Unlinked because I can't remember how to do it, and can't find Help thing.

Stove even
Once again I cannot seem to finish a sentence correctly Smile

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 12/02/2021 16:07

Grin halfpasteleven we have an open fire. I light it once a week, usually on a Friday.

eggandonion · 12/02/2021 16:17

I was in the new shop just after Christmas, it has an upstairs with coffee tables and lamps and mirrors and things. It's not easy to social distance.

It's not a big premises, is it. That would put me off. I didn't know it had an upstairs.

eggandonion · 12/02/2021 16:43

It's pretty big but has probably one aisle too many for comfort. It's good to see new business opening but I do wonder what will remain in any main street after this.

We finally have snow and it's still on the ground now. It's still windy though. So glad I have no where to go. I got the shop in yesterday after work. Chicken casserole is in the slow cooker.

LadyEloise · 13/02/2021 14:27

What part of the country are you Iblinkedandiamold ?
We were promised it last night but nothing - just windy and cold. I'm in Dublin.

TheLongRider · 13/02/2021 15:25

We had snow this morning in D16. It got washed away by the rain though before lunchtime.

LongPauseNoAnswer · 13/02/2021 15:44

This thread has done wonders for my homesickness, thank you ladies. I haven’t been home since November 2019 Sad

Iblinkedandiamold · 13/02/2021 17:00

@LadyEloise I'm in the west. Just went out for a 10k run/walk. It wasn't even that cold.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 13/02/2021 17:12

Where are you now @LongPauseNoAnswer ? I lived in England for many years, not far but still only got home a few times a year and I remember the homesickness. Even worse when you can't get home despite wanting/being able to. Hopefully it won't be much longer 🤞🏻

Hideous day here today, bit of snow overnight but it got washed away and now we're back to stormy winds and sleet. Yuck.

We're having homemade pizza for dinner. And I replenished the wine stock so we should be ok for a few days! Happy Saturday everyone Smile

LongPauseNoAnswer · 13/02/2021 17:50

I’m in Geneva @LifeInAHamsterWheel but might as well be in Australia Sad

We had a lot of snow yesterday and it hasn’t gone about -2 all day. I’m sick of grey skies, can’t wait for spring. We had Italian meatballs for dinner.

LadyEloise · 13/02/2021 18:19

Iblinkedandiamold
I thought the west was to get snow.
And I thought you were up on the border. Smile

Iblinkedandiamold · 13/02/2021 18:19

I had pizza too, it wasn't homemade but I did have to take it out of the package and put it in the oven, does that count?.Grin The snow is still here but when i out earlier it was slushy in parts. I made ths mistake a few times of thinking it was compacted snow only for my foot to land in a puddle.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 13/02/2021 19:46

Oooh Geneva sounds very exotic to me right now!! I've been making all sorts of plans in my head about places I want to visit WHEN THIS IS ALL OVER. It's (sort of) keeping me sane! Sick of thinking about when that might be. But I do have great plans 🤣

Our pizzas were delicious. And so is my wine. But DH is killing my vibe by having football on the telly so that's going to change in a few minutes Hmm

eggandonion · 13/02/2021 22:09

We had an Indian. There was a big mumsnet discussion about whether it was ok to say that yesterday. We took our dog for a walk and he rolled in goose poo, and had to have a bath.
Not being able to get home home is hard. Philip Nolan on the radio yesterday was saying his dd wanted to come round for dinner but he said no. Aine Lawlor agreed that is really hard. I'd love the 5km to go.

Iblinkedandiamold · 13/02/2021 22:49

The 5k rule is very restrictive, especially when you live in rural Ireland or anywhere where there are no nice walks nearby. I find walking/running a bit tedious now, it's the same loop, meeting the same people every single time.

VintageStitchers · 14/02/2021 09:36

I’m down in the far south west and really disappointed that the vaccine programme is so shit here compared to the U.K. All my older siblings have had the vaccine over there and they’re looking forward to visiting other family members at Easter.

DH is vulnerable as he has a blood cancer and a respiratory disease and we have young D.C. I’m dreading both the re-opening of schools and the influx of holiday visitors over Easter as we’ve been so careful. I’m seriously considering keeping DC at home until DH has been vaccinated. The last chest infection he had in the Autumn (must have picked it up from DC.) took 3 weeks of different antibiotics to bring it under control.

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 14/02/2021 10:09

My parents in law are going to be vaccinated at their GP surgery next week. They are in Dublin, in their mid/late eighties.
I hear you, VintageStitchers. I wish they would bring it forward for people in vulnerable categories. And generally. Hurry up!
Also, the numbers of cases are taking a while to go down. It seems to always be around the thousand mark.

Iblinkedandiamold · 14/02/2021 10:11

Yeah the vaccines are very slow here. My uncle in England has been vaccinated, he's not vulnerable and is younger than my parents who are still waiting for theirs. My parents are in their 70s my dad has health problems. They haven't had any information about when they'll get theirs either.

CherryValanc · 14/02/2021 10:19

Britain's vaccination scheme is very well organised. There are huge numbers that have their first vaccine. However, Ireland has a higher percentage of population fully vaccinated.

That said it's frustrating isn't it. I'm hoping it's like a juggernaut- slow to get going them sets off.

Iblinkedandiamold · 14/02/2021 10:28

Yeah that's true, I know there's a lot of NHS worried about the gap between vaccines.(according to Phil and Holly on this morning) I just want to see my parents, the sooner they are vaccinated the sooner I can see them. I am being a bit selfish I know.

LadyEloise · 14/02/2021 10:30

VintageStitchers I hope your dh gets vaccinated very soon.
The roll out is very slow compared to the UK.
It's certainly given the Vote Leave people a shot in the arm ( sorry I couldn't resist Smile )
