I think Leo also received death threats from far right anti lockdown protestors.

Iblinkedandiamold · 05/04/2021 09:26

I dont agree with death threats or homophobic nd racist remarks. It's awful that people think they are big making threats to kill someone or rape someone, people have even threatened to rape children of people they are threatening. I have heard awful stories from Guards and prison officers about this sort of thing and they pretend it doesn't bother them.
What gives someone the right to shout or write something like that to someone.

Emeraldshamrock · 05/04/2021 10:06

Personally I think they should be charged with a sentence. Body-cams used in court for evidence. It would make them think twice about verbal abuse? The majority wouldn't assault the gardai or prison officer knowing that they would be charged, verbal abusive threats are vile.
The threats against Leo are disgusting and backwards but not surprising.

Odd Easter Monday morning here. We had snow! And news that the "device" found on the Boyne boardwalk was explosive. That'll keep all of us at home today anyway.

LadyEloise · 05/04/2021 13:16

turkeyboots. Shock re the explosive.
Just what we heed - a return to sectarian tension. FFS
Or is it gang related ?
Because of where it was found I thought it might be sectarian.

turkeyboots · 05/04/2021 13:35

Could easily be either round here. Lockdown and the garda checkpoints were great for catching all the local drug, money and gun runners. Not a week went past in lockdown 1 with another major haul. Every cloud as they say.

Iblinkedandiamold · 05/04/2021 13:51

Wow, I really hope it's not a return to violence.
We also had snow, lovely day now but cold. Just back from a nice walk.

Iblinkedandiamold · 05/04/2021 13:54

I've a wee crush on Mack in Emmerdale with his cheeky grin and one liners.

thelegohooverer · 05/04/2021 14:48

I thought I was imagining a little flurry of snow outside my window this morning. It was only for a few seconds.

halfpasteleven · 05/04/2021 15:04

It's certainly much colder here today but it's dry so we can get outside.
I bought crisps this morning while out getting milk to counteract all the chocolate yesterday.
Than I ate more chocolate after I ate the crisps.

Emeraldshamrock · 05/04/2021 15:11

Bitter cold here too, we'd rosy cheeks after our walk.

Iblinkedandiamold · 05/04/2021 15:12

I brought 4 multi pack hula hoops today. Tesco had 5 for 5. I bought some chocolate biscuits too.

Emeraldshamrock · 05/04/2021 15:15

Meaning rosey. Blush

Thesagacontinues · 05/04/2021 15:28

I always have to have crisps to counteract the chocolate Smile

Woke up feeling funny and foggy headed this morning, then around 11am the headache came out through my eye Sad. Have been into town for sinus tablets which have helped but now am starving. I picked up dinner but think takeaway would just be eaaier.

halfpasteleven · 05/04/2021 16:54

Biscuits are a strange one for us. We don't really buy them, but Pre Covid we would eat them if offered them while visiting other houses/out for coffee and they give you those biscuits on the side that I cannot remember the name of. They are plain with a rounded edge..

I do like a purple snack though.

halfpasteleven · 05/04/2021 16:55

Hope the tablets kick in soon abs you feel better @Thesagacontinues. We are definitely getting a take away this week.

Sarahtrue11 · 05/04/2021 17:33

I love salt and vinegar hula hoops, and tayto. I miss the Irish crisps, Iam outside Ireland right now, and was dreaming of Irish food yesterday.

I suppose there is never any food as good as that from your home country! Tea always tastes the best when I am sitting with my mam in Ireland.

3timeslucky · 05/04/2021 19:10

Snow?! Please no.

Happy Easter all!

Sarahtrue11 · 05/04/2021 20:07

Does anyone know anyone aged between 70 -75 in Ireland who has got their vaccination yet?

I am waiting for my mam to get hers. They said that all over 70s would be done by mid april but she hasnt been called yet

Apileofballyhoo · 05/04/2021 20:25

I know people in that age group who got their first one in the past week. My own DM is older and also got hers last week. Seems to depend on the area, relatives in Cork (county) and Dublin (city) got theirs sooner.

I know a few in different parts of the country - east, west and midlands. Unless in a care home or similar, it depends on the GP surgery - some have loads of over 75s or 80s that they're still working through, some have few elderly adults (or few came to their appointments) and if they have the vaccines in hand they've already moved onto the younger age groups.

IwishIwasontheN17 · 05/04/2021 22:10

Just tagging @FraterculaArctica from the last thread

SecretCiderCellar · 05/04/2021 22:47

That’s my experience, too, @MarDhea — my parents, 79 and 77, both got their second shot before my 80 year old PILs got their first. In neighbouring GP surgeries, but PILs are in an area with a far older population.

Apileofballyhoo · 05/04/2021 23:42

It might be a bit slower for some people but I'm kind of glad for DM it was just her own GP and familiarity. I think she might have been anxious going to a vaccination centre. She's started to get anxious about driving on a long journey or motorway now that she hasn't done it for a year.

Yes...they started over 70's in the past week or so. I know 3 ...2 in Dublin, 1 in Galway.
