion · 28/01/2022 11:21

We will have an aldi soon, and lidl is supposed to expand. Im always amazed at people with massive trolleys full in lidl, because I can't buy a weekly shop there. Or in marks. Or in the posh online market.
If i could save 150 euros a week, wed eat for free!

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 28/01/2022 12:01

I shop mostly at Lidl, I love it and can get most things there, I just need to do a top up shop at Tesco for the few branded things that we can't seem to live without! Although I can get the same stuff in Aldi, I find the quality much better in Lidl. But we have a lovely big store locally, I know it really varies depending on where you are. There's a Lidl not far from where I work and it's horrible.

JaneJeffer · 28/01/2022 12:05

Our local Lidl is awful. DS's love the bakery section though!

The queue in Aldi 🙄
They promise to open a till if someone is waiting at a particular spot in the queue but they don't !
There are never enough staff there or in Lidl if you have a query.
And some stuff advertised in the brochure just isn't available. It's not that I got in too late and there was a mad rush for said item. They just never got it/ them in to the store- this happened in a few stores.
Grr. Rant over.

eggandonion · 28/01/2022 13:17

Our local lidl seemed to run out of sanitiser and trolley wipes quite a lot, which put me off. And the last time I was in was badly timed, it was secondary school lunchtime and i had to queue with teenagers making unhealthy choices and their mates shoving in to get them to pay. I was very mumsnet about that.

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 28/01/2022 13:34

I'm not sure that it is actually sanitizer, egg; it's so watery. I like Lidl when it's quiet.

eggandonion · 28/01/2022 13:43

I buy plants in Lidl, but they do tend to pass away slowly. I like the way Christmas begins in Lidl in September, and Easter is in full swing before Lent. I find that keeps me up to speed. Although SuperValu still has Family Circle tins and pancake mix at the same time.

LadyEloise1 · 30/01/2022 17:34

Another great article by Justine Mc Carthy in the Sunday Times - on the salary of Robert Watt the head of the Department of Health. He's been given and accepted €80,000 extra.
Himself and Stephen Donnelly went off to Dubai to a health conference this week 🙄
Despite the scandal re children in South Kerry all over

LadyEloise1 · 30/01/2022 17:34

Sent too soon

LadyEloise1 · 30/01/2022 17:37

the mediaSad

Huge salaries for Robert Watt and Paul Reid. We are a small country.
It's ridiculous.

And the buck never stops for cock ups. AngrySad

eggandonion · 30/01/2022 19:57

Yes it is a difficult department, and the hse does a massive variety of things....but those salaries are ridiculous. Even deduct the 80krise and youd have 2 midwives.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 30/01/2022 21:17

The HSE is just a totally inefficient, top-heavy beast of a department. Nobody seems to be able to tackle it. So much waste and bureaucracy, so many pen-pushers.

eggandonion · 30/01/2022 21:38

It is massive, and needs to be properly run by qualified professionals. But that's really not the case it would appear.
The camhs problem could happen anywhere, there are so many gaps in medical cover.
