I am back on Friday the 27th. Just for a bit of training and to set up the room.
Monday the 30th is when the mayhem begins.

eggandonion · 19/08/2021 17:27

I had my second jab mid July. I swear that is ten days ago. August has vanished.

Iblinkedandiamold · 19/08/2021 17:33

I know @eggandonion. I got mine around then too. Actually my arm is still a little sore after it. Nothing major just feels like it's a little bruised. Anyone else?
It is possible that I bumped it and don't remember, I do walk into doorframe a lot. I mean they just appear out of nowhere. 😀

eggandonion · 19/08/2021 17:48

Mine twinges if I lie a certain way.

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 20/08/2021 11:48

The summer has flown by! I've started the back to school rigmarole. Tremendous expense. I have a ds going into TY and it's 500 euro for him alone to do whatever programme of activities that they have lined up. I also had to pay it last year for my DD who was at home for a good chunk of the year so I hope it is worth it this time.

Has anyone heard of a gastric bug doing the rounds? I've had a really long week of it. Not throwing up, but cramping, gurgling, frequent bathroom trips, you get the idea. Everyone else in the household has been fine so it's weird.

Iblinkedandiamold · 20/08/2021 12:08

There are a few bugs doing the rounds any surprise really with the weather. One minute it's cold and wet, then warm and wet then a heatwave. Bugs are dying and coming back really quickly.
I'm just sorting out my lists of kids for preschool and afterschool. I have people pulling out and looking for places all the time. People are still nervous with the virus. Hard to keep track of everything. Especially when you are not organised.

Iblinkedandiamold · 20/08/2021 14:01

I got blood taken yesterday and I feel so tired today. I'm not even dressed. Been lying on the sofa since I got up. I've so much to do today too. Sad

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 20/08/2021 14:31

There's definitely something gastric doing the rounds Fuzzy I've had a few people off work with it in the last week or so. Hope you feel better soon.

The cost of back to school is shocking. I had to buy DS entire uniform again even though he hardly wore the bloody thing last year. He has outgrown every stitch.

My friend paid a fortune for TY last year and like that they didn't get doing anything. You should all have gotten a refund, it's a disgrace!

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 20/08/2021 16:21

Thanks Life, I think I'm on the mend, fingers crossed. Luckily I had nothing on and stayed at home.

Yes, TY was disappointing last year. The school did their best, but it was not as good as it should have been. I'm feeling it, as I have two kids in secondary, one following the other. Senior cycle books are very expensive too.

I had to get my lad a new uniform too as he took a stretch. 99 euro for a jumper, trousers and two shirts. And shoes and runners. He wore out his runners but as you said, the school shoes didn't get much wear. Oh well!

Iblinkedandiamold · 20/08/2021 16:37

When I hear how much uniforms cost I thank God that the school my DS went to sourced it's uniforms cheaply.
It was like 30euro for a jumper with the crest and 20 euro for the trousers.
It made getting 2 jumpers and 2 pair of trousers every year less expensive.
I never got the shirts but I used to have to get his shirts in M&S as they were the only ones that didn't rip.
I use the shirts in work as painted smocks for the kids and they are still holding up well. :D.
99 euro for one of each is crazy expensive. I dunno how much our shirts were but they weren't 50 euro each. More like 10 or 15 euro at the most.

I've noticed lately that our little town has alot of foreigners resetting in it lately. All I can think is why the F$$k are you settling here, in Ireland. It does nothing but rain. I may be p$$sed off with the weather.
On the other hand in a generation or two Irish people might actually be good looking. Some of these people are very good looking but either married or too young.

Coffeeanddarkchoc · 23/08/2021 09:09

There seems to be a lot more travelling between england and ireland now.

I can see that if double vaccinated, theres no need to quarantine on arrival into Ireland, but what is the situation for children? Do they have to quarantine? Or just have a test before/after arrival?

eggandonion · 31/08/2021 22:18

Are we all ready for the next few weeks?Smile
I'm a bit unsure.

Iblinkedandiamold · 01/09/2021 13:59

Nope, I miss concerts so much but I am nervous about attending them again. Outdoor I think I might be okay but indoor would have me a bit anxious.
I have no idea about children and quarantine. I did read/hear somewhere that Ireland has one of the highest levels of Covid cases in Europe. We are still red apparently.

CliffsofMohair · 01/09/2021 20:59

Do are well all spending our evenings deleting our text messages in case of hacking/need storage?
No?
Just Simon?? !

eggandonion · 01/09/2021 21:06

Their texts are as dull as most of the texts on my phone. Although is she really called the piglet?
I'd love to host a small reception for myself, I'd love to be so important!

We are so red in fact the processing of close contacts in schools has been seriously delayed where we are (Clare). Parents not being notified or booked in for testing. Huge backlog apparently.

No the piglet was the fancy wine bar . It had to be clarified several times. Although she’ll be known as the Piglet I imagine for evermore
eggandonion · 01/09/2021 21:51

I don't know any fancy wine bars, I have been know to text from the chipper to see if anyone wants onion rings.
Yeah, in my head she's now Piglet.

Iblinkedandiamold · 02/09/2021 18:03

Ah lads, I'm wrecked. I forgot how draining the first few weeks are. It's utter Chaos. This year they seem to be more destructive then usual. The room looks like a hurricane passed through it 10 minutes after they enter.
Still though today the first day they settled quickly. Very little crying. We must be doing something right.

It all seems a bit sudden! And the case numbers are so high; we're the highest in the European block today.

When you text, 'hello from the piglet' (no punctuation) it's going to happen. Yes, it will stick :)

How did it become the piglet I wonder?!

I’m cracking up at the picture of Leo picking his nose at the Mighty Hoopla! 😂

Life is very strange isn't it. My aunt, who's only in her 60s, had a heart attack and was clinically dead for a few minutes. She was brought back by CPR and is on a serious condition in Hospital. However obviously her brain has been affected. She's very restless not really sleeping, she can't remember a lot. Sometimes this includes family members, she's only starting to speak again. This is someone who used to talk for Ireland.
I just find it so surreal how one minute you can be fine, talking on the phone maybe even making dinner/breakfast and the next you're in hospital finding simple tasks hard.
This isn't meant to be morbid because I am fully expecting my aunt to make to full recovery. She is young and otherwise healthy, keeps active etc.
