Yes Fuzzy mine is overdue now too.
The news this morning is very depressing. My DH is a real doom merchant and has been telling me for ages that this isn't over by a long shot (who knew I was married to someone from NPHET Hmm) he reckons they know way more than they're telling us and it must be really bad. I just don't know what to think. I want it all to go away.
I think the HSE system being hacked is also a big part of the problem now.

Not just me then, Life. I have friends waiting too. They have gone on breaks away but will have to come back for the jab (if the text ever comes!) Your comment made me laugh who knew I was married to someone from NPHET Yes. I feel we haven't had a break yet before having to think about another wave and what that might entail. Boo.

My apt for the 2nd Pfizer shot is a couple of days sooner than I expected. It’s a bit weird because everyone else I know is running late.

That's good to hear Lego!

I don't know about anywhere else, but there's a delay in Cork definitely.

CinnamonSweet73 · 02/07/2021 13:21

I'm in Cork and getting my second Pfizer shot tomorrow, 29 days after first. I'm 48. Husband hot his 30 days after first. So fairly on time. Just for info!

Drbrowns · 02/07/2021 13:24

I’m not sure I can keep going with the constant gloom. It’s unrelenting. I’ve both vaccines cos I fell into catergory 7 but all this news about the delta variant is still making me really anxious, and I think the lack of data and clarity is not helping. We booked France for next June but I can already see that slipping away. Does anyone have any links or stats for hospitalisations and deaths in the uk. Are they really going way up or are the vaccines actually making a difference?

Ah, okay! It's not complete delay so.
IsFuzzyBeagMise · 02/07/2021 16:06

Update: I got the text for 10th of July. Relieved.

MrsMaiselsRedCoat · 03/07/2021 13:41

That's great news IsFuzzyBeagMise, I'm waiting for my second as well and then hopefully we'll be able to relax a bit!

Grotty day here, grey and raining, I just looked at the forecast for the next few days, looks like it will be books, movies and hot chocolates all round. Not what we need in July.

I got my second yesterday. Feeling the effects a lot more compared to the first; arm much sorer, aches and the tiredness is unbelievable .. I know some people like this after moderna.. anyone else from Pfizer?

Thank you, MrsMaiselsRedCoat! I am very relieved about it. I was expecting it sooner. I was just chatting with a friend who is the same age as me and she is still waiting. We were both done on the 25th of May. I hope you get your text soon!

It looks like the fine spell of weather is over for the moment, doesn't it? I'm sitting outside and the sun made a brief appearance. It feels warm and muggy though. There were torrential downpours forecasted for Munster today.

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 03/07/2021 14:01

I'll let you know in eight days time, halfpasteleven! I hope you feel better tomorrow.

Aw thanks @IsFuzzyBeagMise I hope you don't feel like this anyway! It's over 24 hours now and I've been taking paracetamol every 4 hours today so hopefully by tomorrow I'll be feeling better.. Doesn't help that it's my time of the month also.

Anyone fearful for the schools come September?

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 04/07/2021 11:24

I'm not giving it any thought yet. Schools will be following all the same procedures in September as they have been for the past while.
thelegohooverer · 04/07/2021 13:08

@Homeontherangeuk yes, a bit. Trying to put it out of my mind for now.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 04/07/2021 14:10

Yes I'm worrying a bit but I'm more concerned that they'll suggest getting kids vaccinated and I'm totally against that. I only got it myself to keep the peace as it were, I hoped it would help us get back to normal, go on hols etc. Now it doesn't seem to be the case Hmm But there's no way I'm letting my kids get a vaccine. I'm dreading there being pressure and then a stigma for them not getting it. Maybe I'm looking too far ahead but it is worrying me.

CinnamonSweet73 · 04/07/2021 14:46

Great you got your date IsFuzzyBeagMise.
Arm sore after yesterday's second jab and do feel tired and a bit headachey. Grateful to have got it all the same of course!

Thank you, CinnamonSweet73. Yes, I'm glad to have it too. I was getting obsessive about checking my text messages! May your symptoms pass quickly. All worth it in my opinion :)
LadyEloise · 04/07/2021 16:31

I was chatting with an acquaintance ( in her early 60's ) today. She was a bit annoyed. Apparently her brother is getting his 2nd Astra Zeneca dose tomorrow yet he was vaccinated 3 days after her ( he is two years younger ).
Neither she nor her husband have had any message from the HSE re the 2nd vaccine.
Very strange.
She's wondering is it because the Aviva stadium was closed over the weekend for the rugby. So the people who got their vaccine 8 weeks prior on the Friday or Saturday there were put down the list ???
Her brother will have exactly 8 weeks between vaccinations.

BiddyPop · 04/07/2021 17:20

Both DH and I had ours in the Aviva, and found there was a slight delay on 2nd doses (2 days for him, 4 for me), we were 1 Pfizer and 1 Moderna. We both got our 2nd in the past 10 days.

But I'm hearing that Cork is having fierce delays on 2nd doses, as DBIL is now almost 2 weeks overdue and no message yet, and lots of his friends/colleagues the same.

Summernamechange2021 · 04/07/2021 20:16

Im a bit confused with my options as I fall i to the 18-34 year old group. I can register as normal and wait for the pfizer or moderna vaccine - or 'opt in' for AZ and johnson and johnson and possibly get it sooner. I dont know which I would be better off to do - any thoughts?

The rising cases is worrying. I always thought this would go onto next spring following the same kind of path as the spanish flu - just didn't expect to see the cases rise so soon.

CliffsofMohair · 04/07/2021 22:28

Well J&J is only one dose so bonus there if you’re needle phobic like me.

I'm in that age group too, I'll be waiting. I want to take the vaccine most suited to me and I don't think the J&J/AZ are that. Isn't it funny how we were all in it together 'til the older age groups (FG and FF voting base) were vaccinated, then it's to hell with it? The young thrown under the bus again.

And also, given that loads of people will rush to get pharmacy jabs the queue for Pfizer/Moderna should shorten quickly. But tbh the vaccine supplies don't seem to be there atm so I'm not stressing, there's no pharmacy vaccinations for me even if I wanted one Grin
