Unlinked because I can't remember how to do it, and can't find Help thing.

Fair play to you @Iblinkedandiamold I get out for a 5k walk every day but no way could I run it. I used to run but got injured so now I walk. I was frozen solid on my walk this morning I couldn't feel my legs by the time I got in! I walked quicker than I've ever walked before as I couldn't wait to get home Grin

@eggandonion I hear you on nights out and buffets!! Oh to be served up a meal that you didn't have any involvement in! I do ALL the cooking in this house, plus all the planning, shopping, prepping and THINKING about it. It's so exhausting. There's a thread about it in the Coronavirus section which I was really able to relate to! Our kitchen is like a 24 hour cafe, I am so sick of it all. 3 meals a day plus the constant snacks - I've resorted to hiding things in my boot because they've literally sniffed out every hiding place I have in the house Hmm

eggandonion · 08/02/2021 16:50

My dd2, who has been working from home for months, likes interesting food but is too busy to cook. I do the shopping, I ask if we need anything. I come home. Then she wonders if we have something random like radishes, or if I could try some complicated American recipe.
Dh eats anything not hidden, especially if it is intended for a purpose.
I'd kill for an all you can eat lunch. A buffet breakfast. Fast food between work and cinema. Anything.

I hear ye on the 24 hour kitchen. It's constant. Frequent visits to the fridge, ware never cleared.

I went on strike on Saturday and we had rolls and salad and crisps. I was sick of cooking but also had to catch up on housework.

I've fond memories of our last meal out in a restaurant in early August. Market Lane, eggandonion, do you know it?

Good luck with the running Iblinkedandiamold. I like going for a walk. I'm in awe of people who run.

eggandonion · 08/02/2021 17:37

Isn't Market Lane the same people as BlackRock Castle? I like it. I think my ds goes to Market Lane, I want him to come home and meet him for coffee. He has coffee in Gusto.
I miss my ds, I'm sure his partner would like a break from him. Its very hard seeing only the people you live with.
I'd happily walk for miles, but not run.

Yes, egg I think so. Yummy food [drools]. My kids are still all at home, so I don't have that going on at least.

Carriemac · 08/02/2021 20:18

We had a few days in a hotel between lockdowns in October . A bottle of champagne in the room, and a menu in the restaurant, with choices and someone to clear it all away . It was the Yorkshire coast but I might as well have been in the Caribbean it was such a treat. I will never take a restaurant for granted again I'm so bored by my own cooking

eggandonion · 08/02/2021 20:33

We were in the north in August, during the eat out to help out tax thing. It was way too busy . I knew a few families did a come dine with me thing.
I'm really fed up cooking too.

We’re having takeout every weekend at the moment Cos I’m so bored of cooking. But there’s only two takeout options so they have gotten pretty dull too 😂

halfpasteleven · 08/02/2021 22:00

I hate cooking all the time. The prep and planning and once the meal is over it has to be repeated all over again.....
I'm running out of ideas and just not motivated...

eggandonion · 08/02/2021 23:36

I'm glad it's not just me, I look at recipes but it doesn't inspire me. I'd eat sandwiches, and takeaway chips if it was up to me.

CherryValanc · 09/02/2021 07:52

Yes the tedium of planning and prepping. We split it between us and it's still mond numbing.

I recently wrote out a ten menu and have it on repeat. The husband might go off it, but I just want to cut out one part of the boredom.

Admittedly it's just ten main meals - anything else ths gannets want the make themselves. Can't be doing with "what's for dinner?" Mere hours after they have eaten dinner!!

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 09/02/2021 08:18

I hear ye. I get tired of it too. And the 'what's for dinner' question. And the complaints from the fussy eaters.

There's a thread in Chat about it; cooking fatigue.

Iblinkedandiamold · 09/02/2021 11:15

I get cravings for Supermacs every so often. I have never eaten in supermacs as often as I have since last march. It's a cheap takeaway and the only thing I have to look forward too. I get the same thing every time too. Grin
I too am getting a bit sick of cooking especially as it's just me.

eggandonion · 09/02/2021 11:19

If I try something new, it is just ok. I can't be bothered. Except cake, they like cake, but dd2 claims she's getting fat and dh cuts massive slices in case it gets stale.
We tried a takeaway from the Indian restaurant we don't normally use, it was ok.

Any snow where you are ?
I'm in Dublin and no snow yet

Iblinkedandiamold · 09/02/2021 11:55

Snow here. It's lightly snowing still. I had no idea that the guy who played captain von Trapp was dead.

SionnachRua · 09/02/2021 15:59

These little snow flurries are such a fucking tease. Either bury us in the stuff or stop teasing!

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 09/02/2021 16:22

We have occasional flaky bits here (down south) and an incredibly cold wind.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 09/02/2021 18:05

No snow yet where I am (south east) but absolutely bloody freezing!! Such a cold wind. The weather app on my phone had been showing 80% chance of snow from Thursday and it's been going down... now it's just showing wind for Thursday and a 50% chance of snow on Friday. Feck sake. I think weather is just one of those things that even with the best technology it can't really be predicted. It can change within minutes and we've no control over it. So I'm not going to look at the weather app any more!

LadyEloise · 09/02/2021 19:16

Written on a thread on Mumsnet was that weather forecasting was not as accurate as normal because less planes are flying and weather forecasters get a lot of information from the planes in the sky.
I do know how true that is.

DanceLikeAdamAnt · 09/02/2021 19:19

Never sticks. Snowed all day where i wm. Nothing on the ground.

LadyEloise · 09/02/2021 19:24

Oops I don't know how true it is. 🙈

eggandonion · 09/02/2021 19:28

I thought it is all done from satellite? It was spot on about the snow three years ago. I have to panic buy again tomorrow, remember the digger knocking into lidl.

I think it's the east of the country tonight and tomorrow, then nationwide on Thursday. Can barely plan for an hour ahead tbh. We will shall see what the weather decides to do sure

Ballygowenwater · 09/02/2021 22:59

Nothing here but it is Baltic, have had the fire going since like 3pm. I’m in the south west.
