@AnnieJ1985

Definitely chillier today.

I am heading up Home Home on Friday for first time since last summer. As long as it doesn't snow, I'll be happy, but a bit of heat would be lovely for sitting outside.

Enjoy! It's almost surreal the first trip home home
LifeInAHamsterWheel · 03/06/2021 21:19

God @Killahangilion that's awful. I had the Pfizer jab and my arm was really very sore that night and the whole day after. It wasn't swollen or bruised or anything but agony - felt like I'd been shot!! (not that I'd know what that feels like) My boss had the Jansen and was absolutely fine. My friend's DH had it and was in bed for 2 days said he felt like he'd been hit by a bus! Then a headache that wouldn't lift after a week so he was sent to hospital for tests to rule out clots! I don't know, everyone I know has had a variety of reactions from none to bloody scary. I am praying the second dose is ok.

DH folks are fully vaccinated. Once DH and I are as well can we then meet up as normal ie indoors and without masks?? It's a 4 hour journey and we don't want to go if we can't hug and stay with them etc. I'm finding it hard to keep up with all the restrictions!

JaneJeffer · 03/06/2021 22:54

Does anyone watch Klondike? There's a new series starting on RTÉ 1 at 11.10.

LizzieAnt · 04/06/2021 15:05

I think you can meet them now @LifeInAHamsterWheel, as long as you or your DH are not in the high-risk category. If your PIL are fully vaccinated they can avail of the vaccine bonus, so can meet up indoors (without masks) with up to two other households, one of whom may be unvaccinated (as long as they are not high-risk). I hope I haven't got that completely wrong now! I suppose it might be safer from the pov of you and your DH to wait until you're vaccinated though, but you wouldn't be breaking any regulations or anything.

Oh that's great news @LizzieAnt thanks Smile

eggandonion · 08/06/2021 09:36

Its raining, no coffee outside for me today, pretending I am somewhere cosmopolitan!

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 08/06/2021 09:48

Pity about that egg. It's a damp squib of a day. It was great to see the reopening of pubs and restaurants yesterday and all the happy customers. I'm getting groomed getting my hair done tomorrow. I won't know myself.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 08/06/2021 14:22

Yes the weather is very disappointing today. Hopefully it will improve again during the week and in time for the weekend.

I'm really not a fan of outdoor dining/drinking unless we're abroad, it's rarely warm enough here for me to enjoy it. So I am counting down the days to indoor dining where I can choose what I fancy off a menu and have it served up to me whilst I sip on nice glass of something!

Enjoy the grooming Fuzzy!

Thank you Life, I definitely will.

Yes, I know what you mean about sitting out and dining. I get cold easily too.

Did anyone watch that puppy programme presented by Lucy Kennedy ?
I wanted to shout at the tv when her beautiful pup was allowed play with a golf ball Shock.
Ireland is so small if anyone knows her could you ask her not to let the pup play with a golf ball. He might choke.Sad
I couldn't believe they kept filming as she repeatedly threw the golf ball.
I was upset and amn't on Twitter or Facebook to reach out to her to warn her of the danger.

eggandonion · 08/06/2021 16:03

So many recently acquired puppies are worrying me.

Thesagacontinues · 08/06/2021 18:16

We made it to a beach yesterday. Got there early before it was busy and went for lunch early as well so beat the queues. It was so good to have a day out.

It is meant to be very warm this weekend, into the 20's but with some cloud. That was the latest when i checked today anyway.

In more ways than one

Oh yeah. There's a rake of puppy farmer dogs in my class (it's so obvious, no 'family breeder' has 4+ litters in the space of six months, I don't care if you saw it in a house and were told that's the family). These are intelligent parents, they read the news, they know the issues. They just don't give a shit.
eggandonion · 10/06/2021 18:08

I agree totally. I was talking to an ex breeding fox terrier earlier, she has more sense than a lot of humans.

thelegohooverer · 12/06/2021 11:42

I got my vaccine yesterday. There was such a lovely atmosphere at the centre - everyone smiling and in great form. I felt a bit sorry for the volunteers standing on one spot saying “over to the left now….over to the left now” over and over all day! But the army organisation is impeccable.

I have a confirmation approaching and ds has agreed to wear chinos, but his own are too small and H&M are sold out in his size. There’s some in Zara that might be ok. Could anyone tell me how the sizes generally compare? He’s autistic so trying on a few pairs for size isn’t an option - I get one shot! It’s like searching for the Holy Grail to find clothes that aren’t scratchy/hard, or uncomfortable in some undefinable way.

Actually, does anyone know if it’s worth trying an actual store if they’re sold out on line?

eggandonion · 12/06/2021 13:12

I feel like that about trouser shopping for myself, and size varies so much from place to place. And within ranges in the same shop. I have no teenagers, so can't advise!

Thesagacontinues · 12/06/2021 13:35

@thelegohooverer im not sure about zara but do you have a next nearby? They have lovely clothing for boys and my DS finds it comfortable. He has autism aswell and hates wearing any kind of trousers, chinos or jeans but the clothes in next do seem softer which really helps.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 12/06/2021 23:34

@thelegohooverer you could call the shop and see if that could check the stock there for you? Or go in and look if you fancy getting out to the shops. Otherwise I'd agree that Next is a good option. Hope you get sorted.

Goodness it's been warm today but only occasional sunshine which was disappointing as we'd been promised a heatwave Hmm it better be scorchio tomorrow or I'll have to complain to someone!!

Next weekend we are going OUT OUT with a group of friends. Outdoor dining which I'm never a fan of but I'm so excited to be getting out with pals that I'm blocking out the fact that it'll likely be freezing and the food will be cold before I can finish it Grin We are all very excited!

Joolsin · 12/06/2021 23:47

We had two friends around for dinner in the garden this evening. First time they'd been at ours since New Years Eve 2019 Shock - mad. Even though the sun never really broke through today, it was still warm enough to sit out till nearly 11pm. So nice, we loved it. The only one not happy was the cat, lockdown has made her super unfriendly - she doesn't like "strangers" on her territory!!!

Thesagacontinues · 13/06/2021 08:58

We have blue skies today!!! I hate the sticky heat with cloudy skies so delighted to see a blue sky this morning Smile

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 13/06/2021 09:25

It's another lovely day here too; what a novelty!
We had a friend who came over to help with a job in the garden yesterday. It was so nice to see him and sit down and chat for a bit.
The description of your cat made me smile, Joolsin. Her nose is out of joint! We have two cats that we adopted last September. They hadn't seen anyone outside of our family up to yesterday.
Enjoy the good weather!

thelegohooverer · 13/06/2021 12:28

My cat has weed on a rug in protest every time we’ve had visitors (4 times now).

Thanks for the suggestion about Next. Smile

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 13/06/2021 18:09

Beautiful sunshine today I hope everyone is enjoying a lovely Sunday Smile

eggandonion · 15/06/2021 10:55

The weather all weekend was excellent, better today for exam kids!
I have a long list of boring chores to do, really I'd like to go and mooch around town. It seems to be nicer in town now, according to my spies. I think on street dining means more people about.
I'm meeting two different groups of people later in the week, slightly strange as both are the kissing types. I'm happy to avoid that, its slightly awkward...is it air kiss or real kiss...
