I was admitted to hospital last wek.
No such thing as private cover at the moment. Care was great. Wonder why we are paying €4000 a year at the moment. Treated as a public patient. No exception to rules at the moment

Iblinkedandiamold · 26/03/2021 23:02

I do think schools will reopen after Easter however, if I was a parent listen to someone saying "School's will open blah blah blah" I wouldn't believe it. Sure they sound that line all over Christmas right up to almost the last minute.

Apileofballyhoo · 26/03/2021 23:15

Don't forget to claim back on the med1 form thing Emerald.

Dunnes I just saw it on Twitter about George Lee. I hate watching videos so I didn't, and was wondering if anyone here saw it.

1500 cases a day and we what, go calmly about our business? They're really not telling us anything hamster. That makes me feel anxious, to be honest. I like to know where I stand.

tazzy73 · 26/03/2021 23:25

I was in Dunnes in Mullingar on Wednesday, a good few people were dipping under the tape and getting what they needed. No problem at the tills. My own daughter included Shock

Regarding the Beacon debacle, wrong on so many levels. Front line need to be done 1st. So Face to face hospital staff, paramedics, Gardai, fire service, prison wardens. Shop assistants and teachers also but I do think they should be after the previous mentioned.

No books brought home from my DD school today.

Joolsin · 26/03/2021 23:26

With the new testing centres open, case numbers are bound to go up with asymptomatic people being discovered. But they'll keep the schools open unless we get up to the crazy numbers we had in early January and I think that's unlikely. There will be individual class and even individual school shut downs, but I don't think they'll shut the whole lot again.

Meanwhile, not one word about third level since Christmas.

Emeraldshamrock · 26/03/2021 23:29

@Apileofballyhoo Thank you. Smile
@Iblinkedandiamold I agree they'll open. I bet the teenagers are longing for some routine unless of course the numbers spiral. There will be lots of socialising over the Easter period it is anyone's guess.
I have noticed the shops that are open are packed, people congregating in the hardware shop, I had a galavant there myself if they opened more places it would stop the large crowds.

Were you given a private or semi private room or were you on a ward?
HaHaVeryBunny · 27/03/2021 11:01

@LifeInAHamsterWheel

I didn't watch the 6/1 this evening but the article on The Journal about the DOE insisting second level will return as planned on 12th April says "it us understood that clusters in schools are being monitored closely and no concerns have been flagged as long as case numbers stay below 1,000 to 1,500 per day" WHAT?! Since when did those sort of numbers become the benchmark?? I'm gobsmacked at that. And if that is the case, why haven't we been told? And more importantly why haven't we opened up?!

As for Dunnes Stores... I'm sure I've moaned about it on here before but it's so frustrating they have the worst website ever! Hardly anything on it. My local Dunnes is a small one and still there's always loads of lovely stuff in store that's never on the website. I just don't understand it. It's such bad business! Surely in this day & age (I sound like my mother) your website is akin to your right arm? @Dunnesstores have a word will you? Wink

Jesus, has the government just given up any pretence that they are in control of the situation anymore the "as long as numbers stay between 1,000 and 1,500 per day" quote form the DOE is a WTF moment. Nothing surprises me about this mess of a government.
Iblinkedandiamold · 27/03/2021 11:29

I had a really bad sleep lastnight. Blaming it on Chocolate and over eating. But as I was eating rubbish again this morning I realised that I am actually dreading the next 2 weeks. I am off for Easter and there's nothing to do but sit at home.
That is why I ate so much junk Yesterday and I've already eaten a lot of biscuits this morning.

LadyEloise · 27/03/2021 11:51

@Nannyamc
I hope you are ok now. Thanks

3timeslucky · 27/03/2021 12:28

There was a note saying not to socialise for the 2 week break which makes no sense when they are in school together anyway

Someone explained it to me that the idea is the 2 weeks off should/could act as a circuit breaker if kids don't socialise together.

I agree it would make a big impact if parents could keep contacts down. I'll be keeping mine busy in the family. It'll be tough living near the green.

Dunnesstores · 27/03/2021 12:52

Is 1000/1500 an acceptable number now/shortly as our most vulnerable will be vaccinated and the majority of these people won't be expected to get ill or end up in hospital anyway?
I wish they would explain their reasoning when they make statements like this.

JaneJeffer · 27/03/2021 13:11

Hi Dunnes I can't remember what we chatted about before but I'm sure it was something interesting Grin

DS2 is not happy about returning to school even though he will be off again in less than two months! I wonder if we'll get any refund for the school bus this time?

Dunnesstores · 27/03/2021 13:24

Hi Jane, I think it was related to Ireland, you're name has always stood out since as its such an Irish phrase but cleverly spelt!

JaneJeffer · 27/03/2021 13:31

I came up with it while helping with Irish homework and I needed a name change post Geoffreygate!

Apileofballyhoo · 27/03/2021 14:18

Very slow on the uptake here, I've been repeating Jane Jeffer to myself for a few minutes before I got it!

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 27/03/2021 14:21

If you're slow, then I'm even slower, Apile!

HaHaVeryBunny · 27/03/2021 14:28

@IsFuzzyBeagMise

If you're slow, then I'm even slower, Apile!
Is it meant to sound like the Irish for hurry up?
IsFuzzyBeagMise · 27/03/2021 14:35

Ah...déan deifir?

That's clever!

halfpasteleven · 27/03/2021 14:37

Dean deifir there's a fada missing I know but I can't do them on my phone.
V clever name @JaneJeffer
Love it

LizzieAnt · 27/03/2021 14:42

I didn't get it either, sorry Jane! Thanks DunnesstoresSmile

JaneJeffer · 27/03/2021 14:43

I'm laughing at you saying you're slow and then realising it means hurry up Grin
IsFuzzyBeagMise · 27/03/2021 14:44

Yes, the irony Grin

JaneJeffer · 27/03/2021 14:51

Does anyone remember the strange poster who used to come onto the Irish threads claiming they were Irish but then didn't know basic things that someone living here should. They once posted my name in Irish and told me I should name change often because I was recognisable! Weirdo! Haven't seen them around for a while.
