Thanks @Dublincailin. That’s great to know

WandaD · 19/05/2021 22:59

Thanks @Dublincailin .
I'm a HSE worker.
We've been working so hard in my area getting patients seen and clearing the backlog caused by the pandemic. The cyber attack feels like we are being kicked while we are down.

eggandonion · 19/05/2021 23:05

@WandaD it's rotten. I was half asleep last Friday when I heard the news I thought I was dreaming it.
All you can do is your best, you must be exhausted.

ContinuousMonotoneBeep · 20/05/2021 06:35

I bet it does WandaD. Feels like that not even working in the HSE - cannot imagine how bad it feels to be part of it.

Dublincailin · 20/05/2021 07:16

@WandaD

I know, I had to pulled from the frontline due to illness.

So I was/am essential service behind the scenes.

Just to reassure anyone due to be paid or knows someone. Salaries are definitely in.

Hopefully the bank system doesn't crash with the run of HSE workers checking 🤣😹

ContinuousMonotoneBeep · 20/05/2021 07:36

Can anyone tell me what purpose medical history has on the dark Web? What would other people want with it? (I mean outside it being the release of private information.)

SecondRow · 20/05/2021 08:14

I was just listening to Morning Ireland ContinuousMonotoneBeep, the expert they had on said he was optimistic that the value of patient data from the HSE would be less than, say, in the USA, because healthcare is not so expensive here. But it was just a theory of his and he said we really don't know.

I think in the USA context it could be about insurance costs - if your preexisting conditions are public knowledge, it is more expensive? But then again, don't you have to declare them anyway?

Apileofballyhoo · 20/05/2021 09:29

I saw my Mammy yesterday and had a billion hugs.

Killahangilion · 20/05/2021 09:47

Has anyone had the new single shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine yet? I’ve been texted a date/time at the week-end and this is what they’ve offered me. I’m excited to be getting jabbed but a bit worried about how effective it is.

DH has just had his second Pfizer vaccine and is struggling with the after effects.

Dublincailin · 20/05/2021 10:28

It depends on the medical knowledge.

They could have potentially also have got into commercially sensitive info. Possibly patients financial information.

The big one is people’s PPS. They are valuable all public systems are linked to them, revenue, social welfare, driving licence.

Depending on how far they got in that could be both staff and patients.

Patients could have private info they are choosing not to reveal, ie HIV, TB, an abortion springs to mind straight away.

It is absolute carnage.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 20/05/2021 11:19

I hadn't even thought of what they could do with the data - that all sounds awful Shock shit.

@Apileofballyhoo how lovely for you both, I wish you many more to come xx

DH & I are registered for the vaccine, I wonder how long it will take to get to us. I don't really care which one I'm given but I think I'd prefer the one dose just to get it over with!

What the hell is going on with the weather?? I was awake a lot last night and it honestly sounded like the middle of winter with the wind and rain lashing against the windows. So sick of it.

eggandonion · 20/05/2021 11:19

My medical history wouldn't be very thrilling, but it is a gateway to so many other services.
I'm hoping that the fact that various services like health, welfare, education seem totally disconnected is a good thing.
My daughter worked in a unit used by elderly and quite I'll clients. The receptionist checked rip.ie daily, because that was the only way to discover if anyone had died, and not send an appointment.

So happy for you Apile. That must have been a fabulous moment Smile

A friend of mine is getting the Jansen on Saturday, she's 51. DH had the Pfizer this week. He felt under the weather and had a very sore arm. I'm registering tomorrow (yay!).

I think other department have more uptodate operating systems.

The very fact that the HSE was expected to creak away with Windows 7 is nothing but a disgrace.

This Irish Time article highlighted the risk in January 2019.

thelegohooverer · 20/05/2021 11:59

@Apileofballyhoo it’s lovely to hear that! It’s given me a lift on an otherwise miserable morning! Feels like we’re getting closer and closer now.

Dh got his Pfizer this week - sore arm and he’s sleeping more than usual, but no bother really. He was very impressed with the organisation of it all.

ContinuousMonotoneBeep · 20/05/2021 12:14

Oh missed this!! How lovely.

I haven't seen any member of my family since 2019, so this moment is still to come for me.

eggandonion · 20/05/2021 12:22

Stupid weather gods, this is May not November.

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 20/05/2021 12:31

I just want to crawl under the duvet, quite honestly

eggandonion · 20/05/2021 12:38

I cut my grass badly yesterday, it was pretty wet and is hacked. I keep mentioning to dh that I am delighted I cut it yesterday,

I'd have paid a random man at the door with a mower to do it, but no random man appeared.

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 20/05/2021 12:49

Ha ha...DH didn't get around to doing it between all the rain and his jab, so the grass is growing well.

eggandonion · 20/05/2021 12:51

I'd have passed it off as wild flowers but we had massive clumps of grass.

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 20/05/2021 13:08

Clumps of wild grass, then :) the cats will be chin deep in grass when they ever go back out in it!

MissMaudSilver · 20/05/2021 13:11

@eggandonion
DH is fretting about his grass, he has only been off on rainy days lately. He would understand your delight and your need to talk about it totally.

The grass is currently long and full of dandelions, the bug population must be huge as we have several blackbirds and two pigeons in permanent residence.

Dublincailin · 20/05/2021 15:33

Except depending on the HSE sections it could potentially have access to the SW systems through the back door.
