I'm watching the film wrong turn because I wanted to stream old but this came on instead. It is a very frustrating horror? Thriller? I dunno.
Admittedly Alexa has been reading me books where the main character is ex military so when they go after people they are smart about it. Calculating their every move. So films where someone falls into a trap and then the group walk around without paying attention is frustrating me. Grin

Any recommendations for Waterford? Ardmore? Tramore? Thinking of heading there for a few days .. Probably Tramore so if anyone knows of any good family days out please post! Thanks Smile

CliffsofMohair · 23/07/2021 20:49

I’d love a good thunderstorm . Jealous of the thunder belt up the country today

Summernamechange2021 · 23/07/2021 21:16

What age are the kids @halfpasteleven? Imo Tramore has something to keep everyone entertained

halfpasteleven · 23/07/2021 21:54

8 and 2 @Summernamechange2021
The beach in Tramore really does look lovely, we might do the greenway as well..

Summernamechange2021 · 23/07/2021 22:53

@halfpasteleven I have an almost 8 year old and a just turned 2 year old Grin and Tramore is good for both. We do half day on the beach, then half day at the fun fair. We've done two half days at the fun fair this year and I'd say DS has only managed to go on half the rides in that time.

You'd also be really close to Waterford city, the Suir valley railway and mount congreve gardens

Some lovely ideas there @Summernamechange2021 thanks a million! That's gas we have such similar ages!
Thanks again and has anyone any family friendly places to eat please?

Joolsin · 25/07/2021 23:16

Just back home from a week in Costa del Mayo - how brilliant was it - gorgeous mountains and lakes and beaches. Swam loads, ate tonnes. Although all the locals we spoke to were at pains to say "Ah you might think it's nice now, but you wouldn't think it in the middle of winter when it's lashing rain all the time". Only downside was the bastarding horseflies - had forgotten how much they hurt.

I finally finished doing up my bathroom, just a few small little finishing touches to do.
I can't stop looking at it. I love it. Grin

I applied for Social Welfare two weeks ago. Not allowed into office because of Covid so did it online. I am still waiting. Usually I go into the office the day after I finish for the summer, I get an appointment and I am approved it usually takes a few days a week max.
I am panicking as I am out of money. I do have savings but I already dipped into them.
Hoping I hear something soon. 🙏

Is there a number you can ring? My friends in school who are classroom assistants do this too every holiday and it's always really random. Sometimes the form comes out in advance, sometimes they have to ring up for it, etc.
Iblinkedandiamold · 28/07/2021 22:45

@Joolsin they just said they were very busy and couldn't give me a time frame.

Yikes, that's scary. I'm meeting my friends tomorrow for a walk. I'll ask them if they've got anything yet or if they've got a similar delay.

I applied online the 25th June and just got approved this week and will get my money tomorrow. Seems to have taken ages. They asked for further paperwork after almost 2 weeks and I supplied it within an hour of being asked but didn't hear anything further for over another 2 weeks. Crazy.

Congratulations to the Irish rowers Paul O' Donovan and Fintan Mc Carthy winning gold at the Olympics.
Congratulations too to the four women rowers - Aifric Keogh, Eimear Lambe, Fiona Murtagh and Emily Hegarty on winning a bronze medal.
Some good news at last.

I hope you get sorted soon @Iblinkedandiamold

CliffsofMohair · 29/07/2021 09:05

Amazing Lads. Lifted the spirits.

Hope Sanita is well supported as she transitions home. She has done so much for the sport of rowing.

JaneJeffer · 29/07/2021 15:47

@Iblinkedandiamold you should get in touch with your local Community Welfare Officer. They can issue an emergency payment to tide you over which would then be deducted from your benefit back pay when it comes through.

Iblinkedandiamold · 30/07/2021 17:56

@JaneJeffer I couldn't be bothered with all that, I borrowed money from a friend instead. I only have one friend I would borrow or lend money too. She's more like a sister than a friend.
I now have a enough to cover my bills over the next few weeks.
I'm not too worried about food, I can go to my parents if I want to, but my cupboards are fill of chickpeas, lentils etc.

JaneJeffer · 30/07/2021 18:37

A friend in need is a friend indeed!

Does Seán Bán Breathnach have the secret of eternal youth? He's on Rásaí na Gaillimhe and he looks just like he did when he was ina shuí!

Abhannmor · 02/08/2021 07:26

In a shuí...I thought that meant awake ? But níl mé líofa!

HAHAVeryBunny2 · 02/08/2021 14:11

Just a heads up if you're looking for some stylish, cheap clothes.
Gap are closing down and have up to 70% off on clothes, including kiddies.
Was in the Dundrum branch this morning and there is still plenty of stock.
Everything must go, they even had for sale tags on the fixtures and fittings!
Shame for the people who work there though.

JaneJeffer · 02/08/2021 14:20

@Abhannmor it means sitting. He had a TV programme called SBB ina shuí back in the 80's. I think you're confusing with dúsigh?

Summernamechange2021 · 02/08/2021 20:47

Does anyone know what books they use in primary school for Irish these days? My DS is going into second class and I'd like to get a book to go through a bit with him at home but they dont use books in his school so I'm clueless. Hes struggling a little in it and I dont want him to end up falling behind and hating it.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 02/08/2021 21:07

Our school use the "Bua na Cainte" books @Summernamechange2021

halfpasteleven · 02/08/2021 22:19

Bua na cainte here too @Summernamechange2021
It's a lovely programme - quite interactive and I'm sure there would be a code for use at home due to home schooling this last school year
